The streets are chaos. Reports of people with loss of limbs, I've just seen two blood donor vans go past in the space of about 5 minutes. Nobody knows what to do. Police are encouraging everyone to keep calm, but even they admit its hard to do at this time.

There is no Chaos !, it's all very calm, blood donor vans do not equate to chaos, I would describe the streets as quiet,with confused people wondering how they are going to get anywhere </font>
When I was there (up by Liverpool Street), people were crying, a few screaming, running around either looking for seperated friends or getting out of the area. Police did a very good job though. However, I do accept that things have calmed down very quickly, kudos to London's population for acting in such a responsible manner.

Agreed. Experts have already pointed all their fingers at AQ. Thank goodness most are now abandoning this "power surge" crap.

<font color="cyan">Any chance this is to do with London getting the Olympics for 2012? And, as we know, the London Underground was a key component of that bid.

Coincedence that this has been bombed the day after? Depending on the damage, it might have to be moved to a different country.

Like France.</font>

I thought about the olympic bid, but i couldn't think who would do it for that. Maybe the terrorists just chose it to give extra publicity. </font>
<font color="cyan">French renegades?

If our Underground is totally destroyed, we will lose the Olympics!

6 Explosions so far...5 on the underground, 1 on the DD Bus.</font>
</font>
FFS why would the French want to bomb us ? there's a million terrorists out there who hate us!!

This has all the hallmarks of an al Queda attack, probabally linked to the G8 conference, not the pissing olympics. Lets get rational people, please
</font>
Donut, calm down please. At the moment, we don't know WHO did this. It has the hallmarks of al Queda, yes, but lets wait and see. Like others, I hope it's not the IRA starting up again (dunno much about their current issues, so I can't say).

Hope all is well, and stay safe!!
</font>
It wasn't Donut it was me, and I am very calm , There is NO way this is down to the IRA, they give warnings, they don't favour the multiple blast scenario.

</font>
I know it's confusing - but that was Lanesra. In his defence, the thought that it's the French is so stupid I can't believe it was suggested. lanesra is in the middle of it, a few hundred yards from where one of the bombs went off - I can understand why he's so angry.

An islamic website has said Al Queda hve claimed responsibility

Charlie 07-07-2005 07:44 AM

Why does that not suprise me...

Horatio 07-07-2005 07:54 AM

Casualities now believed to have reached 1000. 150 are serious. Disregard my earlier post about a warning, the same radio station has now discounted that.

Aragorn1 07-07-2005 07:59 AM

I recon that they were just waiting for the Olympics to see if they could get that extra bit of publicity. I don't doubt that Al Qaeda are to blame.

So what you are suggesting is that they spent months, maybe years planning this and just waited on the off chance that London was successful in their Olympic bid - riggghht!

</font>
I can see where he's coming from. Obviously the attack wasn't hinged on the Olympic bid, but by waiting to see the result and then bombing, the terrorists would have caused more trouble than if they hadn't. Obviously the attack would've gone forward anyway, but by acting right after the Olympic announcement they cause just that more devastation.
