Jah`zuer- "Tell ya what, I'll make a special "transaction" with you. I have some ah, special goods. Now normally I wouldn't give these away, but we'll make a special deal with you. Its not as bad as you think, some gambling buddies of mine ran out of money, so these were the profits made. Gambling is Illegal here, so please, don't blow my cover. Here, their worth a lot of astral coins, and astral coins converted to GP is a lot, but since you people get bargains, this will be 500 GP. Its worth 2000 GP, but hey, you are friends of Khadgar."
Chun Li-"I guess this IS a good deal. Sure, I'll take them." Jah'zuer-"Alright then, we have a deal." Khadgar-"Still into gambling eh Jah'zuer. Even when you came to my town you gambled. Well, you do win a lot, guess you got good luck." Jah'zuer- "Yes, i guess you could say that. If you know how to play the games, your good. But I'm in a loosing streak, but I oughta get some good pay next game, I hope." [ 07-30-2002, 11:20 PM: Message edited by: SecretMaster ] |
"Would you happen to have any more other special goods, sir?" asked Chun-Li excitedly. Nearby, Rufus appraised a pair of speed boots while Fenric played with a large crystal cube which he had taken from one of the shelves, totally absorbed in the endlessly fluctuating colors.
"Well... All right, just a moment, please," said Jah'zuer as he walked to a shelf and shifted a thick book placed in it. The entire shelf slowly shifted aside to reveal a small room hidden behind. "Come in," said Jah'zuer. The party entered the room with Jah'zuer. Inside were more shelves decked with yet more merchandise, all in the finest condition. Jah'zuer opened a small chest in the room. Inside was a beautiful crystal orb which slowly floated out of the chest and glowed and shimmered as if it were alive. "A rare beauty, this!" remarked Jah'zuer. "This is an Orb of Power Shielding. When activated, this near-indestructible item throws a power shield around you and all your friends for a total of 10 minutes of normal time. Can be used 3 times a day. The shield cuts down greatly on injuries received from all physical weapons and hostile magic, plus harmful elemental forces like fire or acid. The best part of it is that, once already activated beforehand, the shield cannot be cancelled out by anti-magic enchantments." "We're buying it!" cried Magnus. "Excellent. That will be 500 gp, please!" Magnus handed Jah'zuer a sackful of gps and took the orb. "A question, kind sir," asked Sir Morguruat. "Is this orb of any use against mental attacks?" "Afraid not, sir." "Would you happen to have any other items which offer protection against such attacks, then?" "Afraid we haven't any in stock either for now, sir. Items offering proof against psionics are exceedingly rare and difficult to make. The required material components are just too hard to procure, including among other things the internal organs of certain very dangerous and powerful creatures. If you wish, though, I suppose we can specially make some for you -- at the cost of 80,000 gp apiece..." "Why, that's a king's ransom!" objected Sir Jorlon. "As I have explained," replied Jah'zuer apologetically, "anti-psionics items are very difficult to make. I regret that I can't make them cheaper -- I'd suffer severe losses otherwise..." ******************************** Meanwhile, in the Seven Heavens. Kuan Kung the Warlord of the Golden Light was taking a stroll in the gardens of his golden palace and admiring the lotus flowers which blossomed on the great central pond. One of the greater gods residing in the lower tiers of the Seven Heavens, Lord Kuan's job was to authenticate entry permits for newly arrived souls from the mortal world, assign them different occupations in the Seven Heavens, prepare progress reports for each of them, and promote them to higher status among the ranks of the immortals in the Heavens when they had proven themselves worthy. Life in the Heavens normally proceeded at a leisurely pace, but of late the number of souls from the mortal world has escalated tremendously, giving him truly large amounts of work. What could have happened in the mortal world? Some major cataclysm? Lord Kuan waved his hand. At once the reflections in the pond vanished, and in their place various scenes from the mortal world were revealed to him. To his divine eyes were shown hordes of undead warriors besieging entire cities and large numbers of mortals falling prey to their onslaught. Waving his hand again, Lord Kuan saw a malevolent figure in black armor bending to his will a demon with great leathery wings, and elsewhere a skeletal figure atop a throne of skulls... Lord Kuan nodded and fingered his long, black beard. "Hmmm, so the mortal world has been overrun by the forces of darkness... I think I must have a word with Clangeddin regarding this state of affairs..." Just then a golden dragon flew into the gardens and landed before Lord Kuan before changing into the form of a man in golden armor. "Your humble servant requests an audience, Great Lord!" "What news, Tsao?" "Another batch of souls from the mortal world has newly arrived, Great Lord. Shall I assign them to the northern chambers first, or would you prefer to see them now?" As Ghzarbanan walked into the secret room he nearly fainted. Sitting there one one ot the shelves was the lost Anhk of light. The anhk actually glowed with the light of the sun, brightening the room, with its silent symbol of strength in goodness. Ghzarbanan sank to his knees in front of the Anhk and mouthed a silent prayer to his god. Everything made sense to him now, Ghzarbanan ripped the mithral chain from his neck, and took of his platinum rings and offered them to the shopkeeper for payment, in exchange for this Anhk. The shopkeeper agreed, knowing that the jewelry he got was much more valuable on the market. Ghzarbanan carefully packed the 'Eyes's Of God' and the 'Anhk Of Light' into his bag, knowing that they would come in handy in the future.

Just as Ghzarbanan finishes putting the items away and crossbow quarrel flies out the next room and buries itself up to the feathers in his leg. A look of shock comes over the face of the companions as they scan outside room for emenies. Ghzarbanan pulls the arrow from his leg, as blood pours out of the wound. Ghzarbanan was no stranger to arrow wounds, but this one seemed to sting worse than any other wound he had ever had. He started to feel weak, and all of a sudden he fell over. Another 3 arrows soared into the room 1 of them headed for Fenric, one for Morgeraut and one at Magnus.
OOC: i would explain my post more, but the characters dont know really what is happening, so Im not going to tell you'll just have to play it by ear, and I would NOT advise charging into the next roOm. . . (Check the bad guys thread if you have not thus far, and maybe you'll get an idea of what is going on) Best of Luck! [ 07-31-2002, 08:44 PM: Message edited by: AzRaeL StoRmBlaDe ] |
"W-What's going on?" yelled Jah'zuer in surprise.
Chun-Li stared around quickly, her eyes glowing green again. "The Dark Knight's minions! I see them!" Her warning came too late as Magnus caught a crossbow bolt in the side. With his extreme reflexes, Sir Jorlon pulled out his great sword and intercepted another two bolts in a gleaming arc just before they struck Sir Morgureat and Fenric. Magnus winced in extreme pain as he dug out the Orb of Power Shielding from his sleeves. "Power shield... activate!" At once a shimmering film of force formed around every member in the party to the accompaniment of a dull hum. Another crossbow bolt flew towards Khadgar -- and cushioned by the shield, merely pricked his skin just enough for him to bleed before dropping to the ground. Nevertheless, a terrible burning sensation quickly spread from the wound... "The shield's not enough to stop the bolts completely, because of the weakening effects of this plane on all magic! And the bolts are... poisoned!!" (ooc: Hey! StockRock, do some healing!! ) [ 08-01-2002, 03:55 AM: Message edited by: K T Ong ] |
Fenric dashed out of the room angrily. "Where... bad man?" growled the werewolf. "Fenric... kill!"
Fighting the pain, Magnus and Khadgar each conjured a guided fireball and sent it outside. Chun-Li also began to utter a spell. A skeletal wraith materialised before her. Normally she could easily summon four at once, but the dampening effects of this plane meant she could only summon one. "Go, my faithful servant, go," ordered Chun-Li. "Seek out the assailants and rend them with your claws of ice..." (ooc: To Azrael ~ Fenric's at least as impulsive as your halfling, so I had to let him out. ;) But he's got extremely high agility and reflexes, too -- after all, he's half-animal and also a partly magical creature. And he's currently got a power shield around him as well, albeit a weak one. So you might not want to put him down too quickly. ;) Keep in mind that the wraith is insubstantial, too!) OOC> K T, thats a really cool looking sig.
IC> StoneRock runs to Magnus, who is really injured. "Ala corath plin jaz" and he casts a Rejuvanate spell on him (Rejuvanate is a spell given to all Clangeddin High priests that cures any ailment, even death, and heals them up to their full health and stamina is regained). StoneRock turns to Khadgar "Olth Torm Pajen!" He casts a neutralize poison on Khadgar. "Mahgadar crahde opulunt!" He casts a mass heal on the party. Khadgar- Khadgar gets up quickly. "Damn, those bolts are strong. Hold on.... Mesundas, iunt Provan!" A large alarm starts ringing. Jah'zuer- "Is that the Astral Alarm spell i gave you????" Khadgar- "It is Jah'zuer. How long will it take for the guards to come, and are they fast enough to stop the intruder?" Jah'zuer- "You've never seen our guards, well... Here they come now." Everyone looks out the door and see's what looks like 6 marble figures go by, in a second. |
A hail of crossbow quarrels greeted Fenric as he dashed into the next room. With his amazing reflexes he was able to bend his body around several of the bolts, but there were just too many of them. One scored a direct hit in his should and another found his right leg, as another just grazed by his left arm drawing a hint of blood. Fenric Howled in pain, as the would be assassins, ducked back around the far corner of the room to reload. The fireball arced directly at the group, but it exploded right before them, as it met an invisble barrier, leaving the group unharmed.
OOC if we have a sheild type thing, they can have a wall of force. ohh yeah the quarrels are very heavily poisoned, in case you missed that, and also someone PLEASE HEAL GHZARBANAN, and maybe neutralize poison as well |
Sry Azrael, forgot bout Ghzarbanan. But he was healed by StoneRock's Mass heal.
StoneRock- StoneRock rushes to Ghzarbanan and quickly neutralizes the poison before he rushes to Fenric and heals him up. "Damn, at this rate, my powers will be used up quick." Jorlon- Jorlon rushes out, to aid the Astral Guards. The assassin had already thrown in 3 summoning bottles. "Stay back everyone one, those are Nishiru's. They can eat our magical items!!!" |
As stone rock rushes over to heal Fenric he is greated by a volley of crossbow quarrels. 2 of these fly high, one of them bounces harmlessly off his helmet, as another one sticks in his lower stomache through his armor. The assassins ready another volley as the companions struggle to get out of the way. Ghzarbanan awakens on the floor as the poison leaves his system, He grabs an arrow of dispelling and a magical bow of called shot from the merchants inventory. He then ducks out into the hallway and fires at the assassins, the arrow thuds into the wall of force, and sits it the air a moment as the two magical forces battle. The arrow quickly wins out and drops to the floor, the wall dispelled. Ghzarbanan then gulps a resist poison potion he found in the merchant's inventory as he charges at the group of assassins. The merchant uses this as a distraction and bolts out the back door, hopefully to get more help.
As Ghzarbanan charges the group he suddenly halts in his movement and falls to the ground. His face is clenched in struggle, but he is unable to move An arrow glances off his armor as the assassins take aim at their now helpless target. OOC: got to hate hold spells when they are used on you. Ghzarbanan is a powerful fighter when he gets a chance, but for right now I'm kind of making him impetuous and a burden on the group, just because its kind of fun to roleplay OOC DONT FORGET TO CHECK THE VILLIANS THREAD BEFORE YOU POST [ 08-01-2002, 09:01 PM: Message edited by: AzRaeL StoRmBlaDe ] |
