dang that's awefully uber of them, and I thought Hackmaster's battlemages were bad (can cast multiple spells at the same time, as long as they're fireball, or missile type spells such as a skipping betty fireball, magic missile, and lava yield fireball assuming proper level, yes very dangerous spellcasters)

Legolas 01-24-2005 12:59 PM

I think they toned it down again in 3.5, I'm not entirely sure on that one though.

All in all however, regardless of details, all high level mages are big trouble.

Hehe. I sometimes feel Andrion is too powerful...

heh, regardless of system as well, whether it's Mage the ascension, AD&D, D&D, Hackmaster, Gurps, etc, etc.

Elif Godson 01-24-2005 01:21 PM

I really need to update myself on the new rules. Still stuck in 2nd Ed.

Cyril Darkcloud 01-24-2005 01:21 PM

In this game - haste has never allowed the casting of more than one spell per round. It also does not allow the caster to decrease the casting time of a spell. Don't count on that changing except for DM interventions on a case by case basis. In other words - at Larry's discretion.

Don't think of it as stuck in an old edition, think of it as fighting the man, Hasbro(now owner of WotC) can burn in heck before I'll buy version 3.76125.

{edit} Huzzah, new avatar.

I'm with you there mate.

Anyways, I'm back, so I'l read up tonight. I hear that the fight is about to begin.

Elif Godson 01-24-2005 01:59 PM

Cool beans Morg yeah Im all anxious about this coming epic battle, hehe Hopefully my aim will be true for once, I've had bad luck on called shots on these here boards :D

Morgeruat 01-25-2005 12:31 PM

rolled blue speckle, my trusty set I keep in the office, got a 15, with aiming and surprise, I would assume this is indeed a hit

damage rolled on the d6, is 5

also mirror image will have one of two effects, create several visible images (while he remains hidden), or create invisible images which will have no real effect until the invisibility is gone (they cause no effect because IIRC the images don't actually make noise, or give off scent, they merely fool the eye into seeing false images, which is enough to throw off most atackers)

If invisibilty is dealt with as a small field (suggested about 1-2 inches from the casters skin) then anything outside of that would be visible. It makes sense if the caster carries a ten foot 2x4 (rather than have the whole thing invisible it would be completely visible while the caster who carries it would be invisible). Or it could simply make the caster and all carried items invisible. In the same situation the 2x4 would be invisible, and a very effective weapon (set it up as a trip-wire, etc)

In the first case the images would be visible, but not the caster, in the second the caster and images would be invisible. (if you're looking for a simple answer, I'd just say #2)

{editted for clarity}

Larry_OHF 01-25-2005 02:01 PM

I accept that roll for damage.

Let me consider the mirror image for a moment.

<s>I'll edit this post with the answer.</s>

Thanks, Morgie for you and your office dice set.

Edit.........

Andrion: I think that I like what Morgie said about Mirror Image when he explained that it could create "visible" images of you. Since the amulet only works on your flesh...it would not carry over to the images. Since mirror image is not an actual mirror, but a magical creation of what you physically look like, the spell would not be hindered by the fact that other people cannot see you as you currently are in masked appearance, but as you actually are in reality.

I look forward to seeing you use this to your advantage.

Larry, good call on the visible images

They're a mixed blessing in this case in that on the one hand they might offer some protection by misdirecting physical attacks, on the other they allow the basic location of the invisible caster to be visually determined rather easily as the images always remain close to the caster.

Note that unlike the flawed implementation of this spell in the BG series of CRPGs, the mirror images only offer protection by misdirecting attacks seeking to specifically target the caster. They offer no damage reduction in the case of an area of effect spell or if the caster moves over a trap. Here, in fact, they make the caster more vulnerable to attacks that target a general area as they make clear the general location of the caster.

Sorry for the arrow in the head Bozo's nothing personal Ok so correct if Im wrong, we will see XXX amount of Andrion apear, but not the real Andrion or we wll xxx images of whats around him appear. This is a quick read on my way up and I may not be digesting it properly? Also what hinderances will the drow now have now that he has a concentrated blow to his head with the arrow lodged in it?

Bozos of Bones 01-25-2005 03:42 PM

C'oryt!(translation: it's all right)
And yes, I really should get some armor. I thought about getting armor off the first dude, but I thought I looked more menacing with just a halberd
So, did the arrow hit me or not? I mean, Larry, you said something about rolling damage for my loss of health, but you haven't informed me on what happened, and later you said you won't assume anything about the arrow. So untill I know whether I have a new stylish addition to my hairdo or not, I'll stay my posting, I'll stay my posting.

Just a note, I hate, hate, HATE job hunting in this city. If there's a job in this place, they give it to the least needy person they can.

Larry - I think it's about time we decided on some properties for those two green glowing swords of mine. Did you create them in the NWN toolset? Also what of my amulet and ring, did they have any properties?

Larry_OHF 01-25-2005 11:06 PM

Okay...Time to put all you to rest with the rules. What a day!

Vincent versus Kynnen:

This is the deal...while at school I did not have access to my character sheets and NWN mapping. Morgie rolled the attack and damage for me, but I did not tell him one important thing about Vincent that should now be considered. Vincent has alot of points in thief skills. That means that his called shot also counts as a sneak attack.

I will call for triple the damage of the roll, which is 15 HP loss to Kynnen.
Kynnen, the reaction is that you lost your left ear. It is now impaled on the wall by the arrow that shot it off. That's gotta hurt. Don't let it happen again! You only got one more, you know.

Another thing. The pain will be great enough for you to lose one round of fighting to shout curses and stuff.

Send me some info. I do not have anything on Silt. If it is workable in our game, I'll let you keep it, or I will suggest modifications. Tell me again about the ring and amulet. Sorry. I gotta lot going on over here! Lol!

Andrion:

Upon casting the spell, Andrion would have created 7 holograms of himself that are all within a general area of the room. That came from 2nd Ed. roll...

Roll(1d4)+5:
2,+5
Total:7

You see seven copies of Andrion in the room, all gathered together.

dplax 01-26-2005 01:31 AM

I'm leaving it up to you Larry, whether Andrion's spell is succesfull.

Morgeruat 01-26-2005 08:22 AM

Larry_OHF 01-26-2005 08:35 AM

Wow...so intense is this moment!

Alas, I have 30 minutes to get the kids ready to go to the sitters so I can get some chores done this morning. I have to wait to post.

Elif Godson 01-26-2005 09:21 AM

Morgeruat 01-26-2005 02:10 PM

Thats pretty cool, have you ever seen one of these up close? there huge!!

Larry_OHF 01-26-2005 09:13 PM

Guys,,,I am having a bad night with this homework, so I will not be able to devote any time to the game.

If possible, then continue onward, and if you have questions or need a call...please ask Cyril tonight if he is available.

Thanks, and sorry for the hold-up.
My teachers are bullying me.

Elif Godson 01-27-2005 09:34 AM

School > gaming imo ;) study away Larry, this can wait

Morgeruat 01-27-2005 10:52 AM

Don't listen to him Larry, the game is all that really matters, everything else is just fluff.

Legolas 01-27-2005 10:58 AM

Afraid not Morg. The google battle clearly shows that school and work are more important than fun and games.

Elif Godson 01-27-2005 11:46 AM

who dais anything about work??!! screw them, hehe but school generally helps broden the mind and helps with more creativity in which our case can benefit ;)

Larry_OHF 01-27-2005 12:08 PM

It looks like I covered all that I need to right now, except for the PM I got about the weapons of Silt. I need to work on that at home. I am at school now. I will have you an answer tonight before I go to bed. Is that cool?

dplax 01-27-2005 12:09 PM

Damn, no new statue for Andrion's collection.

Ok cool. I will be around for the next 6 hours or so, so hopefully you can catch me in that time period sometime. Timezones are a pain sometimes.

Legolas 01-27-2005 12:54 PM

Exactly. And we all know googlebattle is the sole authority on things like this

Morgeruat 01-27-2005 01:07 PM

wow it's even worse when you check work against roleplaying heh, btw I'd never heard of google battle till now, lol

For Plaxica's attack on Andrion, I considered the written move as one attack, and that has brought seven total attacks to the Stoneskin.

No new attacks have been recorded since Andrion began the spell. The next post that attacks Andrion voids this message.
