Bozos of Bones 09-30-2004 05:22 PM

Therlion was slumped over the horse's neck. It paced a bit at the worg howling. Therlion understood the situation, and although he didn't know how or why it was and still being quite weak, he was resolved to stand and fight with his friends. He wouldn't let them fight and risk themselves for him. But what good was he lying on the ground, as that was all he physically could do in his state. On a horse, though, he could support the band with his magic. He could be quite effective when mounted.

For Celedor:

As Celedor moves towards the orcs and the humans they are approaching he sees the father point at the advancing orcs. His older son reached into the cart and took out two long swords and threw one of them to his father. The mother and the two daughters huddled down inside the cart with the other, infant son.

The father and his son took up defensive positions and awaited the arrival of the orcs, who were now running at them outright.

OOC: you shall reach the cart at the same time as the orcs. There are a total of 13 orcs, all armed with scimitar and small shield.

Morgan_Corbesant 09-30-2004 07:24 PM

Celedor moves with more haste. He moves quickly toward the rear orcs and launches all three of his daggers into the group of orcs while on the run. As soon as the last of the daggers leaves his hand, he draws both swords from their scabbards and tries to see if he can still hit one from the rear, hoping to drop it before the others notice what has happened and where the daggers came from. From this point he will engage any orcs in his range, and attempt to vital stab any of the enemies that he can to eliminate them quickly.

For Adohorn, Therlion and Keal:

As they prepared for battle suddenly they heard another howl which came from inside the cave. Two shapes could also now be spotted. One of them was moving fast towards the group over the snow and thus was easily visible, while the other, approaching from the other side kept darting in and out from rocks.

OOC: Feel free to engage the two who are outside.

dplax 10-01-2004 07:25 PM

For Celedor:

Two of the daggers found their targets and two orcs fell. Two orcs turned around but were swept away by the onrushing Celedor's swords. Three of the remaining orcs turned around to face Celedor, while the other six engaged the father and his son.

Morgan_Corbesant 10-01-2004 10:56 PM

Celedor continues his rush toward the three orcs and just as he reaches near them he dives to the right going into a shoulder roll and stabbing out with his left sword as he does so. Rolling back to his feet he stands and positions himself to face the orcs as they come toward him. (assumeing they do) If they don't come to me, then I will go to them, slashing, blocking, countering, knocking weapons aside toward the others, etc. Once this is said and done, (and if he survives) Celedor rushes on to help defend the father and son.

dplax 10-02-2004 07:26 AM

For Celedor:

The rightmost of the three orcs facing him was taken by surprise at the trick and pierced by the sword. As Celedor rolled back to his feet something heavy bumped into his side and he was knocked over as one of the orcs rammed him with his shield. Then suddenly the same orc fell over him with a sword standing out of its back. Looking to his right Celedor could see the son reaching into the cart for another sword.

OOC: The father has also killed another orc so there remain six. Two facing Celedor and four facing the father and his son.

RoSs_bg2_rox 10-02-2004 09:12 AM

<font color=#3300FF> Adohorn had seen the Wargs from a futher distance, but had decided that it would do no harm for them to keep walking a bit; they weren't the strongest of foes and although Adohorn hadn't battled for quite some time he reckoned that he had retained enough of his previous skill to handle a Warg. If it got nasty he could always call on a greater being with his magic knowledge if the need were dire.

As the first Warg got closer Adohorn couldn't help but smirk to himself, these beasts really were fools. Whipping out his bow he pulled it back and notched his first arrow then let fly...another and another, regaining his reknowned fast paced ability, while shouting to Therlion "do what you can! But do not whatever you do, strain yourself, as that could lead to further ill health." Adohorn was ready to pull out his daggers if this Warg should make it within 10 feet of him...

</font>

Bozos of Bones 10-02-2004 09:31 AM

Therlion watched a warg pacing on the left flank, but was soon filled with Adohorn's arrows. <font color=silver>"Do not worry about me right now! Concentrate on the wargs first!</font> He noticed a movement with the corner of his eye, and turned to see a warg springing out of the cave, flying towards them. He stretched his hand out, and a large rock thrust with Therlion's magic shattered the warg's head in mid-flight. The beast dropped dead infront of Adohorn. Therlion set another rock flying towards the entrance of the cave, and a split second after it couldn't be seen in the darkness of the cave, a yelp and a thump could be heard from within it. Therlion might be weakened, but his magic wasn't. More shapes moved within the cave, and Therlion knew this wasn't over yet, but was only begining.

dplax 10-02-2004 09:48 AM

OOC: Until Keal can get online I shall control his movements.

For Therlion, Adohorn and Keal:

Keal positioned himself in a position so as to be able to defend Therlion and Adohorn from any surprise attacks.

The warg on the left died, pierced by several arrows. A lot of movement could be seen inside the cave and suddenly several wargs came bursting out and Therlion only had time to kill one of them with a magically flung rock. Four more wargs managed to break out and started circling around the group, while the warg who had been hiding among the rocks did not show himself.

Morgan_Corbesant 10-02-2004 12:09 PM

Celedor quickly gets to his feet and rushes the orcs quickly. As he nears their position he launches into a flurry of attacks to keep the orcs on the defensive. He then ducks low and tries to sweep his sword under one of the orcs shield to cut at its foot, then quickly comes up to engage the two again. Celedor will then keep in constant motion, in order to keep one of the orcs between himself and the second orc. This will leave only one orc to worry about at a time. Celedor will then move toward the orc and try to engage it. If successfull, he will move to the second orc and then continue to help the humans.

Larry_OHF 10-02-2004 06:14 PM

<font color=skyblue>Turin

Glad to see that his newly reunited friends were joining him and the guard on the chase-down, Turin spoke as he ran jogged along...

"So catch me up on the events of your journey. It appears that only the two of you survived...but I hope that is not the case. Are the others okay?"</font>

dplax 10-02-2004 07:11 PM

For Celedor:

The battle continued on but after Celedor had killed the two orcs facing him he suddenly heard a cry and saw the father falling to the ground. His son who had already dispatched another orc went into a frenzy and quickly dispatched the remaining three.

He then bent over his father and started calling him, but he was already dead. He turned to Celedor.

<font color=blue>"I thank you for your help. Without you we would have surely all perished. Would you accept this sword as a thank you.</font> - he asked taking a sword out of the cart. <font color=blue>"It is the last sword my father made. You know he is, was a swordsmith and we were just making our way to a market to sell weapons. He told me that this sword has some magical abilities, but I do not know what he was talking about."</font>

He placed the sword on the ground and then not waiting for Celedor's reply he said: <font color=blue>"Now if you would please leave me and my family to our grief."</font>

Morgan_Corbesant 10-02-2004 07:34 PM

Celedor looked at the boy and nodded silently. Going into a bow, he scooped up the sword, gathered all of his daggers, searched the bodies of the orcs, and continued toward the human village to try and track the main group.

Before leaving he turned to the boy, and simply said <font color=red>" Thank you for the sword, and I'm sorry for your father". </font>With that, he started off.

dplax 10-02-2004 07:55 PM

For Celedor:

He followed the tracks of the orcs back to where they had split with the larger group and then followed the tracks of the main body of them until he could feel the ground shaking from their marching feet and their smell with his nostrils. Celedor kept at a safe distance, but then he suddenly felt the smell of one orc getting nearer to him. Quickly hiding behind a middle sized boulder Celedor waited. Presently he heard the footsteps of the lone orc. The footsteps however stopped suddenly just on the other side of the boulder behind which Celedor was hiding, and he could hear some sniffing.

Morgan_Corbesant 10-02-2004 11:19 PM

Keeping his hand on one of his daggers and one on his new sword, Celedor stays where he is, ready to strike in a moments notice if the orc comes to look for him.

dplax 10-03-2004 07:13 AM

More than a minute passes after which Celedor hears the orcs footsteps suddenly moving away from him.

Celedor slowly peaks around the corners of the boulder to see which direction he is moving and if he has any friends nearby.

dplax 10-03-2004 01:28 PM

For Celedor:

As you look around the boulder you see a lone orc running back in the direction the rest of his group lies.

Morgan_Corbesant 10-03-2004 02:50 PM

Celedor takes this as his cue to leave, and quickly sprints off toward the oposite way of the orc. Intending on heading into the woods where he can hastily set up a booby trap to confuse the idiot orcs and help in his escape. Once in the woods, Celedor can hide in the trees and camoflouge himself if he must.

For Celedor:

Whatever Celedor does, several hours pass and no orcs come. You try wondering what the single orc meant. Had the orcs smelt him? Had they sent the orc back to check on those who were sent to attack the human family?

OOC: remember that your mission is to follow the orcs.

"We have received intellegence in which Kalam, a good man, has been set up for murder at the hands of some of Morgoth's goons. He is needed in this city to help restore it's honor and help us combat the evil, but we must hurry, or else the two that he thinks are his allies will ambush him by surprise and I cannot let that happen!

I am glad to hear that the others may still be alive. I would not want to have been responsible for sending all of you to your deaths in that place. When we get this matter taken care of and the city secured...we will go rescue our friends using your knowledge of the fortress to our advantage. We may even be able to prevent this war if we succeed!"

dplax 10-03-2004 04:04 PM

For Turin, Terias and Kirūn:

The trail of the horses which had left only twelve hours earlier could easily be followed and the little group moved on at a significant speed. Suddenly though Terias with his elven senses felt a tremor in the ground. Upon a few moments further examination he realized that a large group of horses was coming towards them from the direction they were headed in.

Keal 10-03-2004 04:34 PM

ooc:Psst IIIIII'mmm baackwhats goiing on?

Keal 10-03-2004 05:00 PM

<font color=orange>Keal draws his sword, and runs at one warg alarming one hidden beyond the rocks. "Protect Kalam!"Keal shouts as he slits the neck of one Warg, as the other leaps at him, ducks under it, then stabs it in the stomach.

Bozos of Bones 10-03-2004 05:41 PM

Therlion reflexively turned towards the other horse, at Kalam, and saw a big warg creeping up. <font color=silver>"Naar!"</font> he screamed, both in fury, and in the pain of turning rapidly towards Adohorn and magically pulling out a dozen arrows from his quiver and launching them at the warg. The sudden turning made him dizzy for a moment, and he started falling from his horse. Grabing and grappling at whatever he could, he slowed his fall, and looked again at the warg behind Kalam, who was now full of arrows. The beast made another pull at Kalam and then died. Therlion turned to keal and Adohorn to see how well they were doing. Since his gift of magic was depleted again he now relied on their skill.

dplax 10-03-2004 05:48 PM

For the group fighting the wargs:

Two more wargs are circling the group although they have moved away to a distance of 20 meters.

Morgan_Corbesant 10-03-2004 06:03 PM

OOC: Yeah, I just wanted to run into the woods in case others were following him.

Celedor realizes that the orc was alone, and continues his tracking of the orcs...while watching (and smelling) for any straglers. Trying to keep downwind and skirt the edge of the trees if at all possible.

dplax 10-03-2004 06:23 PM

For Celedor:

It took Celedor several hours to catch up with the orcs, and after that he tracked them for several more hours, right into the night, when finally the orcs made camp. As Celedor prepared to settle into a comfortable position from which he could watch them he suddenly heard a voice from behind him.

<font color=green>"Do not worry , I am your friend. I have been watching you for some time. The orc which smelt you out behind the boulder has told his companions about your presence. The orcs plan to trap you tonight. I'd suggest you come with me for the night while our men watch the orcs. Our settlement is not far."</font> - said the male elvish voice. Turning around Celedor can see an elf dressed as a ranger.

For Celedor:

The elf led him 2 miles into the forest where a rope was thrown down to them from high up in a tree and they climbed up. They spent the night up in the trees eating, drinking and talking. Celedor found out that the elven ranger was called Feldorn and that he seemed to know quite a lot about the stronghold and its surroundings. As the sun started to rise an elf suddenly popped his head up onto the felt they were on.

<font color=blue>"Glamog rinc!"</font>

Feldorn stood up and picked up his gear.

<font color=green>"The orcs are leaving. If you don't mind I shall journey with you to where the orcs are going as I have some friends there."</font>

Larry_OHF 10-04-2004 01:29 PM

OOC>>>I am taking liberties with this post in assuming my collegue would alert us of the approaching horses.

<font color=skyblue>Turin

The warning was given and Turin hand-signalled all that was with him off the road and to lay low. He had the guard that was with him took the left-side of the road and the other two (Terias and Kirun) took the opposite side. Now all there was to do was wait and see what came along. They did not know if it were friend or foe, so better to lay low and think about it in order to save time, as a battle might cost them the time they needed to save Karam's life. </font>

dplax 10-04-2004 01:41 PM

For Turin, Terias and Kirūn (hoping Cienden is still active):

Soon not only Terias but also the others could hear the horses approach. They first spotted the dust which a lot of horses would make and then they spotted the horses. As the group got closer they noticed that most of the horses were riderless. Of the near fifty horses only four had riders.

As they got nearer the guard Turin had positioned on the other side of the road stood up and waved at them. He then turned to Turin:

<font color=blue>"These men serve Kalam."</font>

The riders, seeing the guard, stopped the horses and while two of them approached the other two watched over the riderless horses.

RoSs_bg2_rox 10-04-2004 02:54 PM

<font color=#3300FF>Adohorn

As the Warg whom Adohorn had filled with arrows finally fell to the ground, it's body a meer lump which would no longer be of any use, he breathed out; not noticing that he had actually been holding his breath while shooting it. Maybe this was for extra accuracy or maybe just because he hadn't fought in a while and was nervous, but it didn't really matter for the little creature had easily been slayin.

But it wasn't over. Running out came another batch of four Wargs. They were quick to encicle the group. Adohorn, knowing from past experiences that Wargs were stupid creatures when acting alone, wasn't at all worried by this, and drew his daggers, after slinging his bow back over his shoulder. He was prepared to wait for them to attack him. He was suprised therfore, when Keal jumped out and attacked one of the beasts, and then another. He just didn't seem to have the same gracious nature as Adohorn. Still, he did manage to take the two out quickly. However this didn't bode well for the elf, for the other Wargs would no doubt attack him now, after he had killed members of their pack.

Seeing the distracted faces of the remaining Wargs, Adohorn took the time to lunge forward, pointing his daggers down, towards an eye, then a throat. The movement was over in a matter of seconds, and the Warg was left screaming with a dagger through its eye and into its throat. Adohorn didn't take great pleasure in hurting things, so he quickly finished it off with his other dagger. Pulling the two daggers out he decided he would leave the last Warg standing where it was, hoping Keal would be able to deal with it; and ran towards Therlion, who was on the ground and looked to be in some pain. He looked at the man, not knowing whether he was concious or if his efforts had fully spent him. <font size=1>"Are you ok Therlion? You look like you could use a hand, do you need anything, or any medical attention?"</font> Adohorn whispered, not wanting to startle the man.</font>

The last warg

Her companions had been easily killed by this group of adventurers, but as had happened before in battles she was the last of her group to survive. She thought about fleeing but then had a better idea. Avoiding the swinging swords of Keal the warg bounded past him and in an extremely long leap leapt at the horse upon which Kalam was and tore the horse's throat open. As Keal ran towards the warg it jumped up on some rocks then sailed over Keal and hit Therlion's horse and with its massive jaws opened its throat also. Agilely jumping away from Adohorn's kick the warg ran past Keal once again and bounded off towards the distance. Adohorn nimbly swung his bow off his back fitted an arrow in the quiver and fired and hit. Keal. Keal who had started to pursue the fleeing warg had moved in the wrong moment and Adohorn's arrow hit him in the right shoulder. The warg disappeared around a rock face.
