Seriously, i saw study on dork/geek and nerd ishness.

A dork is someone who is physically and socially inept (might have missed socailly inept before)

and seeing as we can all socialise and communicate fairly well here, i guess most of us are not dorks. Most of us are Nerds or Geeks or both.

Hey Pirate queen (And other female gamers here), how did you get into gaming? I would love to be able to get my wife into a game (any sort) but have had Zilch luck... any pointers?

Well the way I got my (now ex) girlfriend into gaming was because we are both highly competative I simply pointed out my opinion the females cant game... it certainly did the job :D

Voyager was O.K.. but wasn't anywhere as good as TNG, DS9.. And Enterprise sucked rocks... (Well, the last 8 episodes of the series were good, and only because Manny Coto did them) Berman killed Trek...

Get this-- The Producer of LOST is directing the up coming Star Trek movie! So it should be kickass... I loved First Contact.

Stargate is where it's at these days.. and the new Battlestar. (which premieres July 14th on SciFi channel btw) :D

What's the next movie about?

Uh, DS9 was OK but sometimes just ridiculous. Good storyline especially in the later seasons but terrible acting.

DrowArchmage 07-03-2006 05:43 PM

I second that! Oi boots!

The Pirate Queen 07-04-2006 02:07 AM

The next movie is supposedly going to be about Kirk and Spock before they were on the Enterprise... weird.

I think the trick to getting your wife into gaming would to be to find a genre she likes. Like for me, I don't really like first person shooters, but I eat up RPGs. There are so many differant kinds of games, you're bound to find one she likes.

QFT...My ex gf actually bought the first copy of Baldur's Gate we ever played, and I've been hooked ever since. I have since moved on to NWN's, but I own two copies of both Baldur's Gate series, and all the Icewind Dale games too, even though they will never find their way onto my computer again, go Starforce...that's the way to kill a good game...

My husband lucked out (and tells his buddies and workmates that...hehe) in that we MET because I was playing IWD and Baldur's Gate and was on a few websites that had gaming info on them when he decided to join for IWD walkthroughs and hints. So his wife actually buys him games and plays them with him. :D

Although I am not much a for fps games either. Crpg's are a lot more fun for me. Try showing her IWD or Baldur's Gate, Captain Obvious. She might like the storyline in BG or BG2. BG2 is a bit faster (not so much wandering from place to place) and maybe she'd play if you did multi-play together?

Captain Obvious 07-04-2006 04:12 PM

Tried BG2 - she simply has no idea at all. I dont think i will ever be successful. She just doesnt enjoy hacking up orcs with Carsomyr. I know, its sad, but thats how it is.

I thought she might have liked the sims, but she wouldnt even sit down and give it a go.

Ahh well, at least there is never any arguments over the computer!

Try the obligatory racing or FPS, they always rock.
