Actually yes I did know about DDT, and I also know they estimate that 30,000 people a year die from malaria and other mosquito bourne disease each year due to the inability too get enough DDT...so is the massive ban on DDT worth those 30,000 deaths? hmm death by DDT...or possible death at an older age from cancer...tough choice.

One point P&T made was that people in rich food abundant nations should "shut the (expletive) up about GM foods" when it comes to feeding those who are starving and facing death due to lack of food. Organicly grown food would only feed a small portion of the worlds population (due to low yeilds per acre), it has been and will continue to be genetic modification and tinkering that has allowed us to continually feed a larger and larger number of people with the land available for growing of food.
Asia would suffer a massive population death if they did not have access to Gm products. Africa is suffering massive numbers of deaths due to not wanting to use GM products. Errr but maybe this is getting tooo heavy for the Cafe ;)

Let me really rattle your cage, MagiK. If you're so "pro" regarding anything to feed the starving masses, then you should know we'd be able to feed 10X the population if we QUIT EATING MEAT.

But, then again, we're all familiar with my Overpopulation bone, so this is the reason I quit eating meat. And, not eating meat is not something I advocate for others - as I see it as a choice as personal as any out there.

But, for feeding the masses - corn goes much farther than pork or beef. Irrefutible.

TL your "quit eating meat" comment would make sense if it were necessary but it isn't we can feed the world without removing meat from our diet. Cattle grazing lands are nto necessarily lands well suited to raising crops and even then, to raise enough food you still end up needing modified crops, cross polination, grafting, genetic modifications all of it are needed and have been in constant use since man became agrarian. Do you think strawberries grow that big in nature? hell no...they are treeny little things smaller than your thumb.

Over population may be a problem, but not here in the US. There is plenty of room for 300million people or even 600 million on the continental US. The places where we are over populated are mostly in the Asian sphere of things.

Good afternoon folks. I see Timber is on a spamming rush as usual. ;)

Hello MagiK. Where have you been hiding? Haven´t seen you in here for some time. Have you been spamming the war forum? ;)

Fluffy is doing great once more. Creating a new boot sector as well as a new MBR seems to have made her into a happy little girl.

So the discussion on the forum is now about bras and batteries? I feel my thwacking urges arise. :D
