he should have known better to place the child over the railing. Instead, he should have held the babe close to him. when the father held the baby at the arm's length that means either there's no love or the baby needs changing. and here's another question, WHO ALLOWED HIM TO DO THAT??? I know there's someone behind the curtains watching all this. it's sad because he had money and no one can say 'no' to him. |
I was told about the Golden Rule when I was a kid -
He who has the Gold, makes the rules. (I do know about the real rule, but this one applies more!) |

I have a question for Gabriel, and any who would defend this miserable excuse for a human being. Do you have children? If not, don't bother to read the rest of this. But I can tell you, that if I were on the fourth floor of a hotel, and looked out an opened window, the very thought of holding my son out of it would physically sicken me. And, BTW, OJ was found guilty of "wrongful death" in a civil court, which has a less strict interpretation of evidence. As for "innocent until proven guilty," it applys only in the court of laws, not the so-called "court of public opinion."

Gabriel,
I haven't officially "met" you on the forum yet, so I don't want you to think I'm "picking on you", but I am going to address your question of "What is wrong with him showing off his baby?" The answer - quite simply - is....several things. FIRST - He was on the FOURTH FLOOR of the building. That's a hell of a lot different than holding your baby up or handing him to someone else to show him off. In those cases, you are NOT dangling your child over a drop that will KILL THEM!!!! SECONDLY - "Michael Jackson is in good shape". Sorry, I don't agree. He may have a good cardio-vascular system for all that dancing, but his Strength is crappy. He could BARELY get the kid over the rail to begin with. He has almost NO upper body or arm strength. And - when the baby's feet drug on the rail - Jackson PULLED ON THE BABY'S HEAD to lift him higher. I sure as HELL hope it WAS a doll, because he obviously has NO IDEA how to actual handle a child (fondling..yes, handling....no). THIRDLY - Infants are NOTORIOUS for doing the famous "back-arch" where they push with their feet and shoulders and lift their butt. They do this whenever they don't want to be held and I can tell you from personal experience that it is DAMN NEAR IMPOSSIBLE to hold the child with just one arm...even when that arm is wrapped around the kid's chest. I have 3 boys, so I know what I'm talking about here. All three of them (the youngest of which is the same age as the baby in the video) have used the "back arch" trying to slide out of my arms....that's why you ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS keep one hand under the kids BUTT!!! NOT around his head. Jackson could have caused permanent injury to the child by handling him like that. {deep, cleansing breath to calm down a bit} I'm sorry, Gabriel, I know you aren't defending Jackson's actions...you're just questioning why such a big fuss was made about them. The only thing I can tell you is that - once you have kids of your own - you'll realize just how totally idiotic and dangerous Michael Jackson's actions were. The baby could easily have slipped out of his arms and plunged to his death.....all because Michael acted without thinking about what he was doing. As a parent, there is just NO justification for that kind of stupidity. |
*applause Cerek's post* that sums it up.
mind you, I don't have kids but do have the instinct |
I know Micheals crazy but i dont get why any one liked him in the first place.

You don't need kids to figure out what that guy did was damn stupid. If not for the baby's health, then at least for his public reputation. People around the world are having this same discussion, and each person probably feels the same way...MJ is a lunatic.
I have nothing to say on the paedophile front; that is none of my affair, and nobody will probably know what 'really' went on except those intimately involved. However, if he wasn't guilty of causing a child pain in that case, then he certainly is in this one. Watch the video. As MJ begins to take the child back up, he grabs with his arm. The child is pulled sharply. It may not look like much on the video, but its there. To a baby, that HURTS. A LOT. MJ should get more than a slap on the wrist for this, as sure as eggs is eggs. |
The scoop:
BERLIN (Nov. 20) - Michael Jackson said he made a ''terrible mistake'' by holding his infant son over the railing of a fourth-floor balcony at a Berlin hotel to show fans below but shocking many people who watched the scene captured on video. Television around the world repeatedly broadcast footage of the reclusive pop star's brief appearance Tuesday at the Hotel Adlon across from Berlin's landmark Brandenburg Gate. The boy had a white cloth over his head as Jackson held him with one arm around his waist over the edge of the hotel's iron balcony railing. Fans cheered as Jackson appeared with the child, but the pop star quickly retreated into his hotel room. The child, wearing a baby blue jumper, was the singer's third and youngest, Prince Michael II, said Antje Sigesmund, a spokeswoman for the Bambi entertainment award ceremony, which Jackson is attending in Berlin. On Tuesday night, Jackson issued a statement saying he had gotten carried away when fans below the window asked to see the baby. ''I made a terrible mistake,'' he said. ''I got caught up in the excitement of the moment. I would never intentionally endanger the lives of my children.'' European media scolded Jackson for the incident, with Berlin's BZ daily calling his behavior ''foolish.'' Sweden's Expressen headlined its story ''Jackson plays with the baby's life.'' In Britain, Jackson was chastised in The Sun tabloid under the headline ''You lunatic'' and in the Daily Mirror as ''Mad bad dad.'' ''The Berlin police should arrest this negligent father for reckless endangerment of his own child,'' said an editorial by Mirror show business editor Kevin O'Sullivan. Berlin prosecutors said they were not investigating the incident, although an inquiry could be opened if a complaint was filed. Promoters of Thursday's Bambi ceremony, during which Jackson will receive a lifetime achievement award, played down the flap. ''Some people obviously found it strange, but that's why Michael Jackson has given an explanation for the incident,'' said Patricia Riekel, editor of celebrity magazine Bunte and a board member at publisher Burda, which organizes the Bambis. ''I thought it was a very spontaneous action and he loves children. I don't think it was dangerous,'' Riekel said at a news conference on the awards. On Wednesday, teenage fans still crowded the pavement in front of the luxury hotel, hoping to glimpse Jackson and breaking into intermittent screams of excitement even though Jackson was nowhere in sight. ''It was rather bizarre, what he did,'' said 17-year-old Joerg Diestel of Berlin. ''But Michael's a bizarre person.'' Maria Hunyadi, 15, from Budapest, Hungary, said, ''I thought it was dangerous, but he probably did it spontaneously.'' Uta Nierlein, a 16-year-old fan from Berlin, said, ''If I had a child I wouldn't hang him out of the window like that.'' The Chicago-based advocacy group Prevent Child Abuse America criticized Jackson's behavior, though it said the boy did not appear to be harmed. ''It is a painful reminder that even the most well-intentioned among us sometimes act in ways that put children in danger of being abused or neglected,'' said A. Sidney Johnson, president and CEO of the group. Little is known about Prince Michael II. People Magazine reported in August that he was six months old. The magazine, citing an anonymous friend, said the boy was not adopted and did not identify the mother. The singer also has two children with ex-wife Debbie Rowe: a 5-year-old boy - also named Prince Michael - and a 4-year-old girl, Paris. The couple divorced in 1999. In Berlin, Jackson was taking a break from a California courtroom where he testified last week in a $21 million lawsuit claiming he backed out of concerts. He will attend a benefit for homeless children and a charity auction where he will put a jacket and hat on the block Wednesday. |
