that seems to a very common topic. it seems like there could be enough questions to warrant its own board.
just a suggestion

I'm not sure about that, slackerboy. We already have a couple of boards that are pretty quiet. Maybe people are a bit unfamiliar with navigating between boards. I'm happy to keep editing questions to the BG2 board as long as they are BG2/Infinity Engine related. http://www.tgeweb.com/ironworks/cgi-...iles/smile.gif

Ziroc, another feature that the UBB 6 has is the ability for members to choose a "genre" when they first log on. Their rank, based on number of posts, will then determine their ranking. Eg. you could choose a genre from: Fighter, Thief, or Mage, and each genre would have their own ranking.

So, a Mage might have:

0-5 Neophyte
6-50 Apprentice
51-100 Diviner
101-150 Enchanter
151-200 Conjurer
201-250 Evoker
251-300 Necromancer

A fighter might have:

0-5 Bum
6-50 Brawler
51-100 Swordmaster

and so on. You'd need to modify the ubbmisc.cgi, ultimate.cgi, ubb_library2.pl, register_lib.pl and ubb_library2.pl files.

Cool, huh!

You must own a copy of UBB 6 then? http://www.tgeweb.com/ironworks/cgi-...es/biggrin.gif Where did you find this mod? or is it just a simple rewording of genre?

Sounds good to me, I'll head over to infopop and check into some other UBB6 mods as well. (See if they updated older UBB5 mods too) (Hoping) http://www.tgeweb.com/ironworks/cgi-...miles/wink.gif

I actually picked it up while fishing for ToB info at Black Isle. The mod goes something like this:

<font color="yellow">
Modify both the ubbmisc.cgi and ultimate.cgi file to add a new additional profile field. I believe the stock UBB has 14 profile fields already.

Have the user select which title they wish to begin at (Fighter, Mage, Thief, etc) when they register.

Edit your ubb_library2.pl file to include a check based on the # of posts per level.

(example)

if ($thisprofile[7] > 20) {

if ($CustomStatus eq "Paladin") {

$ThisStatus = "Paladin Tard Beginner
";

}
} else {
$ThisStatus = $ThisStatus;
}
}
</font>

Something along those lines. I can try and get you the full mod code if you want it. http://www.tgeweb.com/ironworks/cgi-...iles/smile.gif

That sounds like it would be really cool, so it would be a little more personal, that having 4 different Drizzts, and elminsters http://www.tgeweb.com/ironworks/cgi-...es/biggrin.gif

Yes, but they don't use UBB at the Elysium, though.

How'd you go with finding the mod code, Ziroc?
