Pandaros Pandaros smiled at the smith and entered the shop. "Nothing too fancy, I am in need of a dagger, as well as some arrowheads, if you carry them. Any information you could provide about finding work in this town would be appreciated as well." Pandaros glanced around at the weapons on display, searching for a dagger that would fit the empty sheath on his belt. |

For a few moments he let Pandaros observe the weapons on display. The most surprising items on display were the diverse agricultural instruments. Anticipating Pandaros's surprise Vindson explained: "The farmers and those who cultivate their little gardens also come to get these from me. I don't only make instruments of destruction, but also ones with which you can make things grow." He went to a cabinet at the wall, and opening it withdrew a leather pouch, which he placed on a small wooden table and then unrolled it, revealing two dozen daggers inside it. They were of all shapes and sizes. Long, short, curved, straight, with straight blades, or serrated ones. "I don't currently have any arrowheads, as they were all bought three days ago, and I haven't had the time to make any more, but if you tell me what type you want I can make them for you within a day." "And about this work thing...what type of work are you looking for? I can always use a bit of help in the smithy, but from your looks I don't think this is what you need." |

Pandaros "I suppose everyone needs the tools of their trade in good quality, whether that tool is a spade or a sword." He takes a moment to look through the daggers before choosing one with a straight edge. He tests it in his sheath and finds it to be a good fit. "This one will work perfectly. As far as the arrowheads, I like to carry a dozen or so extra conventional hunting heads while traveling in the wilds. If you can make me some armor piercing ones as well, that would excellent. As far as work is concerned, you're right in thinking that I'm not much of a smith. I'm hoping to find a caravan that needs to hire some guards. Anything where a bow and a blade can earn me my keep is a welcome job." |
Vindson
"A fine choice." - Vindson said, commenting Pandaros's choice of the dagger. "It shall cost you two gold pieces." "I shall make the arrowheads later today, this way you can collect them tomorrow." Vindson slowly stroked his chin, thinking about Pandaros's last question. "I don't remember any work of that type at the moment. A caravan left three weeks ago, and I have no idea when the next one shall." "But I can keep my ears and eyes open for you, and if I hear something I can notify you, if you want." "Just leave your name with me. You'll be staying in the inn, won't you?" |

Pandaros Pandaros fished two gold pieces out from his belt pouch and handed them to Vindson. "My name's Pandaros, and I will stop in at the tavern from time to time. I am, ah, accustomed to sleeping under the stars, however. I will come by tomorrow for the arrowheads. Thank you." The leather decked man slid his new dagger into it's sheath and took one last glance around the room at the displays of weaponry. As he exited the shop he nodded to the smith, then let his feet take over in a meandering walk around the town, taking in what sights it had to offer. |
Durston Shacal
As Pandaros exited the smith, a taller, well-built man with the toned skin of the sort who had spent his life outdoors came walking past, and entered the shop. He had dark eyes, dark hair, and walked with an assertiveness as he approached Vindson. When he spoke, his language had the rich accent from somebody outside the region, difficult to place. "My name is Durston Shacal. I have been sent here by the governers of your town, who say that you have something for me. May I see it now?" [ 12-29-2005, 09:30 AM: Message edited by: Larry_OHF ] |

Vindson looked up, as he recognized the name. The man was not exactly what he had expected him to be, but then again, the description he had been given was pretty vague. "Come this way with me. The armor is in my workshop." After locking the shop, and hanging the sign saying he was in the workshop, he led Durston to the workshop. Inside the armor was standing in the center, on top of the anvil, which had been used to forge it. "I was not able to get exact measurements for your size from Mister Locke, so if you now wish, I can set the armor's pieces to your body." |

The man did as Vindson requested and stood there as Vindson set the pieces of armor to conform to his needs. All the while, he spoke to Vindson. "These Lockes...they are rather amusing, don't you think? It was that younger one that even offered to pay me in advance with this armor when he saw what I used to wear. I guess he did not trust my abilities so much. Its not the armor, you know, that does the job. But I let them pay me in this way because I hear you make great stuff. Now I see for myself that you exceed the craftmanship of those in my land. I am well pleased to have been able to obtain this equipment from you." As Durston spoke, Vindson was fitting this piece and that, getting them to fit together in such the right way. After about an hour and a half's time, the job was complete. Durston moved about in his armor, testing it here and there, feeling the weight of it out, testing for kinks. He was very satisfied with it, and smiled at Vindson when he was ready. "I thank you, my good smith. This is truely a fine work you have performed. I will probably be back in a day or so that you might hear how things went and make whatever repairs there may be." With that, Durston turned and walked towards the door, and then out into the street. He headed for the town's front gate and onward to his destination. OOC>>>The armor that Durston wears is finely crafted, sparing no expense. It is considered a +2 for its quality and worth 40,000 gold. [ 12-29-2005, 02:02 PM: Message edited by: Larry_OHF ] |

If ye be true to ye word, some 'elp wit clean'n tables and take'n dishes to da back would be me offer. There be no adventure'n 'round 'ere. All dat's done out East from what we hear. Some crazy mage or whatever try'n to push folks 'round. Out 'ere, we just got the occasional rabid wolf or what have ye. Been quiet for a good spell. So...do ye take me offer? Ye can keep the tips, since ye prolly would anyway, eh? HAH! Well, go on, then...whatda ye say?" |
Sever could nearly have fainted. What town had he landed in where self-confessed thieves were given offer of employ based on first impression alone? The barkeep waited patiently as the initial shock wore off.
Sever glanced again at the tavern's interior. Nice. Stylish even. But absolutely nothing of value to one of his profession. He guessed the same for the areas that he hadn't yet seen. He didn't have to guess that the barkeep, amiable as he was, wouldn't let Sever within ten feet of the till. No, it was the patrons who were at risk in this venture. And a complaint from any one of them would be all the barkeep needed to end any arrangement. But even with this realisation in mind, Sever was still taken back by... What was it? The generosity? He was still mulling it over even after he'd thought of an offer that suited his needs. "I've never worked a tavern." The first words of his response were somewhat awkward. Then he realised why he felt such and shook his head with a smile - confidence returning. "But that's not to say i cannot learn. I thank you for your offer. Indeed, the generosity of it makes it hard to turn down. But i've a proposition for you that may suit both our needs better. I've always been more suited for the higher stakes kind of employment and in this area i will continue to look. If East it be, then i may head there eventually. But i like this town. And i also need to eat. For the price of a meal each night, i can help out for a few hours when it's busiest in whatever tasks that are within my ability. At least until i find some fool's errand to pursue at any rate. So my good barkeep, what do you say? |
