Near Midnight, Mystral's place.

As Mystral sat on her bed still shivering and wondering when the world went crazy, or perhaps it was only she who was crazy. She turned the business card over and over, but it was simple, plain and left very little to go on, just a local number, and "Doc119" embossed on it. As you concentrate on it you notice that parts of it are raised up, but very minutely, and in the dim light of your small apartment you can barely make out a symbol that looks like a square with circles at the four corners and lines from the center connecting to another circle in the middle. Somehow you know the symbol means protection, or safety.

(ie please ignore the "." they are simply placeholders)

For Cornelius

The "family" had left instructions to play along, and work towards whatever goal "Orrick" had in mind, they related that he was known to be very powerful and dangerous enough to put them on edge, as well as being safe from attempts to "remove" him. They once again expressed that caution was of utmost importance, as well as avoiding drawing attention to your "benefactors".

Cornelious did not know much of the mission, but he had been instructed to play along, and make sure 'the family's' interests were protected. "I don't know about this Orrick guy, but I like his style," Cornelius thought as he saw the vampire smirking after he threw the other one out the window. "A little public, but it was smart to make the point early to the other vampires, that he was not to be messed with." Cornelius already knew this, but that was about all he knew. He had heard some rumors of some of the city dwelling vampires being killed, he could only guess that that is what this mission was regarding. There was only one way to find out though, and that was wait to be told. He knew how dangerous it could be to ask the wrong questions and he was sure one of these other fools would probably get around to it, so he just chose to bide his time.

OOC: No offense intended, cornelius is just an arrogant prick ;) he is going to be interesting to play I think. I've never made a character quite like him.

Brrr... make mental note, NEVER to say hi to strangers for maybe the next century... ~ She hugged her dirty little soft toy close to her heart ~ Well, here we are together, Beaulie. Christmas Eve, staring at a business card... how original. ~ Yet her trembling hands, looped under the doggie's forearms, clung desperately to the card.

"This is crazy." ~ She spoke aloud at last, dragging herself out of bed and walking across the room to turn on the television ~ "Let's have a movies night, Beaulie, and try to inject some sense into this day."

As the show - she would soon forget the title, and sooner, the contents - played on, she stared almost blankly at the screen and yet ejecting forced laughs ~ We'll be safe, Beaulie... we'll be safe... ~ Slowly, her eyelids lowered, as did her exhausted body, into the bed.

Before long, she was snoring gently into the dark brown flappy ears of her beloved toy.</font>

ooc- I just have to say "awww" to Mistral.. the toy sounds so cute ^^ ...how typically girly of me to say that.. ¬¬;;

ic- A slight figure stood balancing precariously on a chainlink fence nearby the casino. Overhearing the loud crash and the shattering of glass, the creature almost lost its balance but was able to recover it quickly. It wore slightly ragged, slim-fitting bootleg jeans of a dark faded blue. Peeking out from under the jeans one could glimpse a pair of well-worn sneakers, one of the laces untied. For a top, the being wore a generic hooded sweatshirt of a black colour, and a strange symbol written in red on the front. A loose cap was pulled down over the dusky blonde hair, effectively hiding the person's eyes. A passerby could easily mistake the creature for a young man, its hands stuffed nonchalantly in the pockets of the jeans, walking dangerously on the top of the chainlink fence. Suddenly the being paused, and turned to face the casino from its vantage point on the fence. It tipped its cap up, revealing two eyes of a strange blue violet hue, which stared at the casino with an unreadable expression.

<font color="thistle">"Where are you, Barakah? I need you."</font> Gwynne sighed and pulled her hands from her jeans' pockets, crossing her arms below her chest. She balanced easily upon the chainlink fence, and she prided herself on her ability to do so. She was wearing one of her more comfortable outfits, even though she knew Barakah would disapprove of its appearance, which she could run easily in if she ever encountered something that would involve her running away. Gwynne licked her lips and then crouched down on the fence, balancing back on her haunches. Her body was craving that drug again, but she pointedly ignored it. She knew she could do nothing about it until Barakah chose to show up again. Gwynne shivered slightly as a cool breeze blew by, wafting scents of humans and food to her sensitive nose. <font color="thistle">"Barakaaaaaahhhh..."</font> she called mournfully in her mind, as the lights of the casino twinkled in the night.

ooc heheh Mystral you can assume you slept through the night peacefully, sheer exhaustion (mental and physical) has kept your mind from terrifying you with nightmares of the thing you saw last night.

for the others

You see a young woman walking along the top of a fence, balancing like a professional acrobat, and watching the proceedings with interest, she appears to be a normal human to your senses but she has an unearthly grace that doesn't seem to fit with her worn clothing and dirty rugged appearance.

OOC>>> Teehee... thanks, Skye Did I mention that I'm at the wrong end of my 20s and still doing that at home? Erm, well, not really with a toy puppy, but pretty much the same... *slinks away shamefully*

Morgeruat, I'll wait for your next post for my character, then. I sure am glad the pace of the story is picking up :D

Bakilas ignores Thalali's question and examines the creature balancing on the fence. Part of him wants to go over and see exactly who or what it is, but another part of him is pissed off about being thrown out of the window and being denied his bit of fun tonight.

After a bit of thinking he turns away and re-enters the club.

<font color=steelblue>Storm looks in the direction that his fallen friend had been looking, seeing a strange person upon the fence, then as he was staring at her, realizes that the wingless vampire has returned to the bar. Looking at Thalali, Storm inquires, "so...do you think this night could get any more wierd?" He points at the mysterious person.</font>

OOC:man, this sucks, I lost my 2nd install disk for NWN, is it illegal to download it if I already bought it?

Thalali turned away from the rude vampire and looked at Storm.
"I wouldn't doubt it, too much has happened, why stop the freaky streak eh? Thalali then turned and watched the creature balancing on the rail.
