No, technically "Morrissey" doesn't refer to a band, but to one person. You may go to a Morrissey concert and notice a backing band, but in general, they aren't part of the Morrissey-entity in itself. For the same reason, David Bowie and Prince aren't considered to be "bands", either - even though they're never alone on stage. I for one would not have accepted "Morrissey" as a correct answer. David Gilmour made several albums under his name - would you have accepted "David Gilmour" as an answer instead of Pink Floyd, for that matter? Same thing. ;)
