Yes, I am sure there is a remote possibility that he taught the fishes around him to undo his bonds, but judging from the movie, he apparently got stuck there forever and ever.

Every 5 or 10 years they need to make a really fun Pirate romp. THis is the one for this decade. I give it 9 of 10 stars and have to say I really enjoyed it.

Depp played his part to a T and his entrance into the movie was one of the best ever entrances Mysticelt and I realy liked the movie. A must see.

I saw it today with my wife. We both loved it. It was a must see at the theatre movie because of all the effects. As you mentioned the Depp entrance was superb :D and set the tone for the rest of the movie. Did anyone else think that if the movie was made 20 years ago only Tim Curry could have played the camp Jack Sparrow role? It was brilliant over the top acting, it even beat Dustin Hoffman’s pirate in Peter Pan. Special mention to Geoffrey Rush, people said who the hell.... after the obscure Australian actor won the best actor Oscar some years ago. This was cement to his growing reputation.

That's weird, that. Every time I mention Geoffery Rush to people, the usual response is 'who?'... Damn fine character actor. He has a certain flair in over-the-top roles, too (c/f Marquis de Sade, 'Quills'; Casanova Frankenstein, 'Mystery Men). A man to watch.

I saw the movie last week with my girlfriend (she loves Orlando "Legolas" Bloom), very entertaining I must say. Great acting by Johnny Depp (IMHO the only actor in the film who did not just deliver a stereotype, but hey, it was pirateactionentertainmentmovie - so who cares). But I never really got the point in the skeletons - what was that for?
By the way: Monkey Island is a very good association, Tancred. I was wondering all the time what certain settings and costumes reminded me of. Now I know.
