What I'd like to see is probably not possible, but I think it was a nice feature of Bg1.

You know in BG1 when you rested, some monsters in the Dungeon would respawn. I liked that. You can't go to sleep in an ennemy stronghold and expet them to keep standing there. Of course they'll reinforce their positions.

In Bg2 it's not like that, so most players simply rest after each fights. You create a sorcerer, get into a fight, use up all your 9th level spell against that goblin, and then rest. That unrealistic and game breaking, in my opinion. The game was not made taking into consideration you would use all your most powerfull spells and items in every fights.

Even if you limit the Invisibility ability of the Staff of the Magi to 10 per day, it simply mean players will be able to use it 10 times per fights. That's still a lot.

I don't know where you live, maybe some bizzaro world where armys are made up of demented loonatics rushing around non-stop with toothpicks (guns are too powerful to be used in every fight), crazied from lack of sleep (resting after you fight is cheating), but not rushing to attack mind flayers with 2 magic missles and "friends" memorized is something people like to do.

Dude! Relax already! Not everyone shares the same opinion!

One mod idea that occurred to me was provisionally titled The Downgrade Mod.

Guess what I'm doing right now? :D

It's not all Downgrading, though. Some items go up, some items go down, some just get changed around a bit. Celestial Fury only has a chance to Stun the victim 20% of the time, now, Ardulia's Fall is +3 enchanted with a much better Slow effect, and the Staff of the Magi casts Invisibility 10 times per day, instead of granting it each time you equip the weapon.

So, hopefully, somebody carrying the Flail of Ages and someone else wielding Halcyonn will be able to pass each other in the street without either of them feeling guilty, of busting out laughing at the other guy.
</font>
You know what I'd like? A random magical item generator. To hell with this, when we all know the location of every single magical item, and in fact undertake some quests with the sole aim of getting said item - I'd like magical item acquisition to be more like Diablo's, when you really have no idea what you're gonna get or where you're gonna get it or even if you're going to get anything at all. I'd like to see all the magical items in the game taken away and replaced by this random feature - and if the items from the game do appear, then they'd be significantly reduced in power. The truly powerful artifact-level weapons would still be there, perhaps, but because of the random-o-magic thing you woudn't be guaranteed the Ultimate Weapon To Take Them On.

That would solve this problem we have by which some item categories are poorly served, for example.

Oh, yes... get rid of those standardised +1, +2 etc weapons, too. And magic item shoppes, except possibly the Mart, and even then randomise their stock.

I want more roleplaying opportunities

Someday I'm gonna play a game with noname items !

So only a katana +3 or warhammer +2 or ... and not using the GREAT Celestial Fury and his relatives.

And I will not swap weapons in the inventory, only in weapon slots.
Could feel a very roleplaying game. ;)

I'd like for items that have been previously indentified, to automatically be indentified in the future. For example, if you identify a short sword+1, and later pick up another short sword+1, you shouldn't have to identify it.

Pyrenk 08-20-2003 02:00 PM

Indentified? :D

A Keyring would help-like the one in Arcanum. All your keys go on it, and it only takes up one slot.

But it's a different Short Sword +1! Unless you're assuming all the Short Swords +1 in the world were made using the same method by the same man... I'm sure they're not supposed to look identical.

Well they sure as hell look identical to me when I'm looking at the picture Tancred!!
