So in answer to your question, yes, it'll work. Then again, i was a Cavalier, and i has Greater Whirlwind in my possession... ;) Be sure to maximize (minimize, actually) your THAC0 and to haste yourself.

Actually... This may prove to be a winning bet! If he's using PfMW, pound him with a reguler quarterstaff. When he switches to Improved Mantle, show him that there's more to the Staff of the Magi than just Spell Trap and cheesy Invisibility!

Muuuuuhaaahahaahaaahaaaaahaaaaa...I have done it - slain the "mighty" Irenicus with my quarter staff. Lysander Rift has reclaimed his soul, and Irenicus burns in the pits of hell.

The last thing he saw, surrounded by stinging insects, was the butt end of my staff flying towards his face.

It is a fun fight, isn't it?
All the Improved fights are, but this one probably tops them all.

Definetly the most challenging, most enjoyable, most dramatic and most rewarding battle I have fought so far.

The improved version blows the old version out of the water.

I have yet to play TOB-Ascension yet, however, so I hope it is equally good.

You'll love the final Ascension fight ... I found itto be more challenging than the Improved Irenicus .. had my heart beating at 100 bps for the entire duration of the fight the first time ;)
The second the final boss revealed the nature of the fight i thought to myself:
You've got to be kidding me, that's impossible .. ended up being fun [img]tongue.gif[/img]

I think the evil way of doing it is harder though ...

There are two Rings of Wizardry in the game - one from the Wizard's Stronghold, and one from J's personal quest.
