In fact the main purpose of the easily spotted ones is to fool the ascender into overlooking the others.
The door is indeed closed and barred.
And on reaching the first floor, you may well be distracted by some wailing. Not only that but you'll have to walk around three upturned tables just to be able to continue on upwards.

I had completely forgotten of Nanashi and the guards. I will edit in the morning, as it is 2.20am here and I need sleep.

Larry_OHF 02-12-2005 12:32 AM

Silt: We now have a problem. Okay, so you will be editing your post to mention that you have begun to climb the stairs...and that it will take you a little time to get to the top...as Legolas and I mentioned. But now Nanashi is on that same trail.

I am having a hard time deciding if she is ahead of you...behind you...or you may meet along the way.

Whatever the case may be...I am not ready to make that call yet. Just go ahead with your post edit and maybe I will have an answer to this riddle tomorrow.

Good luck to you on my decision. If you encounter her alone and on the stairwell...you will not be as lucky as you were before.

TAO, that's about as far as I can take your character for the time being. And so, assuming your computer troubles will soon be a thing of the past, I hereby resign my commission :D

RoSs_bg2_rox 02-12-2005 07:53 AM

Larry, I had thought Nanashi was with the guards. Weren't they some way up the stair?

Legolas 02-12-2005 08:17 AM

Yes. The fighting took place in a chamber next to the ballroom which leads to the stairs. One floor directly above the ballroom is the dining area, where Nanashi has just finished killing two guards and learned where Larry is. Since he is at the very top of the stairs, that is where she is headed. Since Silt is also going there, they may well bump into one another.

Larry_OHF 02-12-2005 08:49 AM

Yeah...I just have to figure out who started climbing the stairs first...so as to see where each of us would be placed on the staircase. I have to count up my minutes. This could work for you or against you...

Larry_OHF 02-12-2005 08:55 AM

Lol! @ Kynnen: That was a great post! Damn you human mage! hack hack hack...

Bozos of Bones 02-12-2005 09:56 AM

Hehe, I live to hack :D erm... people's heads, not their computers
I think I'll take meself that ehavy armor, but I'll go with Cyril's advice about the size of it.

Larry_OHF 02-12-2005 10:03 AM

Legolas will have to give a description of the armor, as it is his. I do not have the exact make and model of it at this time...

Legolas 02-12-2005 10:36 AM

As taken from the 2E player handbook:

Quote:

Full Plate: This is the impressive, high Gothic-style armor of the Late Middle Ages and Renaissance. It is perfectly forged and fitted. All the plates are interlocking and carefully angled to deflect blows. The surfaces are normally highly ornamented with etching and inlaid metals. Each suit must be carefully custom-fitted to the owner and there is only a 20% chance that a captured suit can be refitted to a new owner of approximately the same size. The metal plates are backed by padding and chain mail. The weight is well-distributed. The armor is hot, slow to don, and extremely expensive. Due to these factors, it tends to be used more for parades and triumphs than actual combat.
The ornaments and etchings in this case are further complemented by the copper coating, much like a gilder would tap thin slabs of gold onto the surface to adorn. It helps the wearer stand out amidst other armored figures.
The armor's seen some wear and tear, particularly in the last combat, but the dents are minor and scorchmarks and peeling copper shouldn't damage the functionality much. As he should, Marcos has done his best to ensure the suit remains in optimum condition

As far as taking it apart goes, let's see.
Apart from all the padding and the hose, we have the Pauldrons, Mail Gussets, Breastplate, Plackart, Couter, Fauld of Four Lames, Tasset, Cuisses, Poleyns, Greaves, Chain Sabatons, Mail Chausses, Gauntlets, Culet of Three Lames, Mail Gussets, Guard of the Vambraces, Revebraces, Gardbraces and Mail Standard. I think.
It's a complete set except for the helmet, in any event.

dplax 02-12-2005 01:35 PM

Is it just me, or was this battle a good deal for Kynnen? Just a few minutes ago he was a prisoner with no items and now he gets the items of three adventurers... :D

He has his own worries.
For example....when he goes outside into the daylight.
A drow suffers many penalties...so if anyone were to want to kill a drow, then they should know when and where to do it. :D

By the way...it is nighttime right now, as was established most recently in a post by Cyril posing as Tao, speaking to Plaxica.

Bozos of Bones 02-12-2005 02:15 PM

Don't worry, I'll give back the items once I'm killed. If I'm killed :D
I'll go post now. And a thanks to Legolas for the armor details!

dplax 02-12-2005 03:10 PM

EDIT: Bozos edited his post, so my objection is removed.

The events with TAO and Plaxica are a bit ahead of the rest of the group. Remember that Plaxica has had to travel a good distance while not much time has passed inside the castle. So be careful about tying the time of day in the castle to what is happening elsewhere as the timelines are currently out of sync with each other. They'll remain that way until the battle in the castle concludes and we can deal with the passage of lengthier periods of time for those characters.

If events outside run too far ahead, I'll slow them down. But for the moment it's full steam ahead as it's not fair to TAO and dplax to hold their characters up indefinitely while things get sorted out in the castle.

Morgeruat 02-12-2005 11:09 PM

Morguerat's shadow walk ability is a hold-over from the time he was a general for Larry, due to the rapid sequence of events surrounding his betrayal and subsequent near-death it was overlooked that such granted powers were still being offered (as upon his death they would have automatically reverted to the mage).

TAOWolf 02-13-2005 02:22 AM

okay, testing

dplax 02-13-2005 02:01 PM

So Andrion casts his spells in latin and the mage casts in spanish...most interesting.

Cyril Darkcloud 02-13-2005 02:08 PM

A simple couple steps forward through the opening will return Larry and Morguerat to the lands of IronWorks.

There is no indication of threat in the stranger's voice. In fact, it sounds rather trustworthy.

Nobody's waiting on me for something, are they?

I will be looking forward to your posts!

dplax 02-14-2005 09:06 AM

Andrion is waiting on what his new owl smell can smell at the bottom of the staircase.

Morgeruat 02-14-2005 09:17 AM

I'm sick with Bronchitis I think, if you need my characters to move to advance the plot, feel free to do so. *wraps up in a blanket and goes back to bed*

Legolas 02-14-2005 11:10 AM

Andrion, Kynnen, and particularly Silt are treated to a deafening noise. Anything above, and partially inside, the fifth floor is now gone. That is to say, it lies in ruins in the courtyard. A fresh breath of wind is doubtlessly chasing down the stairs already.

Aren't you glad you didn't run all the way up now?

Meanwhile, Morguerat and Larry managed to escape well enough ahead of time to be totally oblivious to the happenings, whilst Ana and Yevaud would see the top of the castle vanish, and hear the impact from behind the walls.

Don't let the fact that no PCs got hurt fool you into thinking this wouldn't have happened otherwise.

RoSs_bg2_rox 02-14-2005 12:36 PM

Guys I'm going out to a party, and I won't be back till tomorrow, possibly night. So I will post as soon as I can.

Larry_OHF 02-14-2005 05:16 PM

A most excellent work, Legolas. You exceeded my own vision for how it would happen.

to Silt and Kynnen: I will trust you to post your reactions to the rush of wind and dust and rubble that be coming your way. No damage has to accounted for. But this improves your chances of meeting one another now.

TAOWolf 02-14-2005 07:25 PM

3 huge tests popped up.. have myposts 1/2 typed.. will try to finish them tomorrow night and get them up.. sorry...

Larry_OHF 02-14-2005 11:46 PM

Cyril, you're one hard-working crazy man!

Cyril Darkcloud 02-15-2005 12:03 AM

OK - That's enough mayhem for one day.

A tip o' the hat to Morg for the assist with the Valentine's Day post. That was a great find

Larry_OHF 02-15-2005 01:55 PM

I know somebody can post something!!!

Is it time to call out the banewolves again?

Legolas 02-15-2005 02:00 PM

Well, I could post that Larry, your last post was an excellent addition to the description of the scene. Other than that, I've relinquished control of the three guards, the duchess just fell from great height and the pally is dead, so the best I can do for you is steer another new npc or two.

dplax 02-15-2005 02:10 PM

I can make another Andrion post, but I'm not sure whether it is time for him to post or no.

Larry_OHF 02-15-2005 02:54 PM

Sorry, dplax. I realized that I misled you in a PM. Please let me send another PM to explain.

For all of you that may have read that post before I edited...disregard what you read. Pretend you never saw it.

Larry_OHF 02-15-2005 03:15 PM

For Everyone:

Now that the PvP battle is over, there is more liberty to move.

* Silt and Kynnen are in the same circle of posting.

* Anarrima and Yevaud are in the same circle of posting.

* Tao and Plaxica are in the same circle of posting.

* Larry, The Newcomer, and Morgie are in the same circle of posting.

* Andrion is alone in posting, but dependant obvious factors.

* The Dead rot in the same circle of rotting.

Larry_OHF 02-15-2005 03:16 PM

Class time!
See you all tonight and look forward to moving forward!

Elif Godson 02-15-2005 03:21 PM
