OOC: ROFLMAO Larry. I actually meant the guard to be swinging the sword at Turin, but now that you have posted I'll play along. The game IS freeform. :D
For Turin and Roland: Turin's black sword flew in the air with the aim to sever the neck of the target, but the winds were treacherous that day. The sword spinned in the air and it was the hilt of the sword which hit the guard. Severely shocked and hardly able to breathe the man fell to his knees, clutching at his throat with both hads, gulping for air. Visibly he was out of the combat. Turin's sword is about a foot in front of him. Kalam's man had thrown his weapon on the floor and was a while retrieving it then just as the suicidal soldier was about to strike him, he hit his hand heavily with the broad side of the sword. With a cry of pain the suicidal soldier dropped his weapon then turned to face his attacker. "Why don't you let me die?" Then suddenly he spotted his companion's sword and lunged at him, skewering himself on the sword. |
For Keal and Therlion:
"What do you mean set up, what are you talking about?" |
Satisfied that Kalam's wounds were closed, Therlion explained "Lord Easthome claimed the mountain men you were referring to are barbarians that frequently attack a nearby town. His town. He is in league with Morgoth, and we are not." Therlion surmised that a dwarf conversing with two elves is good enough sign that that dwarf wasn't an enemy. He pointed at Kalam "That there is his son, the one he sent out to fight with the mountain men. His troops tuned on him, and we barely won out of the chaos. He is the only chance for that settlement to turn to us, and abandon Morgoth, and untill we can be ready to strike at lord Easthome, he must be protected at all cost." He looked at the kettle. "How much more must the herbs be boiled?"
|
The dwarf:
"I do not care about things like wars and Morgoth. I am only an old dwarf exiled from his home because of Ardana long ago." He handed the new set of herbs to Therlion. "Crush these leaves. They shall let off an odour which should wake the young Easthome up. Then he should drink this tea." He handed a mug of steaming hot tea to Keal. "These together should slow the poison down, but the fact that he did not wake up to the leaves pressed under his nose is a sign that I myself cannot cure this poison. It seems that Ardana is your only chance I just can't see why she would help you. When you've finished tending for him, I'll tell you that sad story." OOC: Kalam is going to wake up from the smell of the crushed leaves, but after drinking the tea he shall drift back to sleep. [ 09-14-2004, 01:24 AM: Message edited by: dplax ] |
Therlion went to crushing the leaves. He wiped sweat from his forehead, and smelled his fingers to check if the herbs were already letting out the odour. "I believe this is it." he handed the dwarf a moist green lump. "I must go outside, check on the horses. I will be back in a moment." He said and left ducking through the door, not waiting for Haine or Keal to say anything.
Outside, Therlion sat on a stump and pulled out the weapons he found after the battle. Most of them were bloody, and Therlion picked up the dagger that wounded him and looked at it. He reached inside a pocket, and pulled out some of the herbs the dwarf gave him to crush. He recognised the leaves and the stench as an agent that he himself used to identify liquids. He crushed it in his hand and smeared it over the blade. After a moment, Therlion moved his fingers above the blade, in conjuring a small spell. The blade glew green briefly, then yellow, and then was back to normal. Therlion sighed, and wiped the sweat from his forehead with his sleeve. As I suspected he thought. He put the weapons away, and headed towards the house. Reaching for the door, he missed the knob and stopped. He put a hand to his forehead and closed his eyes. A few small movements with his head, and he opened his eyes again. He proceeded inside the house. |
For Keal and Therlion:
The dwarf snapped his head when Therlion entered the cabin again and with a glance understood what was happening. While Therlion had been outside he had prepared some tea for them to drink and now took the mug he had prepared for Therlion and put some of the leaves in it. "You have been poisoned by the same poison this human has been. You are lucky you are an elf and managed to get this far with it in your system. Here drink this tea!" He handed the steaming hot mug to Therlion. |
He took the mug. "Thank you. Yes, it is true, I have been poisoned in the battle. It is the same poison as Kalam's." Therlion turned to Keal and continued "I regret having to hide this from you, friend, but I did not believe it was this serious." he started drinking the tea, butwavered. He was falling from the chair in which he sat on, and he was trying to gulp down as much tea as he could before crashing to the floor. The ground crashed into him before he thought, and the world had gone black.
|
Keal doesn't drink from the mug fearing he will go to sleep before he hears the tale."What did he mean, Haine?"
|
For Keal and Therlion:
The dwarf stooped down next to Therlion and applied the same treatment to him as they had applied earlier to Therlion, then he took a blanket from the cupboard and covered the unconscious Therlion with it. "It seems that you shall have to resolve this problem on your own, master elf." - he said looking at Keal. "But before you go, I shall tell you the story about Ardana. After that it shall be up to you to convince her." "The story of Ardana goes back to when I was still a young dwarf. It was the time when humans, the second children of Ilùvatar appeared in the world. Ardana was the daughter of one of the tribes chiefs, while a young man called Irdion Easthome led another tribe. The two tribes wanted to put their hands on the same land where now the Easthome's city is. But the young Easthome fell in love with his enemies daughter. In a secret meeting with her father they agreed that he gets the daughter while Ardana's family gets the site of the city. Everything went well for some time, but Ardana's father wanted his rival killed and managed to convince his daughter to help him. It was her who poisoned Irdion Easthome, who died from the poison within a few hours. However there was a witness to the treachery. Young Blird Easthome Irdion's brother had been watching from behind some curtains. It wasn't until only much later that he understood what had happened with his brother. But when he did he swore revenge against Ardana's family." "When this happened it was already Ardana and her new husband who ruled their tribe since Ardana had also assassinated her father. Blird however rebelled against her and gathered the enslaved tribe of the Easthome's around himslef and in a large and bloody battle defeated them, killing Ardana's husband and capturing Ardana herself. She was ready for death, but he did not give her this gift. Instead she cursed her so that she suffered eternally for her sins until an Easthome released her of this curse. In return for this Ardana cursed the family of the Easthomes so that all of them die before their times and die violent deaths. Bling was killed three years later in a boar hunting accident, when the boar skewered him. His wife was but pregnant with his new son." "Ardana left and came to the mountains where she caused much misery to my tribe of dwarves, which led to me being sent away for ever from my tribe. Then our tribe made her go even deeper into the mountains. It is said that she has gone to live in a cave high at the top of a cliff, where there is already snow during the whole year." The dwarf who wasn't really called Haine then described to Keal the way he had to take his two companions so that he reached this cave. "I wish you good luck in convincing her to help you." - he looked at Kalam's pale face. "You had better hurry for the human's sake." OOC: from the description you work out that the cave is about half a day's journey deeper inside the mountains. Kalam and Therlion are unconscious so you have to take the two bodies along with you somehow. |
Turin and company
Practicaly, as soon as it started it was over. The fighting men were no match for the more experienced Turin and Roland. There lay four bodies on the ground, and one guard had come clean and confessed to being a spy in the service of Easthome's son...and therefore an ally to Turin. Turin watched as Roland cleaned his blade on the clothing of the last man he had pierced with it, and then he gathered the two men together. "Now we must make haste to save the young sire and help place him in power in this town. As you know he is in danger for his life at this moment a the hands of the villians. Roland, go make sure that Robyn is safe. The two of us will catch up to the murderous party and their unkowing victim." OOC>>>I can't remember his name! Anyway, does this plan work with everyone? |
Roland nodded and sprinted back to the house and kept his hand near the hilt of his weapon. He slowly opened the front door and walked to Robyn's room.
|
OOC: Larry is it Kalam you can't remember?
For Roland: You open the door of Robyn's room and you find that the room is empty. A short scan shows you that some clothes are missing. A hurriedly written note is on the table. "Dear Turin and Roland, I managed to write this note while I asked the guards to leave the room while I dressed. They told me that Lord Easthome wanted to see me in the town hall. I hope everything is alright. Robyn" [ 09-20-2004, 03:08 AM: Message edited by: dplax ] |
The image of a dark green forest infront of Therlion made him feel at home. He saw the animals going about their business, and the birds flying in the sky. This was untouched nature, the magical wilderness. Suddenly, the mage Enaduin appeared infront of Therlion. "Only in nature. Only from the nature." he said and gave Therlion a dark blue talisman, enchanted with runes. He vanished and in Therlion's head the ringing warning echoed "Sacrifice this for your life. Sacrifice nature." Therlion looked around to see a squirrel sitting high on a branch, eating a nut, and looking at him. Therlion was happy that he might probably never use the stone. Then, he remembered where he was. He had passed out in Haine's room, weak from the poison inside him. The events of the last few weeks rushed through him in a dizzy. Keal was about to take him and Kalam to Ardana, a healer. He now debated if it was worth destroying a part of a forest to save his life, and help Keal in saving Kalam's. No, he was confident that Keal would deliver them in time, there was no need for the talisman's power.
His hand moved and took the talisman in it's firm grip. [ 09-20-2004, 05:33 AM: Message edited by: Bozos of Bones ] |
The balrog
The stronghold's commander brooded in silence on the highest level of his stronghold. The prisoners were still on the loose in his stronghold and no word had come back from the human ally they had, called Easthome. In the letter which had been delivered to the son he had told him to kill the group and send him the heads back. Had they betrayed him or had their plans gone sour? Either way he had to check on them. They felt foolish enough to disobey him. He summoned one of his orcish commanders to himself and told him to gather three hundred orc to him and see to it that his orders were carried out. The balrog also made special care of explaining to the commander that Easthome had to be punished for his foolishness. He then sent for Arandor who had been stalking the stronghold the whole day and told him to seal off all of the exits of the stronghold and to kill all prisoners he could find. [ 09-21-2004, 07:51 AM: Message edited by: dplax ] |
OOC: since Sythe and Keal don't seem to be able to get online too much I shall move the plot along a bit tomorrow afternoon, if they don't post until then.
|
"Terias decides that it would be a good idea to try out the strong metal door before leaving the corridor completely, so he walks towards the door..
|
OOC: The Fallen One: since you seem to be the only one active in the stronghold group, I'll have you escape in one big post, so that your char can interact with the others.
For Terias and the others: The door did not open at first. The footsteps behind the group were getting closer and closer. Oronuin tried with all of his force to open the door but it did not budge. Then suddenly Oronuin's father recovered from his unconsciousness and with a wavering hand pointed at a point in the wall. Examining it the group found that it was actually the activating mechanism of the door. They pulled it and were met on the other side of the door by several guards who were burnt to cinders by Terias's fireball. Outside the group was in fresh air, high up on the mountainside. A meandering path could be seen leading up into the mountains, but further away it split and it seemed that one of its branches led towards the ground level. The decision was made to follow this path. Oronuin and Kirûn took turns in carrying Oronuin's father. After several hours journey they reached the forests of the elves and were kept there for the night. In the morning they parted from Oronuin who decided to stay there until his father was healed and left to see what had happened with the other part of their original group. After several days journey they spotted the town in the distance, just before nightfall. OOC: that even solves the time differences between the two groups. The time now is the same for everyone in the game. Terias can barely make out the outlines of a figure in front of the town gates: Turin. |
For Adohorn (with some info for Therlion and Keal:
Adohorn had been wondering the wilds for several years now since his last encounter with anyone. His companions had been the animals and the trees. With his trusted bow he could find food for himself and when he encountered wild animals his twin blades came in handy. He usually avoided inhabitated areas, prefering solitude. However lately the hunt had not been good and his clothes were starting to get too much used away, so he decided to make a visit in one of the human's towns where he was less likely to be recognized. However on the way there he encountered a most peculiar sight. Humans were fighting amongst each other and it seemed an elf was on one of the sides. He then watched two elves taking a human with them up towards the mountain. His curiosity arised he followed them from a distance then saw them enter a hut he knew belonged to a dwarf. Having no idea of what was going on he made the decision to check out what was going on. Unfortunately he could not see through the curtains, he could only hear voices drift out from the inside. He learnt several things this way. He knew the poison described and knew of its effects and his heart was drawn towards helping the poisoned elf and human. Therefore he went to the front door and knocked. "Who is it?" - the dwarf said after opening the door. |
Adohorn
"Hello there...sorry to intrude. I just caught a glimpse of civilization in you and your party, something I have not seen for some time; I hope my intrigue will not bother you...now what was it again...sorry I'm a bit rusty on names...Durling; yes that's the one. How do you do Durling? I am Adohorn the Duskwalker, a wanderer of this vast land and elf of great passion, I seem to recall I met you several hundred years ago, you looked so much younger and less troubled back then, although I suppose age does take it's toll on all of us. I for one have lived through enough to have first hand experience on this, but ah this is life and all. But anyway I am diverging again sorry. I couldn't help overhearing that a fellow elf and human lay unconcious through the effects of poison. I would like to offer my assistance to them. I may aswell do something useful with this life of mine, I have been feeling like a bit of a failure for these last couple of centuries. So, what do you think Durling? Can I be of use." edit for sig [ 09-28-2004, 06:14 PM: Message edited by: RoSs_bg2_rox ] |
For Adohorn, Keal and Therlion:
A look of surprise and then recognition could be seen on the dwarf's face suddenly. "Durling? ... Yes. That was my name in an age long past now. These lands were more peaceful in those times and evil was less in the world. I am sorry however as I do not recognize you, there are some events in my past I have tried to forget and meeting you must have also been forgotten. I am getting really old." "So you say you want to help the poisoned ones. My knowledge is insufficient to heal them and the human suggested taking them to Ardana. Come on in then and have a look at them!" |

"I am sorry if I have hurt you in digging up the past, although sometimes it is better to confront your fears with the knowledge that the past is...well in the past. Anyway I diverge again, I think it is a common thing when you possess so much knowledge with no one to talk to about it, but that's another story." Adohorn looked down to the ground, where the unconcious ones lay. He bent down infront of each simultaneously, Therlion the elf first, whispering words to his ear so only he could hear: "Faer teli an enni" As he finished his ancient elven words of wisdom from long ago, Adohorn stood up and waited, confident something would happen. sig [ 09-28-2004, 06:15 PM: Message edited by: RoSs_bg2_rox ] |
OOC: As I do not really have an introduction point ready for Celedor now here goes a short initial mission for him, which will lead into the main mission lines:
For Celedor: Orcs were foul creatures. Celedor's nose was irritated by their smell. But ever since they had left the stronghold he had been ordered to follow them. His specialties made him the best for the task, so he accepted it. He had been tracking them for days and now he was nearly positively sure that they were heading towards the human town. As far as he knew however the humans were allied with the enemy, so he did not know why three hundred of them were marching at their city. He left his observation post and scratched a few marks on the bark of a tree. Elves would find it soon and get his message. He prepared to return back to his observation post when suddenly he hard a movement behind him. Whirling around he spotted a pair of orc scouts. They had caught him the elf unawares. Swords drawn they headed towards him. OOC: sorry to start off your char with a battle, but I could not find any other way to introduce him in the game at the moment. You are far away enough from the main body of the orcish group so that the sounds of the combat won't be heard by them. |
Therlion opened his eyes. Still groggy and dazed, he could see a new shape moving about, a person. In a confused movement he weakly moved his hand to his daggers to protect himself, the individual being an intruder was his first thought. His vision cleared, and he could see an elf infront of him. He relaxed a bit. "Who.. Who are you?"
|
"Hello friend, fear me not, please put your daggers away, for above all, I mean no harm. I am Adohorn a wandering elf who happend to spring upon this hut through nosyness above all I suppose. My want for more knowledge led me to your aid. Basically I am here to help. Are you alright? Require anything? I have some fairly basic healing knowledge, through and old elven language, I will do what I can.

"So it was you who woke me up. I have never truly mastered the spirit magic." he tried to rise, but faltered, and sat back down. "Too weak. I grow weaker by the hour. I must go straight to the point, Kalam" Therlion pointed at the human lying on the far side of the room. He also leaned and looked at him for a moment, to appraise his condition " has been poisoned, the same as me. We were going to Ardana to be cured. Kalam is instrumental to the battle against Morgoth, he must be kept safe." he sat back and closed his eyes. Losing the battle for conciousness, Therlion said "You must help us in our plight. To def..." he fell to sleep again.
|
Adohorn let Therlion drift back to his state of unconciousness, for now. He had heard of this Ardana and was not sure whether he should help, it was risky, and he was just a passer by he reminded himself. But...he supposed he might aswell do something useful, he was in the mood for and adventure as he hadn't been on a proper one for many centuries. Turning to the dwarf he asked "Where can I find this Ardana, Durling? Somewhere in the mountains I gather? I am quite familiar with them in my times of travel, but never before have I come across her.
I gather the two horses outside are Therlion and Keal's yes? We should make haste... [ 09-29-2004, 10:35 AM: Message edited by: RoSs_bg2_rox ] |
"Sneaky bastards" Celedor thought to himself.
Celedor whiped a dagger at each orc and quickly drew his twin shortswords. Reaching the tip of one blade toward the ground, he drew a line in the dirt. Celedor quickly went into a defensive posture and waited for his enemies to get close enough to him before he struck. As the orcs approach, Celedor goes into a flurry of blinding attacks meant to invoke fear as much as they were meant to kill. [ 09-29-2004, 06:18 PM: Message edited by: Morgan_Corbesant ] |
OOC: Morgan could you disable your sig while playing in this game? It makes posts more visible.
For Celedor: One of the daggers found its target and the orc on the left fell back with the dagger standing out of its throat. The other dagger whipped past its target and stuck in a tree behind him. The orc on the right hesitated for a moment seeing the elf whirling his sword in the air ahead of him. Then his fear overcame his senses. He threw down his weapon and turned starting to run away from Celedor. |
OOC: Until Keal is able to return I shall control his char.
For Adohorn, Therlion and Keal: The dwarf still seemed a bit surprised at being referred to by his original name, but was coming to accept it again. "The last I heard of her she was living in a cave high up in the mountains, refusing all contact with the living. A traveler who went by here several decades ago told me that she was starting to become mad." Durling/Haine then went on to describe the way to go to Keal and Adohorn again and bade them farewell. But before they were able to leave he darted into his cabin and brought out some firewood neatly tied together into a bundle. "You might need this on your journey. The cold can be bad during the night. It is firewood which has been prepared according to dwarven customs and it will burn longer and with a higher intensity." They started the journey deep into the mountains with the two injured on the horses and Keal and Adohorn walking next to them. As they progresse the signs of life became less and less visible and were soon replaced by bare rocks and patches of snow. As night fell the group started looking for a place to camp. Looking around in the reflection of the moon of the snow they could make out a cave about a mile away other than that there was only the possibility to sleep in the open. |
Terias, recognizing the figure in the distance with his elven eyes, ran towards him. When he was near Turin, He quickly asked "What has been going on while i have been captive, my friend?"
|
Adohorn
Adohorn was quite relieved in a sense once they started to treck deep into the forest. The dwarf Durling had really made him contemplate his present life status, he decided he would very much like to talk with the man after they had found Ardana and all this was sorted, maybe he could spend a few centuries with the man in his little hut, just enjoying the simplicity of life, maybe he would find something more fufilling today; only time would tell . He noticed the cave as it passed the horizon line, and he pointed it out to Keal."Maybe we should rest here tonight. We better make sure Therlion and Kalam are kept warm tonight, since they are not really in a good shape yet. We can melt some of that snow over there to drink and rest well. So anyway, I haven't really gotten to know you yet young one have I. So...tell me about yourself." |
Celedor drew his remaining dagger and launched it hard and fast at the fleeing orc. He then rushed the orc to finish it off weather the dagger found its spot or not (watching for signs of an ambush along the way). As he passes the felled orc, he slashes at it with his swords to finish it off. Once the deed is done, Celedor searches the bodies of the orcs to see if he can find anything of use or any clue as to what this group is up too, then hides them in the bushes and covers any tracks, blood, etc. that was left behind before continueing his mission.
>OOC< Sorry about the sig, I forget that alot. [ 09-29-2004, 06:20 PM: Message edited by: Morgan_Corbesant ] |
For Celedor:
The last thrown dagger hit the fleeing orc in his back but it continued to stumble on. The sword slash which hit the first orc was not necessary as he had already died. Celedor ran after the second orc and after catching up with him severed the connection between its head and the rest of its body. Of course the liberal amounts of blood from this action made the cleaning process take quite a while longer. By the time Celedor searched and hid the bodies half an hour had passes. On the bodies no items of interest had been found. Celedor gathers up his daggers (OOC: I suppose) and goes back to his observation point. He sees that the orcs are just preparing to leave but that they have split up into two groups. One which is backtracking which consists of about a dozen of them and the remaining about three hundred continue on in the direction they had been moving in. OOC: choose which group you follow. |
OOC: Thanks for the daggers, heh. I thought of that earlier and realized I had forgotten to put that in here
Celedor thought for a second and figured that the larger group was still heading toward the human village. Without a second thought, he decided to follow the second and smaller group to see where they could be off too, or to see if they meet up with any other groups. Before leaving however, Celedor does a semi-thorough search of the camp, to see if anything of use may have been left behind. He then quickly heads off toward the small group and keeps just close enough, so as not to lose any of them. [ 09-30-2004, 12:13 AM: Message edited by: Morgan_Corbesant ] |
For Celedor:
In the small camp of the orcs Celedor could find remnants of orcish food and other useless stuff orcs leave lying around. He then started following the smaller of the two groups. It only took Celedor about ten minutes to catch up with the fourteen orcs. As Celedor reached the top of a small incline he noticed why they had turned around. In the distance over the plains Celedor could spot a wagon carrying a family of humans. The orcs must have picked up their scent and sent some of their number to take care of them. In the wagon Celedor could spot 6 humans, of whom only 3 were the right age to be able to fight. The group of orcs was now running openly at the wagon. Thankfully Celedor was now downwind of the orcs so they cannot smell him. [ 09-30-2004, 01:26 AM: Message edited by: dplax ] |
For Adohorn, Keal and Therlion:
They slowly moved towards the cave as Keal started to tell Adohorn tidbits of information about himself. But suddenly they were stopped short. The howl of wargs was not common in these mountains but every elf knew that these animals were fierce and bloodthirsty. And they never hunted alone. Sure enough another howl came in reply. Adohorn after all his years spent in nature was able to recognize what the two wargs spoke about. They were annoyed by these elves heading towards their cave. Another howl could be heard by the first warg, this time closer. |
For Therlion:
Through his close eyes Therlion saw blurred shapes moving. Memories. His memories. He saw his fathers joy at having a son. He saw his first training sessions. Then the fast flashing images stopped suddenly and the face of Harmeth hovered in front of him in his dream. Or was it a vision he thought to himself? Her lips moved and elven words came to Therlion. "Eria an enni Therlion! Car ù awartha i calad! Elvellon baur. Eria a car ù awartha an ti amarth! Meleth an enni rinc cam." Therlion's eyes suddenly flew open just as the first warg howled again. OOC: The meaning of the elvish is (the dictionary I used did not have all of these words in elvish so the elvish isn't perfect ): Rise to me Therlion! Do not abandon the light! Your friends need you. Wake and do not leave them to their fate! Let your love for me guide your hands! For those who don't know or remember Harmeth is Lord Easthome's daughter and Kalam's sister and in the first part of this roleplay Therlion fell in love with her. Normally she does not speak elfish, but this is a dream. |
Turin
"Terias!! And is that Kirun I see coming up behind you? How in the world did you find us? What has happened? Where are the others? I...I have so many questions, but sadly enough I am not really able to ask them at this time. If you are able to, I need help tracking down some assasins that are plotting to kill a good man, the new leader of this town. We have just killed the ring leader of Morgoth's human advisors in this town, but not all the trash has been taken care of yet. Come with me and this good soldier here, or go find Roland and see if you can assist in the town's clean-up. The choice is your's." Turin continued onward, running to try and catch up with the assassins that will be planning to kill the young lord Easthome. OOC>>>Is this the right move? I am supposed to be going after the bad guys, right? Sorry to have to run, Fallen One, I think I gotta go save the dude. Coming? |
OOC: as far as you know the group which has been sent with Kalam plots to kill him. You do not know anything of the battle which took place and that Kalam is wounded.
|
Celedor quickens his pace slightly, but doesn't want to sprint. Still keeping downwind and skirting the group in while in the treeline to avoid detection, Celedor waits for the appropriate moment to strike.
