Great Bar, where was this place when I was 21? LOL I 've only been playing for a month or so but I love this game. However, it took me two days to realize there was a lever to get back out of the Shuregeon Castle once inside. Duh. I love all of your monk stories, however I cheated, I planted my entire party at the abondoned Lake house and left the computer on while I went to work. After coming home everyone was still alive (apparently nothing comes inside there) and was Monk-a-fied. see you later.

I was just wondering if anyone else found the "gauntlet run" in the boogre caves. I found a fourth stick there and wondered if that did anthing extra in the stair room? Hope everyone has a great day.

That fourth stick makes the dowel room easier. Not mandatory, just easier.

Also, while you were in the gauntlet, did you pay appropriate homage to the Idol of Bongu? A small cask of brew can have a wondrous benefit :D

Bungleau, I did not pay homage at all, confession scheduled for sunday, [img]tongue.gif[/img] but was wondering what the cask was doing lying on the ground. Would you be kind enough to share what happens if I go back? I've come out (for the second time) and am not sure I can find it again. Hoping you'll share.

If you use the cask of Boogre Brew on the idol of Bongu, you get something. It may be a boost to your fortitude (and IIRC, it can boost you to 25, the only stat that can go there), it may be the GiantStrike trait, or perhaps a couple of other things. Details are buried in the Best Tips thread, I'm sure, and if I've missed something important, Radek or Willow will undoubtedly put me back on track :D

Ta Bungleau, I've tried it but nothing seems to have happened just blue stars etc. Guess I'll have to go back now and try again more thoroughly. Now I'm stuck at Erathsmedor and I've said "elseramavin" and given him the shroud and he still won't open the door. He keeps asking me for the secret word to finish the rite. I keep saying elsara.... and nothing, nothing, nothing.

Either I have done something wrong or my game has gone bugmental. Oh well maybe I'll post a help topic and see if anyone else has had the same problem.

Hey I just became an elite waterdeep guard, that's so funny since I've drowned my characters so many times it's not funny. That must be what it really means, buried at the bottom. hahahahahaha.

Suzy, talking with Erathsmedor is a bit intricated.
1. You must get the "secret word" from D'Soto. Typing "Elseramavin" at Erathsmedor without getting the password from D'Soto does not work. Also, if you already have the password on your answer list (i.e., if you have reset adventures) but you haven't got the password from D'Soto then the password does not work.
2. Therefore, release D'Soto and talk with him. Make sure that you have the signet ring with you (not necessary). Type "Mavin" (he will react at this word even if it will never appear on your answer list) and then follow your answer list. Select "Erathsmedor", then "Elseramavin" and then "Shroud". D'Soto will will tell you something like "... Go now and claim the Mavin! Now, I must rest". When you hear this then the password is okay. If you hear something like "Wait. There is more that must know..." then something is wrong and the password isn't okay.
3. Now, speak with Erathsmedor. He will make "Eh!?". This means that the password works. Let him drivel and give him the shroud when he asks for it.

If you haven't the valid password and if you have already given Erathsmedor the Shroud then, I am afraid, there is only one way of proceeding. The game follows the rule "killing a trigger triggers the action", therefore, if you kill Erathsmedor, the door will open (because Erathsmedor is the trigger that opens the door), you get the Mavin Sword and you can continue the game. Killing Erathsmedor has no concequences later in the game. Prepare for tough fight. You will get 1.8 millions of XP for Erathsmedor.
Another possibility is trying to steal the shroud from Erathsmedor, return to the Shurugeon Castle and speak with D'Soto. Then speak with the dragon again. I haven't tried it.
Another possibility is that the shroud will not be asked again after telling the valid password to Erathsmedor. You can try to make the password valid and tell it to the dragon again. I don't know.
Next possibility is the Vanish spell. Well, you won't have the Mavin Sword (the sword is nothing to write home about) but you will get the Staff of Death later in the game. The Sword and the Staff are the only weapons in the game that can hit (and kill) Cet. If you have one of them then you can still finish the game successfully. There is one little problem: you cannot follow the usual way from the Ishad N'Ha to Brimloch Roon because the way goes through the (now locked) door. But you can Vanish through the "pass" between Ishad N'Ha and Brimloch Roon. Leave the dungeon, go to the pass as close as possible, orient yourself parallel to the ledge leading from the dungeon to the Brimloch Roon area, save the game, and cast Vanish. You should be injected through the pass.

The key to Erathsmedor is that you must click on the word from the list. Once you've said it, it now shows up in your list and you can click on it. Give that a shot... otherwise, it's back to D'Soto :(

but Radek, something weird kept happening to me when in conversation with D'Soto. after i got the password from him and i THINK that he did say he must rest, i proceeded to leave the room but when i reached the door, he kept saying "Wait, Wait, Wait......." until i turn back and walk towards him and he will say "There is more u should know, There is more u should know, There is more you should know....." and this carried on untill i juz got fed up and ran out of the room!

Lionheart, I think that D'Soto will shut up only after your asking about not only "Elseramavin" but also "Shroud". The dialog with D'Soto seems to be completed successfully only if you hear "Go now and claim the Mavin". I am always doing the following:
1. Type "Mavin". It's short and D'Soto knows the word even if the word is never placed on your answer list. Let D'Soto react.
2. Select "Erathsmedor" from your answer list. It's there now. Let D'Soto react.
3. Select "Elseramavin" from your answer list. It's there now. Let D'Soto react.
4. Select "Shroud" from your ansver list. It's there now. Let D'Soto react. You will hear "Go now..." at the end.
5. Leave.
This always works. The password is valid. Erathsmedor will accept it.

Hey there everyone!!! I know it's been a long time since I've been around but things have been a little chaotic lately for me and I haven't had a lot of time online.
