Well, at least I could still be a reasonably skilled mage or cleric/mage. Strength followed by Draw Upon Holy Might will take care of the strength, while Friends will fix the charisma. I could even be a thief...but with that dexterity I'd probably get caught.

Melusine, exactly how concisely would you like Einstein's Theory explained? I don't think I could come up with that many proofs for Pythagoras' Theorem, but I can divine numerical roots and logarithms without a calculator. Oh ok, since I've criticised this test so much I'll post my stats. If we keep in mind what Magick said about 9 being an average adult human score then it's not so bad I guess, it's given me above average scores for everything and I have always been above average in most physical and mental activities... not tryina brag or anything.

Str: 15 (if 9 is average I can agree with this: I am much taller and heavier than average, not fat though and go to the gym several times a week, can lift over 100kg on bench press)
Int: 11 (hmmm I'm not amazingly intelligent but I know I am above average and this shows that, I am studying for a master's degree and it looks like I will get either a 2:1 or a 1st class - maybe this should be a little higher ;) )
Wis: 14 (I do think I have quite a lot of common sense and maturity so I guess I agree with this: not amazingly high but above average)
Dex: 13 (well I'm still young and slim and can juggle and play a variety of racket sports, although I can't do magic tricks well so I guess this is about right)
Con: 13 (I can drink quite a lot and don't get sick much but do have allergies i.e. hay fever so I guess this is about right)
Chr: 11 (this could be a bit higher since I get on with almost everyone, but people don't really ask me for advice or listen to me that much, especially on here :D )

if we think about it like that, this test is not that bad... *shrugs*

What?! 24?! This test is so much bullshit! ;)

Nah, if it was in any way realistic, most people would have straight 9's with the occasional extra point in one or two of them. Apart from the new Messiah, DK.

j/k.

ROTFL!! Yep, an IQ of 200 should result in 25 INT.

You're right BTW, people might (wishfully) think it's realistic because it's FLATTERING, but if 9 is average, stats like 16-14-17-13-18-17 are completely over the top and unrealistic. We would be a bunch of superhumans here on IW, with not a single average Joe or Jane among them. As much as we'd all like that to be the case, it's simply not so. ;)

Well I don't know Jerome. I mean I absolutely agree with Mel that scores of all over 13 or something is completely unrealistic, and that the questions leave a little to be desired validity-wise. Though I think we need to factor in people 'favourable' views of themselves as well, not just the failings of the test when you see inflated scores. But I don't think if it were 'real' that everyone would just have scores around 9. That might be the average but an average means that some people are above and some people are below. It's certainly not unthinkable that some people here would be really intelligent, or really strong, or really charismatic or something. You don't have to be a 'star' to be charismatic, there's not some charisma police that takes away everyone with a score over 15 to Starville so they can't post here anymore. Perhaps there's a lot of budding TV evangelists here who just haven't heeded the call! :D The fact that there isn't very many scores below 9 is a problem, but it's not necessarily completely incorrect that some people might be above-average in some skills.

Jerome 05-18-2003 06:17 PM

Pfft, it's all you mere mortals that are dragging the scores down from the godly heights of my own attributes.

I'm going to start a petition to change the forum name from "General Conversation" to "Olympus" ;)

Would've edited my previous post but the time limit's up ;)

Also wanted to comment on the notion that 9 is average. Is it? Remember in NWN, where if you had an intelligence of less than 9 you couldn't speak properly? Supposing 9 means an IQ of 100 (average), then it's pretty stupid to think that anyone with an IQ of 90 or 95 wouldn't be able to speak properly because they're so stupid. Maybe the average is really 11 or 12. Since the absolute higest score you can get is 25, that's not unbelievable that the average is actually 12. Which would put people's scores in better perspective. And put my strength score even more piddling than before :D

Blessed are dutch friends with internet ;)

STR 14
INT 13
WIS 10
DEX 11
CON 10
CHA 16

I was brutally honest, and my scores don't sound terribly out of whack to me. Still, I do agree that the questions don't really give an accurate idea of real AD&D stats, so it's important not to make too much of it all.

And DK, seriously, if your INT was 18 you'd think you'd have realized that others know you've snuck a porky or two in there

Corny repeats of Douglas Adams's '42' which every kiddy on the Net has used a thousand times over will prove that stat is at least three points lower than it said. People with an 18 in constitution may prove this by ingesting a cocktail of equal measures of rat poison, pig's blood, fresh sheep's milk and pure alcohol and subsequently running for two miles straight. And for the smart ones who scored 18 intelligence, kindly explain Einstein's relativity theory fully, accurately and precisely and come up with 50 new and original ways to prove Pythagoras' theorem in one hour.

ROTFLMAO

Man I was so convinced this test was accurate, you've really burst my bubble girl. ;)
