Hugh, darlin' - just be yourself. Don't 'lose' your accent, it's part of who you are. I LOVE accents - of all varieties. You don't need to change that to 'fit in' or be understood. ;)

I say keep the accent, it's always a breath of fresh air to hear an Australian accent, in this sea of "New Yaulk" Accents.

Thanks mate. So I've heard.

As a singer over the years I actually worked on developing phrasing that incorporated my Australian/English accent into the contempory American phrasing that so dominates English Language music.

Now I'm in America doing some American vocal sessions, I am actually asked to put in some Americanisms at times. Especially if impersonating a US star of course. Cahn't (can't) becomes cian't, fahstah (faster) becomes fiaster for example.

It's an interesting thig, because everwhere in the world outside the US and Canada, to speak perfect English is to sound English. Well spoken persons from India, Australia, New Zealand or England will gravitate towards a common sound.

However perfectly spoken American (say Lawrence Fishburn? -Morpheous from the Matrix) will sound very different by nature of the 'R's alone. We should almost begin calling 'American English', simply 'American'. A seperate dialect.

Snow? Us, snow? You must be mistaken... actually we DID get some snow this year - and immediately prayed for it to melt. Because, for some reason, the snow had gotten packed by the many cars and pedestrians, melted slightly, then froze into ice. After that, we had max temperatures of -5 degrees celsius for a few weeks, so we had solid ice all over the streets. It's finally begun to melt, but just last week, there were places in the city where simply WALKING could be classified as suicide, and riding a bike was out of the question *thinks of a certain ice-covered hill on the way to piano lesson...* :(

Ice on roads is not good!
