But there are some people out there who actually live in game. They will play all day. That is quite a sad existence I think.

When I first left home in early '98, my girlfriend and I got an apartment together in the city. We would play Ultima Online together (actually at two side by side computers) for hours and hours on end, mostly PK'ing. I think our record was two days straight, barring restroom breaks.

Looking back, it was pretty weird ... but I don't at all regret those months.

Yes, now they have 3 modules you can buy. It's still pretty far from a module a month for 10$.

Also, all those are different "games". It's not more element in one. You can't just create a character and play him in basic, the 2 extensions, and then into the pay modules. You also can't play your character into all those fan made modules.

You could of course import him, but it would ruin all those storylines and be very unbalanced.

Over here, NWN plus extensions cost 150$ +15% taxes. For that price, I can buy and register a mmorpg for at least 6 months.

Renting 2 movie a month also add up. Buying a couple candy bars a month also add up. So is buying a beer or two. I spend more money on coka cola every week than I spend on my mmorpgs.

If you consider "money adding up" as a reason not to buy something, you're going to die of hunger...

I'm assuming you're not going to get D&D online either, right?

i agree with luvian.. you just have to budget it and you KNOW that its going to be 10-15 dollars a month so you will know in advance what you are paying for. like luvian said.. movies, rentals, gas and stuff all add up. its all about budgeting if you ask me.

I played a little game called Ultima Online for over 6 yrs. The last year I only logged in to check out if my house was still there. With all the change in content ovet the years the game still became boring. Online games are not as much about game content as thye are about the players themselves. I grew tired of seeing good friends leave the game year after year.
Soon my online time became too difficult to manage. I cancelled my account for the last time in early 03. I haven't looked back yet. I know I will not play a online game again. Time requirements are just too high. Training takes up all your time and that is a rare commodity these days.
I will continue to play single play games as I can hit the save game button and walk away when I need to. It sure beats dying at the last minute when I need to log off, then having to get rezzed and find new equipment at the last minute.
