really, wearboar?! that's news to me. i wonder how long the moratorium lasts... maybe just until you talk to someone, so that word gets around...?

I thought disarming the Tower had something to do with events on the Peak, as well; i don't usually disarm it until i've set a Portal right at the final location--then i disarm the Tower and Portal back to the final show.

I disarm the tower generally when in the area, i.e., the K quarters. I do wait sometimes to get other things done and set a portal there. Not an option with a solo unless you want to travel alot. By the time I get there, a pretty easy battle, but other adventurers try things on their own pace.
Edit: I don't think it affects the landslide or other occurances. Just the ending. My 2 cents. [ 12-16-2003, 10:54 PM: Message edited by: Ziggurat ] |
You know, I thought I had it beat. Easy ending. But just rescuing the 2 guys at the Away Camp is becoming a major pain. Fishhawk is alone and added these 2 lev 14 scums to save the world as a quest. She is lev 24. She brought much armor and many weapons. Not enough. Tried 4 times so far with variations on strategy. (I can detail it if requested).
Got thru the first part OK (prison area), heading towards the King. 7 Templars stand in the way. We are not even in the proving (camp) grounds yet! I guess these are the better Templars cause killed the easy ones no problem. Their spells and attacks are quite lethal. I put Angel prots on all three. Lasts maybe 2 turns at lev 7. We will get through this and can run, maybe. My guess is Fishhawk is so high and these persons skills are so low it makes it harder. |
my usual strategy with the rescue scenario is to get them killed in the first fight. seriously. we will sit back and wait for them to die before doing anything.
two reasons: first, i can stop stressing about keeping them alive. i was finding that we lost fights trying to save them rather than trying to win. second, we dont have to share the xp with those losers. and the best part: once they're dead, yamir will resurrect them for you when you get back to umpani HQ! so it doesnt even cost you a single powder. ;) |
Interesting. I may just try that.

sultan - i don't know what's the trigger (aside from having the two items). Usually, i try to minimize the time with the artifacts. I set a portal in the clearing, grab the items, teleport into the camp, claer it, teleport back to arnika and store the items in a chest.
But lately i played some parties without portal, or with only one portal. I had to walk from the t'rang teleporter to the camp, but i didn't trigger the landslide. Maybe it's triggered when you encounter some of the savant minions with the two items in your backpack? Or just checked every day at midnight? ziggurat - i usually do the fights when i enter the camp. I free the prisoners when there are no rapax left in the area. Then portal to the t'rang teleporter, teleport to arniak road, and use the humpawhammer to reach yamir. |
There are a lot of strategies that are fun. You can even start up in the sentry tower, and use ball spells and somtimes missile attacks on the Rapax as they gather below. You can also start in one of the tents and use it as a funnel.

scatter - taking the tower, brilliant! i'll try that with my magic-heavy hybrid party this time.
