of course it'll be atari. they are the current D&D licenseholders, which would include rights to BG. and they're not one to let any viable franchise just sit around. can't see bioware doing it tho, as they're committed to developing their own IP's now ~ the most current being Dragon Age.

There could be some game with that title, but I predict it will be more sucky like Dark Alliance -- more arcade, not a story-based RPG with NPC's and dialog. You heard it here first??
even bioware devs have said many times over the last 3 years that nothing like BG1 & 2 could ever be made again. publishers just won't allow the time needed to make something that detailed and cost-consuming.

You'd think the publishing companies would be a little lenient after seeing how successful BG1&2 were. Then again, a lot of companies seem to forget that better quality often equals better profit...

ooh, i just remembered something else.

it's pretty much been verified (by scattered black isle devs) that interplay/bis was already hard at work on bg3 before all that hit the fan. bg3: the black hound had the "secret" working title of "jefferson".
it was supposed to be using something likened to a 3D version of the infinity engine, for the PC, using the 3E ruleset (of course) and the story line was NOT a sequel/prequel/whatever-quel of the bhaal spawn idea.

Hmm, interesting. Was all this work transferred to Atari, or did they start from scratch?

well, companies that are given a franchise don't usually pick up where the previous devs left off. reference bethsoft & the fallout franchise. :/

i rekon the story is bullshit...Even if it was comin out the preview would be one of those tiny little columns, that say, on , EA (or some other crap house) has taken over BG rights and are planning to make a Baldurs gate where you build a house and buy clothes and have a relationship with the orc next door...

Think about the September releases- Rome: total war, Sims 2, Half Life 2...Thats just naming the biggest 3! I really do doubt anything of substance will be in it...Plus it wasnt mentioned in last months pc gamer on the next month page..

Having said that, a BG3 based in the time of troubles would be quality, you could say fight Bhaal as the main plot...meeting elminster, gorion, and volo on the way...Oooo you could even fight Firkagg, mebe piss him off...Damn i hope they do make it, using the same isometric engine as BG2

Maybe you can fight Firkagg and loose, leaving that certain sword lodged in his side.

Mmmm....those are some good ideas there....I certainly would like lodging a certain sword in his side. ;)
