Re: Feature request - wall step thru event
Currently we can handle special wall events by having an event placed on the other side of the wall. But what about events that stop the party going through the wall in the first place? For instance in Secret of the Silver Blades, the Temple of Tyr has stained glass walls that give a message when you try to move through them: "when you try to break the glass of the window, something pushes you back."

Re: Feature request - wall step thru event
That will do as a solution for DC.
In the original SSB it was a pure wall event. There were no placed events near some of the stained glass walls. |
Re: Feature request - wall step thru event
Are you sure? I hacked SSB (and all the other) gold box games back in the day. It's been a lot of years, but I think changing the wall had no effect, and it was an event that caused the message. (Amiga version, anyway, but I expect it would be the same for PC.)
Of course, I could be wrong... |
Re: Feature request - wall step thru event
I am sure because I ported the thing to both FRUA and DC.
I just tested the thing by replacing all the stained glass sections with pews, the result was that no messages were displayed. Here is the list of all six wall types found in the Temple of Tyr: 0 - 1 door 2 wall 3 altar 4 pews 5 stained glass |
Re: Feature request - wall step thru event
It's not just a solution for DC, but also for FRUA. In fact, I would wager that it is the solution. :) SotSB wasn't made using FRUA, but things changed.
It's important to remember that DC is an editor and as such it makes more sense to do this type of thing as a placed event - more flexible. :D |
