Three strikes... you're OUT!

Woman arrested 3 times in 3 days for drunk driving
SHEBOYGAN, Wis. – A 60-year-old Washington woman arrested for drunken driving three times in three days while vacationing in Wisconsin has been sentenced to a month in jail. The woman was arrested first at 2 p.m. March 11, 2008. A deputy saw her try to drive out of a ditch, wearing only one shoe and had a blood-alcohol level of 0.21, authorities said. The legal driving limit is .08.

Twenty-four hours later, the woman was arrested after her car got stuck in snow in a park campground that was closed for the winter. The woman told an officer she had had four or six cups of wine.

"I am still finishing up the box of wine in my car from yesterday," authorities reported she told the officer.

Authorities found a box of Black Fox wine in the car.

The woman spent 12 hours in jail. She was released and headed west, but was arrested a short time later after someone reported her driving "all over the road," according to a police report.

An officer found a partial bottle of wine in her car. She had a blood alcohol-level of 0.16.

Court records released Wednesday show the woman was sentenced last week to 30 days in jail and fined more than $3,000.

Geez, just how big was that box? And was she really only wearing just one shoe? Seems she'd be a little cold, 95% naked in a Wisconsin winter...

Man tosses gas bomb in fight, sets own cars ablaze
BITHLO, Fla. – Authorities said a man threw a Molotov cocktail at his neighbor's trailer, but the wind shifted and set fire to two cars, a pickup and a travel trailer in the man's own yard. The Florida Highway Patrol reported that a 51-year-old man got into a fight with his neighbor on Tuesday night and threw the makeshift gasoline bomb.

Authorities believe alcohol was involved.

The man faces multiple charges, including arson. He was being held at the Orange County Jail.

From Wikipedia:

Quote:

The Molotov cocktail, also known as the petrol bomb, gasoline bomb, or Molotov bomb, or simply "Molotov", is a generic name used for a variety of improvised incendiary weapons. Simple to make, they are frequently used by rioters.

The bombs were derisively named after the then Foreign Minister of the Soviet Union, Vyacheslav Molotov, by the Finns during the Winter War.

Pa. clerk's impromptu price guarantee goes awry
GREENSBURG, Pa. – Police in western Pennsylvania say a man snatched $60 from a gas station clerk in an aborted bet about cigarette prices. The man was caught and repaid the money under the watchful eye of a state trooper.

State police in Greensburg say a customer went into a Hempfield Township Sunoco at about 3:20 a.m. on March 9 and complained to a clerk about cigarette prices.

The clerk took $60 from his pocket and bet the customer he couldn't find cigarettes cheaper at another store. The customer grabbed the money and fled.

But Trooper Jeanne Martin said Friday that the clerk got the man's license plate number. A trooper tracked him down and forced him to return to the gas station.

Martin says the clerk didn't want to press charges. He just wanted his $60 back.

As reported yesterday, the case is now closed and the lack of working brainpower at 3:20 AM has been documented.

BTW, I think you're jealous, Variol... ;)

Wash. police chief checks Blackberry, hits car
FEDERAL WAY, Wash. – The police chief of the south Seattle suburb of Federal Way has issued a public apology for a minor traffic accident that happened while he was checking his BlackBerry in his unmarked police car.

The city summed it up Thursday in a news release that began "Federal Way Police Chief Brian Wilson is mortified." Apparently Wilson stopped for a red light on March 18 and glanced down at his BlackBerry to view newspaper headlines and e-mails. He then took his foot off the brake and collided with the car in front of him.

The Seattle Times reports no one was injured and the cars weren't damaged.

Still, City Manager Neal Beets gave Wilson a verbal reprimand.

The police chief says he takes full responsibility.
