Yay!! I finally start work tomorrow (I wasnt able to start when I previously said because a storm knocked out the transformer that powered the mine) only problem is, I have to do an induction so I sit down for AGEs and learn about safety... though it is neccesary and I doubt it will be that bad, well this will be the earliest I have gone to bed in a long while, so good night ;)

Callum 02-27-2005 08:26 AM

Good luck with the job Hive...

Who is else is watching the rugby tonight?

I will tell you who I'm supporting after the match... oh the joys of a mixed heritage. ENglish AND Scottish

Aragorn1 02-27-2005 10:31 AM

Is that the rugby on now? Its England Ireland isn't it?

*Looks at TV,* yeah, it is and the English majority of me is losing!

Why, what's it like over there? Are you in one of those always-warm-I-feel-cold-in-15C-weather climates? ;)

philip 02-27-2005 12:19 PM

Over here it has been snowing A few centimetres high. But my brother started making burn-outs with his scooter and messed it all up :(

Attalus 02-27-2005 01:23 PM

Cool and rainy, here. We are supposed to go for a hike, if Galadria, who's rain averse, doesn't change her mind.

Sir Goulum 02-27-2005 02:28 PM

Ugh, I hate walking in the rain as well. Unless it's raining so light that you don't even know it's raining.

Cloudbringer 02-27-2005 03:56 PM

I don't mind walking in the rain if it's warm out and not a downpour. But if it's cold, not my fav thing to do! We're expecting snow all week though , so no worries about cold rainy days, unless it warms up a bit!

How's the gf, Ross? She still mad at you? LOL Here, all the chocolate chip muffins you can stand! :D

Attalus 02-27-2005 07:52 PM

Ah, had to scratch the walk. Had a bit of an accident and hurt myself, not badly. Galadria posted an account on the Oasis.

Kakero 02-27-2005 10:02 PM

Darn, I'm correct. I am sick. When I wake up this morning my stomach is in pain and I feel very weak. Maybe it's because of this strange weather. Too bad I have to go to work today.Got some important things to do. uhhh..

Ladyzekke 02-27-2005 10:26 PM

Hope you can get those work tasks done Kakero and get back home, and to bed! Rest is very important in healing from a cold/flu.

Looks like we are getting some snowstorm overnight and all day tomorrow, so I'll probably not go into work. My boss had already mentioned this potential storm on Friday, but I was skeptical because the weatherpeople usually suck and are wrong, so I figured I'd wait and see what was what tonight. And it seems we will get a snowstorm tomorrow, so blah, one point for the weatherpeople, grudgingly LOL. :D

T-D-C 02-27-2005 11:57 PM

Hey all,

I'm back from Sunny QLD all tanned and relaxed. The relaxation was spoiled the moment I stepped back to work (today)

Man I got so my crap to deal with (that people couldn't deal with whilst I was away)

I want another holiday!

Ilander 02-28-2005 01:22 AM

...I want one too, T-D-C!

But that's okay, I can live with being here. After all, UK is awesome. Okay, my friends here are awesome, and I am enjoying the PHY department more and more.

I bought flowers for a gal, today, and she enjoyed them. It brings a smile to my face to know that I can make someone happy.

Hivetyrant 02-28-2005 05:01 AM

Ergh...... Today I got to the Induction room at 6:30 in the morning, then we had a drug and alcohol test, then the guys mad fun of me for Warren (my dad) for being my dad :DWell they wernt being rude, my dad is farily high up and well known, so they make some funny jokes, so I was happy, I went down to the training center, got my photo taken (worst photo ever, and I mean REALLY bad), but I didnt know that yet, because I smiled when Tina (woman taking the pictures) said so, so I went into the training room with about 30 other guys and 1 girl and we were told about what would happen that day, I wont tell you about all the presentations because well, the went untill 5:00. So apart from lunch and a few breaks I was sitting in the most uncomfortable chair all day.
Lucky I got paid to do it :D

Xen 02-28-2005 05:23 AM

Morning all. I have no school this week since we have vacation here.
Did anyone see Constantine? Is it good?

Cloudbringer 02-28-2005 09:32 AM

HiveTyrant, sounds like you needed a pillow for your day at the office! Maybe now the intro is over it will improve. :D

Back to work for me and I'm catching up a little on things. We're expecting snow overnight and they aren't too clear on how much so I'm hoping to be all caught up here at the office today just in case it is alot.

We watched Spiderman2 on dvd the other night, not a bad movie, but I gotta ask, why would the nanobots in the octo arms necessarily be evil? Weird stuff.

Ilander 02-28-2005 09:35 AM

Xen, we were going to see it last night, but we missed the showing...when I see it, I'll be sure to say something about it.

Ivelliis 02-28-2005 10:21 AM

I was walking to school today, and I did the funniest thing. Well, it would be funny if it never happened to me :D

My mate said something very stupid, so I said "let's stare at her until she realises how stupid that sounded", and I walked into a lamp post :| I have a cut around my temple, and it started to swell. So being honest ;) I went to my head of year and said "oh I feel dizzy and sick and have a headache". So I came home early :D Maybe get to stay off tomorrow too!
Has anyone else done anything as stupid as me recently?

Bungleau 02-28-2005 11:21 AM

I think you win the award, Ivellis :D Something tragically ironic about that... "let's show her how stupid that was... *thwack*" :D

And Attalus, it's generally not recommended to use your head to break a tree's fall. Hope you're feeling okay with no after-effects.

Well, we're getting the snow that all you easterners are anticipating. So far, it hasn't been all that much (just a few inches, not the massive amounts they warned of). 'Course, I haven't been upstairs for a while to make sure, but last I saw, it wasn't that bad. Time will tell... :D

Cloudbringer 02-28-2005 11:30 AM

Keep the snow, Bungleau! :D Keep it all, I don't mind!

Attalus, hope your head feels better and you stay away from those killer trees! LOL

Ivelliis 02-28-2005 12:22 PM

Bungleau, I agree, but I do get a day or so off school, which is a definate plus.

Ilander 02-28-2005 12:32 PM

Ivellis, I think that you should visit the "Who's Clumsy?" thread and admit that it's you.

LOL Tim. So where in Queensland did you go, surfers or higher up? It would have been a good break after all the house moving and stress that involves. I hope you had plenty of XXXX

Ilander 02-28-2005 04:59 PM

I wonder what XXXX is...

Hey, I think I'm going to become a mentor for Appalachian and minority students at University of Kentucky...how cool is that?

Xen 02-28-2005 05:01 PM

Good evning all. I spent over an hour cleaning my disks in my computer. I deleted things that I don't need, ran Diskeeper to defrag it. Now I feel a lot better.

How much space did you clean up, Xen? I did that a couple of weeks ago and gained about 15 GB.

No matter how good you feel, though, I bet your computer feels even better :D .

About 4 GB. Diskeeper said that I have 9 % of free space on my disk, after the whole cleaning process it say 53 %. ;)

Tasted like crap :D (no offense to any XXXX drinkers that may vist the board)

We went to surfers (stayed about 4 blocks down from Cavil Ave) Went to the beach, Dreamworld, Seaworld, went for a Helicopter ride, went to Ripleys believe it or not.

We flew Jetstar in the Airbus's that they have and the flight was great. The seats were roomy and I had plenty of leg room.

Had a blast!

RoSs_bg2_rox 02-28-2005 06:04 PM

Ivelliis, I can't believe you did that. That would have been great to watch :D

Well things are getting better for me too. Made up with the gf, went out for a meal on Saturday night, stayed in all Sunday with her, and everythings A OK (to quote the Darkness) now.

It's the start of another hectic week but somehow I still find the time to chill out to a few hours of Warcraft 3. I find it amazing that I've been playing that game for 4 years, and still find it the best game around. I have all the other top titles, but it still lures me in.

Still, R:TW has just been installed, so I'm not sure how much longer I will be playing WC3.

*goes back to corner*

Later all.

Sigmar 03-01-2005 03:30 AM

I got an offer from Manchester to go to their medical school...

I'm so happy words fail me...

It was my first choice and they accepted me even with my lousy AS grades.

I'M SO HAPPY!!!

Yep, my mistake.

The Irish 16th of me is not enough to overcome the crushing despair the English 11/16ths of me feels over the terrible performance!

Congratulations over Manchester Sigmar!

I'm hoping to be accpeted there myself this time next year!

Xen 03-01-2005 05:22 AM

From Gibraltar to Manchester

Let me tell you a few things about living there Sigmar .... RAIN RAIN RAIN

Buy a good umbrella, raincoat and wave goodbye to blue skies for a few years. Did you know that Manchester is one of the rainiest places in the world? (if not THE) That three consecutive days of no rain is called a heatwave / drought? Can you even speak mancunian?

Congratulation Sigmar you will be going to one of the greatest party towns in the world :D Seriously the night life is amazing

From the tropics of Malay to the dampness of Manchester ..... save youreself Callum while there is time (see above post)

What would you be studying Callum if you went?

Callum 03-01-2005 05:51 AM

Computer science. Or possibly Computer science and engineering.

Meh... the wet season here can outrain any Mancunian weather. I've seen the tiny drizzles that English people call "pouring".

True my tropical brother! :D But the rain in Manchester has a bitter cold constant dampness to it that affects the very marrow of your bones, day after day after day

Still on the bright side Manchester is one hell of a social explosion. All the clubs and bars are easy to get to, plus there is great public transport and cheap accommodation. Music and arts are a big plus and even I go to visit every couple of years ;) You and Sigmar will both love it :D

</font>
Very much appriciated Wellard, thanks Callum.

It was snowing a bit when I went over for my interview (first time I'd seen it actually snow in my life :D ) but you're right, the rest of the time it was raining and freezing!

But i really loved the city. Although admittedly nothing like Gib! Party town huh?...I like :D

Mancunian...I heard people say "You're alright love" a lot :D

Kaltia 03-01-2005 03:54 PM

Wow, Sigmar, that's great! :D *Tackle-hug*

You'll get on fine there. From what I hear, Manchester University is a really good Uni .

Sigmar 03-01-2005 05:19 PM

Cheers Kaltia

Glad to hear it! Any uni's better than no uni anyhow !

I'm just outright happy and grateful for this oppertunity.
