the gnome poses no danger to us, we know his simple illusions can't harm us, there is no point in slaying him once he has performed his duty to ensure that we arrive at our destination, there is a cosmic force that will exact veangeance on you if you randomly kill everything you see, or that tries to defend itself against a group of armed mercenaries invading his home. A priest could go on for days about it, but I'm no priest, and I take no pleasure in murder, life in the Great Wheel is too great to sully by damning yourself for a few moments of despicable torture against innocents.

ARUELLA "Lady Aruella."

MODRON "State purpose of inquiry, Lady Aruella."

MODRON "We are seeking a small, dark human named Slatkin that should have passed this way a few days ago."

MODRON "State pupose of pursuit, Lady Aruella."

ARUELLA "He stole something of great value from me, and we are seeking to retrieve it."

MODRON (It buzzes and whirs) "Based on your retinal blood flow:cerebrospinal fluid pressure ratio, you are telling the truth with a probability of 96%, give or take 2%. Thievery is chaotic, therefore punishable. All units will be instructed to look for such a human. Information request approved." (More buzzes and whirs, followed by a whistle) "Human seen but not apprehended. Last sighting, quadrant 26402. If desired, you may take the nearer Rolling Road. It will automatically place you at the indicated sector."

Skye glanced at the modron with a fascinated look, then said "Well, sounds good to me. Unless the gnome knows something else..?" she turned around and faced the leashed gnome.

(The group gets on the conveyer belt and travels to the indicated sector. Thet are ejected into an area with numerous modrons and droids bustling about some huge construction. You are not immediately able to determine the nature of the construction. A modron stands in front of you, at which various modrons come up , insert probes, buzz, and then go off purposefully.)

OOC- yea, but didn't aruella bring him back to life..? if that's not the case, pretend like I didn't say anything to him, since it'd be kinda strange to make my character have a conversation with a dead gnome. ^^; oh, and just call me Skye. I find that it's easier for others to spell. ;)
IC- Skye pointed at the said modron. "I would guess that it's the one in charge here. Perhaps it could find out where you thief was last seen..?

Skye shrugged, and strode up to the overseer modron. "Pardon me," she asked politely. "But we were told that a thief of a belonging of Lady Aruella," she gestured in her direction, "was seen last in this area. You would not perhaps know any information that would be of help to us to track him down?"

Subject man was seen disappearing into a structure forbidden for occupancy and scheduled to be demolished on Day 30, Plane Revolution 6,875,456. It is to be found just over the horizon to the East. Warning, danger to any that enter, except Demolition Modrons, Modes 17A, 62, and 88, revision b."

JETT (He leads the group to the East, where he spots the building that the Modron Overseer apparently was in reference to. It is a large, ramshackle building, several stories high, with an easily defined entrance, the door of which is swinging loosely. Entering cautiously, he feels his foot, cautiously extended, touch a board which gives slightly. Probing with his greensteel dagger, he finds a hidden spring, which he releases with a satisfying "thwang." He flushes with happiness at the the achievement, thinking with gratitude of Imoen, who taught him that trick, back when she was his girlfriend.) :D

Good Job Jett letting his eyes adjust to the gloomy interior Kaz'erthimon looks around and then pulls a copper common from a small pouch on his belt, muttering a quick incantation the coin begins to glow softly, not unlike a torch, the glow illuminated the dilapidated building making it a simple matter for everyone to see inside.

You see a corridor streching for about one hundred yards. There are two doors on the left, three on the right. The end of the corridor is difficult to see, even with the light.

Beorn

moves slowly down the corridor and stops in front of the first door. He appears to be listening carefully for a few seconds, then proceeds towards the next door.

As soon as he reaches it, he freezes. Gesturing to the rest of the party, he beckons them forward, while signaling to them to be quiet.

JETT (He freezes, concentrating on trying to find any more traps.)

Skye stopped, and her cloak brushed against a wall, triggering a trap. The stone slid away, and a steel cable latched itself around her throat. Since it had been behind her, Skye hadn't noticed the trap, and she tried not to make a sound as she struggled to breathe. 'Even if I die, I won't ruin their element of surprise,' she thought to herself. 'That's what adventuring is all about.. you never know when or how you're going to die.' She nodded to herself solemnly, then made a face, struggling to pull the cable away from her throat with her hands. 'But why does it have to be such a pathetic way to die?!' One of her boots scuffled against the floor, as she struggled in vain to breathe.
OOC- sorry, just trying to liven things up i suppose..

Seeing Skye struggling Kaz'erthimon slowly began stepping towards the woman, drawing his blade he brought it down quickly against the cable, with a blow that would sever it without harming Skye.

The blade struck with a shower of sparks and electricity arced from the clable to the blade throwing it out of the Githzerai's hands as well as knocking him backwards to land in a heap on the glowing coin, and darkness veiled all once again as the light was covered.

OOC: to liven it up some more :D

Skye grinned at Beorn in return, then calmly replied to Aruella "Ah, but he was in front of me. I was, er, just making sure he detected correctly." Rubbing her neck a bit ruefully she added, "Hopefully I won't always end up setting them off as the bait, although I probably fulfill that role very well, in some of your eyes." She pointedly smirked in Beorn's direction.

two guards come out of the door Jett opened with their weapons drawn - alerted by all the noise.

And the next door along the corridor also opens

JETT He attacks the first guard, hitting him in the abdomen with his greensteel dagger, The guard, a red abashai, strikes at him with a huge club, but he scampers nimbly away. He hears Aruella telling Khaz 'Djir that he may attack the guards.)

Still slightly dazed from the guards Kaz'erthimon ducks a wicked overhand chop and returns it with a sideways slash that chops the guard in half at the waist.

Looking at the bleeding figure in the hall in front of him the Githzerai kicks him in the face, "ugh, you bled on my boots" and then he proceeds to hack the lower regions of the guard into many small bloody chunks while the upper half watches bleeding to death helplessly.

Tearing a small swath of cloth off of the guards tunic Kaz'erthimon wipes his boot off and watches the battle, noticing how strangely no other guards come near him or his sword.

Skye made a perturbed face at the guard Kaz'erthimon had killed. "Now I know why I don't like to kill," she said, slightly disgusted. "Not exactly what I would call elegant. Or necessary, most of the time." She went silent, as she waited for Jett to check for traps.

JETT (He checks the entire room for traps.)

ARUELLA (There are no traps.) "Well, let us take a look at this scroll. Hmm, it appears to be some spell, for working a portal. I'll just keep it, unless our good Gith would want it. Hmm, I wonder what's behind this door." (She opens it, and there is an aqua portal there.) "How provoking, it seems to be inactive."

ARUELLA (Shakes her head) "No, I have tried. Perhaps we should examine these other rooms. Jett has checked all of the doors, and none of them are trapped."

Skye approaches the door closest to her, and swung it open, jumping back on her guard.
