To be perfectly honest, I am rather inexperienced with ftp (I got the other files by following the link on the first post on this thread, then double clicking on each of the icons). I tried opening up RealDownload and putting in the info you gave me, and it won't let me start a download (keeps waiting for a correct address to be entered). I know I am sounding completely computer illiterate (and in some areas I am, such as this one).

Is the teambg site back up yet?

Grammar 06-14-2003 01:30 AM

irc.teambg.net is not ftp - it is IRC
Just connect with mIRC and use my tutorial or someone else's

If all else fails, just make a backup and try it with the mod. If it screws up, it's not compatible

Well, we should be pretty safe since most of the mod happen in the bg1 part of the game.

Yes... I suppose that's true Luvian
Don't install Ascension though, or you'll probably screw it up (Given that Ascension is included with the thing, or so the readme says [I haven't gotten to test it yet])

andrewas 06-15-2003 10:17 AM

Sod it.

More than a week downloading, and the files are corrupted for some reason. No file has ever been corrupted by getright! before, so I dunno what the hell is going on.

I give up.

Korvanik 06-15-2003 11:00 AM

If i have understood it right you have to pay for mIRC and i dont want to do that so is there no other way to get the bgt distro.c03, patch 1.1 and patch 1.2 files.

andrewas 06-15-2003 11:14 AM

mIRC is shareware, with a 30-day trial period after whch you have to register.

But you should be able to connect with any IRC client, mIRC is simply the most common. I dont know if all of the others support DCC file sharing though.

Korvanik 06-15-2003 12:46 PM

I cant get the download to work when i try to doawnload from Chris in mIRC and i dont know whats wrong and Bardez slots are always busy, so could someone help me by telling me what i am doing wrong.

andrewas 06-15-2003 12:56 PM

what error do you get?

Go into the main mIRC server window (not the channel window, the first one that opened) and youll probably see a message about the download being rejected. If so, go into the DCC menu and turn off auto-ignore.

Korvanik 06-15-2003 01:47 PM

First i says sending file but nothing happens then after some time it says Closing Idle connection in 30 seconds after that says in Red DCC session closed.

andrewas 06-15-2003 02:00 PM

mIRC is set to auto-reject file transfers by default. go into the DCC menu, option, DCC section, and make sure its not set to ignore all. Set it to "show get dialogue" instead.

Then go into the folders subsection and make sure DCC ignore is off, and that "turn ignore back on" is unchecked.

untouchable 06-15-2003 03:01 PM

I tried using the ftp adress that bardez suplies in new ftp.txt but got an error. Has anyone else tried the new ftp and gotten an error? better question: has anyone succeded with the new ftp that bardez supplied? Does anyone know if bgt distro.c03 is on the new ftp or am I still gonna wait forever on mIRC?
Thanks

andrewas 06-15-2003 03:22 PM

The word "FUBAR" would seem to apply to that FTP. Moan to kangaxx about it, he seems to pay attention to the IRC a fair amount of the time.

RoSs_bg2_rox 06-16-2003 04:44 PM

so r u not downloadin anymore andrewas? plz do it, just go to uni and do it or sumthin. PLZ man

andrewas 06-16-2003 04:53 PM

dont have access to uni computers anymore, besides the 8MB quota isnt much use. (And thats on the CompSci computers, general use is worse). Dont have access to office computers. Dont have any broadband connection.

And Ive downloaded that file *three* times now, and its been corrupt each time, which is bloody weird. I would suspect kangaaxx put up a corrupt version, but no-on else is complaining and I get different errors each time.

Maybe Ill give it another go, but right now Ive download 1.5 Gb of useless data and Im sick of it.

RoSs_bg2_rox 06-16-2003 05:13 PM

Y dont u try it off mIRC or the official website instead of FTP? is it only bgdistro.03 (or whatever u call it) that u need?

Zuvio 06-17-2003 03:08 PM

Do I need to install BG for this to work? I've done exactly as the readme said, but when I use the Baldurs Gate button in SoA, it starts the tutorial and then SoA instead of BGI. How does it work?

[EDIT] Ok, I got it to work. There was an override folder in my override folder, which had all the important files in it. So I copied the contents of the override folder in the override folder to the top override folder and now it works.

Raistlin Majere 06-18-2003 07:04 AM

why am i getting an error like this: "Run time error '9' Subscript out of range" whilst trying to run bgt installer. im doing it in this order: 1) installa.bat 2)bgt installer and then i would run installb.bat but i get that error. thats the order the readme had written in it...

andrewas 06-18-2003 12:26 PM

Bug reports should go on the BGT forum:

http://www.teambg.net/forum/?board=94

I think there were instructions somewhere on how to install the mod manualy, or maybe bardez will be able to fix it.

Grammar 06-18-2003 12:27 PM

Did you winRAR distro.ace into the main BG2 folder??

you mean unload all that junk in there?! no, i did not. was i supposed to? darn...i just copied all the distro thingies into the bg2 folder, but i didnt extract nothing but the installer patches...

Grammar 06-18-2003 08:29 PM

Only rar the distro.ace, I believe

McHaggis 06-19-2003 01:26 AM

Yes, you have to extract the rar-file (and the same time the other archives are extracted). I have all the files but haven't tried to install yet, because I don't want screw up my BG right now and since you can't have two BGs installed same time (well, you could, but with extreme difficult way) it'll just have to wait.

Oh, and patches 1.3 and 1.4 have also been made. If you haven't noticed.

Raistlin Majere 06-19-2003 05:02 AM

1.4 aswell? sheesh, they keep popping up like daisies! just a few days ago i downloaded the new patch 1.3(or was it old already?).

Korvanik 06-19-2003 03:59 PM

I have finally downloaded

distro.c00
distro.c01
distro.c02
distro.c03

bgt installer patch 2.1 zip
patch 1.1
patch 1.2
patch 1.3
patch 1.4

so is there any more files that needs to be downloaded or am i finally done and ready to install this mod.

andrewas 06-19-2003 04:01 PM

Aside from the distro.ace file, thats all of them.

slimjimosu 06-19-2003 06:32 PM

patch 1.4 came out so quickly because there was an error in patch 1.3 that caused all non-magical weapons to break on every hit. It has been fixed in 1.4 so just install patches in order (i know, duh right?) and everything should work fine. Got mine up and running last night.

Korvanik 06-20-2003 04:01 PM

I need some help because when i run the BGT Installer.exe file it just says at the top prjForm Extract and under that headline it says Run-time error '9': and under that it says subscript out of range. Does anyone know what is wrong.
The mod works fine when i create my character but when i am done and start the new game it just stops and when i Ctrl Alt Delete it says program not responding is that because of BGT Installer.exe file or does someone know whats causeing that problem .

Grammar 06-21-2003 12:47 PM

Did you unzip distro.ace into the bg2 directory?

Korvanik 06-21-2003 02:28 PM

I used winrar on the distro.ace.

Korvanik 06-22-2003 11:47 AM

Now i have been able to start a game but i start in the Ducal palace and when i enter the world map after the duke tells me to, a window pop up that says An assertion failed in ChDimm.cpp at line number 1246 Programmer says: ChDimm.cpp CDdim::Demand: CRes pointer invalid (Check baldur.log for missing Resource). And some windows are not shown in the right way. Could someone tell me whats wrong. I have had all the files iŽneed for a week now and i have still not got it to work so someone please help me so i can start to play bg and bg 2 whit this mod.

Grammar 06-22-2003 11:58 AM

I'm afraid that if the BGT Installer.exe did not run correctly, then the mod will not run correctly. I can only recommend that you try the teambg.com forum (if it's up) or look earlier in this thread for help.
Try doing it again from a fresh install. (The reason I asked about distro.ace is that when I put it in the bg2 folder unzipped it eliminated my problems)

Korvanik 06-22-2003 12:38 PM

Thank you Grammar for your help.

Grojlach 07-05-2003 06:20 PM

Finally managed to download all of the installation files, and after a few hours (!) of messing around I also managed to get it installed... The installation procedures are a bit unclear and chaotic at times and especially the BGT Installer (which was supposed to rebuild the chitin.key) certainly took its time; while the task manager already gave signals that it "didn't respond anymore", somehow after an hour or so chitin.new miraculously appeared either way. Oh, and my BGII-directory is now 8.5 GB-ish (!); a lot more than I'd expected as well. Thankfully I had enough free diskspace, but perhaps they could have added such a tidbit to the readme-file. http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...ons/icon37.gif
I'm glad it all worked out in the end, though. Been waiting for this quite some time already.
I've started a new game with a monk protagonist and I'm currently residing in Beregost; I've encountered no bugs so far, or it has to be the fact that my protagonist character is a lot faster than the other npc's; and not just because he's a monk. It's as if the newly made character is as fast as was common in BG2, while the original npc's are still as slow as they have always been in BG1. Oh, and there's no music in the game either, but I've got sufficient resources of my own to provide worthy substitutes for the lack of game music. ;)
Only other thing I noticed is that the experience gained for memorizing scrolls and opening locks is comparable to that in BG2 - so at the moment, opening a simple lock on a chest gains you twice as much XP as most of the subquests so far. Interesting. ;)

andrewas 07-05-2003 06:59 PM

Bardez, for reasons known only to himself, made it so the music isnt installed by any of the .bat files.

You have to copy the music from trilogy-src into your main folder by hand.

Once you've done that you can delete the archive and the trilogy-src folder, which saves a couple of gigs of space. (When I say delete the archive, I mean burn it to CD then delete it).

I havent noticed any speed issues myself, the orignal NPCs seem to be moving at BG2 speed. BG2 handles level 1 characters quite badly though, and bardez has applied more than one dirty hack to get around it. Might be the speed was increased twice or something.

You might be able to use shadowkeeper to correct it. A starting SoA monk and a starting BGT monk both have speed of 2.

The XP for locks & scrolls is a known problem , but balancing it for BG1 would unbalance it for BG2. Its not a massive problem unless you abuse it or have a mage heavy party.

Lord 07-06-2003 02:16 AM

I don't really get what this is. Does this mean that BG1 and BG2 are played as 1 game/1 map, etc? So your characters go directly from BG1 to BG2? This thread has really confused me.
Edit: Does it change the game (any quests or anything) in any way?

Well, theoretically, you'll be playing BG1 with the BG2-engine. So npc-speed will be increased (one of the more annoying aspects of the original BG1-game), and you'll be able to play all of the special BG2-kits and the Barbarian, Sorcerer and Monk classes from level 1 on. You'll get experience for memorizing scrolls and lockpicking, and some BG2-only standard weapons - like Katana's - will be available in BG1 as well. It's more of an engine update than really a new game (though I'm still curious how the part between Tales of the Sword Coast and BG2 is dealt with ;) ).

i solved this problem by saving all the scrolls i was gonna scribe, then when i have about 5-10 scrolls i wish to scribe, i use shadow keeper to add the spells and then delete them from the inventory. this way i dont get anymore exp than in the regular bg1. well, actually i do get a tad bit more because of locks, but i try to bash as many as possible...

I've copied the music from trilogy.src now to the main music folder... But you're absolutely positively sure that the trilogy-src folder with all of the Area-info is not necessary to run the game?
(and I still have the .ace-files as well; easier to save and burn, in my opinion).
