That really really sucks.

There was a great cartoon in the paper today. Steve standing by the pearly gates, St Peter trussed up on the ground helpless at his feet, and the caption read "Criiiikey - he wasn't going to let me in there for a second - but you just have to know how to control em".

OK - a little bit irreverant, but that was Steve to a tee. There was a sombre RIP Steve in the background.

I will never forget getting pulled over by a New "Joisey" copper and him looking at an Australian drivers licence asking me in all seriousness "Hey - do you ever wrassle any crocidiles?". America coudn't get enough of him at that time. I so wanted to answer with a "Joisey" accent, "You look'n at me, you look'n at ME?"

I cringed at a lot of his antics - he really overplayed the ole ocker image, but he did a lot of work for the environment, and this sadly leaves a family without a dad.

There is no doubt that he was a bit looney, but there is also no doubt that he did alot for our environment and our image :(

I have heard that Discovery Channel and Animal Planet are setting up the Crikey Foundation to continue his conservation work.
