As an atheist, I just read this and think "ah... freedom..."

But yeah, I have friends from quite a few religions... I go to an international school... but no one is really religious... apart from just TWO vegetarians in my class... everyone else doesn't give a hoot

Even though you don't, you are accepting her belief of this God, meaning you are accpeting it, and the commandment says something like : though shall not accept other gods.

I'm just askin, as I don't know. I aint that religious

The God and the prophets that the Christians beleive in, are the same God and prophets that the Muslims beleive in. The only difference is the Muslims call God "Allah". Muslims beleive in Jesus and Moses and all of the other prophets...FOOL!!! hehe, im just messin too ;)

Guess what I did tonight?

tonight I was at a very wonderful dinner with a stunningly beautiful, intelligent, creative, passionate and spiritual ISLAMIC WOMAN from Morrocco. Yep. Hardcore Christian me, had an amazingly wonderful time with a hardcore Morroccan Muslim.

It was awesome, and yes we spoke about religion in much depth, without anger, hate, fear or disharmony. It was a beautiful, respectful, thought provoking exchange, and we both kept our minds and ears open.

Praise God.

please define terms:

hardcore?
If she was hardcore muslim, what was she doing...
a) eating in public
b) speaking with a man not her husband or father or designated male relative?
c) etc., etc.,

BUT, the most important info you left out... is she SINGLE?..get her ph#?

enquiring minds want to know... ;)
I think J.J. Hit it on the head here...she cannot be too "hard core" if she did any of the above. Not to mention she was associating with an infidel simply by having dinner with you Yorick.

AFAIK there is nothing in the Quran that forbids these things, many Islamic states take it to extremes. It would be the equivalent of a Christian state (if there was one) ordering the burning of all furniture touched by a woman having her period (Leviticus, don't know the exact chapter and verse). ;)

EDIT to add: I'm an atheist and am proud to count as good friends people from many religions including Christian, Islamic, Hindu, Wiccan - they all get along just fine. It's not religion itself that causes conflict, but religion is used as an excuse for political conflict and to gain support from populations for the leader's actions. Holy crusade and holy jihad are one and the same
Epona, I think you are getting Christians mixed up with Jews...Old testement vs new testement in the bible....Leviticus is definately old

There are strict rules concerning the actions of women in the muslim faith, and were she what Yorick said "Hard Core" then she would have been violating all those rules ...if she is just regular core muslim who modifies their beliefs to suit their desired life style then they are not hard core, nor are they all that faithful. Just my opinion of course. :D
