Thanks Willow, I think I'd heard about that 'cure' being in the works, but I'd be curious to see more about it! I do have meds for the allergies, but I think what happens is my system gets worn down by allergies and fighting them off, then if I'm stressed or don't take care, WHAM! A cold bug grabs me. I drink about a half a bottle of NyQiul and go to bed. I will do it agian the next night. That works real well for me. I sleep much better to.
Hope you feel better quick like, Cloudbringer, Maybe you should change your name here to "Sunbringer", aye? |
Hey Cloudy... sorry to hear that you are "under the weather" but with your name and all....
Seriously, though - there is a lozenge called "Cold Eeze" ( http://www.coldeeze.com/ ). Really great when you are getting the onset of symtoms. Clears you up really quickly. All the other homeopathic remedies are great, too. The honey and ginger, chicken soup and liquids. I go for the Thera-flu, wonderful for me to subdue symptoms to a managable level. Up to you what works! Other than that, I will look for that link on the cure. :D Feel better soon! [ 11-19-2002, 05:39 PM: Message edited by: Charean ] |
Found some links:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/526904.stm http://www.coldcure.com/ And something for the "get the Maalox" dept. : A Cold Cure My father, Crisosto Pena, a Mexican Apache, believed that chile could cure anything. He said that it was packed full of vitamins and therefore a cure-all, especially for colds. One day he returned from work and found his wife and five children in bed with the flu. He felt so bad for them that he took out the bag of hot chile pods and soaked them in hot water for 15 minutes. Then he put them into a grinder and ground them with the water they were soaked in. He gave each one of his family members a spoonful with a piece of tortilla. About an hour later the family was moving about. The children were out playing around, and his wife was cooking dinner. From that day on, I too believe that chile is a cure-all, especially for colds. As a preventive medicine, you can mix the chile with garlic and onions. It not only tastes good, but also keeps colds away. Told by I.M. Crisosto Pena, daughter of Crisosto Pena, and the great great granddaughter of Geronimo. http://www2.wgbh.org/MBCWEIS/LTC/ElC...acoldcure.html |
Miss Cloudbringer Ma'am,
I have a surefire cure, gather as many ice cubes as you can get, place ice cubes (2 at a time) in a glass, surround ice cubes with "Crown" drink until there are no more ice cubes, or you don't care if there are any more ice cubes which ever comes first. :D I drink water massive amounts of water and juice, get plenty of rest. |
Here's one you might not have heard yet. Use one ounce fresh chopped horseradish root, one pint boiling water and honey. Or, brew some elder flowers as a tea with honey to sweeten it.
Hope cold season ends for you soon. |
