I don't eat breakfast myself anymore. I just don't feel hungry in the morning. Every once in awhile I do and just hit McDonalds and grab a bagel sandwich or a hash brown and eat it at work. But usually no breakfast, and I eat lunch as late as possible, usually around 2:00pm (just this thing I have, the later I can prolong lunch at work, the less time I have left after lunch before my day at work is over LOL). So sometimes I much on Fritos or crackers or something around 11:00 to tide me over if I get hungry.
Sucks you have to eat in your car Saz. Maybe you could try having a bagel or English muffin (although that could get messy depending on what you put on it), or a McDonalds or other fast food hashbrown (small and you can keep it in the paper wrapping while eating it so no greasy fingers), or maybe a Pop Tart or a Toaster Strudel (sp?) :D [ 10-09-2002, 05:12 PM: Message edited by: ladyzekke ] |

Breakfast is *essential*. After a full night's sleep, your body has no sugar in it's bloodstream to get working with. If you eat berakfast, the sugar gets into your bloodstream, you have energy, you go to work everything is fine. Your body releases Insulin to force some of the sugar into your muscles to prepare them for action, and very little of it as fat. Things are looking good.
If you don't eat breakfast, then bad things happen. Your body releases cortisol, a stress chemical, into your bloodstream, and it provides you with an energy boost by starting to break down fat for energy. is this good? No - because cortisol actually breaks down muscle, too. And at an astounding rate. That's right folks - if you don't eat breakfast, your body starts eating it's own muscles. *Then*, once these stress chemicles are in your body, it figures there is a reason that you are not eating, so it shifts it's priority to putting on fat, figuring there is a food shortage. Then, when you finally grab lunch at midday, your body releases a massive surge of Insulin, only this time it is geared to doing it's very best to force as much of the contained sugar into your body's fat reserves as possible, preparing to combat the food shortage. This sucks all the sugar out of your bloodstream as fast as it is put in, making you lethargic and sleepy. With a full stomach (because you were so hungry before lunch that you ate alot), you are not hungry again for hours and hours, and so once again your body starts to slow down, seeing as no new food is ebtering your system. hence a vicious circle begins. Eat breakfast. Even if it makes you feel ill, keep at it. Within one month, your body will adapt to having food on it's stomach first thing in the morning, and you will actually be hungry when you wake up, and you will feel great. |
Thanks for that info Bardan But, I dunno. It just seems to me if I'm not hungry I shouldn't eat. I don't want to enlarge my stomach to where it needs more food to fill it. As I stand now, I weigh about 93 pounds, only stand at 5 foot tall, so I feel I'm good, not too skinny, not too fat, out of shape yes LOL. Most of my workday is sitting in front of a PC, so not big physical movement going on. If I did more physical labor at work things might be different, I'd probably be hungry sooner. I remember when I was 18 I worked at a construction site, was the person who cleaned units after they were built and all hooked up, etc., was quite a physical job, and I remember being starving by 11:00am when the beloved "roach coach" would trundle along :D
I mean maybe your theories are correct, for some?, but everyone's body is different. I just think if I started to force meals down when I wasn't hungry, I would gain weight at an incredible rate, and not be able to stop, it might become an addiction (and I'm pretty prone to addictions, I think its hereditary actually). Well, I never usually have this problem, but if I do, then I might go to Happy Mart, or Reddi Mart in the morning, and get some food (They are convenience stores near my school). If I don't have money, then I go around the school asking people aimlessly for food. :D

I always have it. Have to.
Mainly because it`s the only food I eat before lunch at quarter to one; even though we do get to have recess at about 11; I found that if I eat at recess, I start getting on the verge of obesity, but if I don`t I stay in the "healthy weight" area... if I don`t eat breakfast or don`t eat lunch, I loose more weight, but i`m a bit worried that if I do that for too long, i`ll become severly underweight; not something I want, either. Thus, three meals a day, and not much else |
Well When I work days at work I always have breaky. Usally two eggs hash browns and toast coffee and juice if not I can get nothing done at work just not enough energy.
@epona I rember the days that I worked in england and making fried bread that stuff makes you have iron guts. And making a English breaky now that fills a person up sure is different here in Canada eh! |
I usually do. At home I choose something from this list: toast, some form of egg (omelet, scrambled, over easy), a bowl of cereal, maybe some bacon, or a waffle. If I am going somewhere, I'll stop and get a croissant.
No matter what I eat, though, I will invariably have coffee, coffee, and coffee. I can go all day on 3 or 4 cups of coffee. |
Nah, never have breakfast. I eat two meals a day at the very most, and if I do, it's always lunch and dinner.
