It played every three minutes followed by another that I forget, even though it was the same two commercials. I think I have been left permanently damaged by the Riblets ditty sung to the tune of "Rawhide" I couldn't tune it out lol, I was trying to fall asleep (at 6 p.m. & a long day at school lol) I am sensitive to noise when trying to crash. I did ask Rex to turn it down but not until I had heard it at least three times at a volume it just shouldn't be heard at LOL
AAAAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!! I know the one you mean Moni, and I HATE IT!!!!!! And I swear, if I have to listen to N'Sync caterwaul about Chili's Baby friggin Back ribs one more time, I'm going to do something drastic! Mark...Right on about the drug adverts. I am so sick of the 'Little Purple Pill' ads, or Nexium, or Prevacid, of Procrid, or Prylosec, or..or..or...AAAARRRRGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!! *BRAIN MELTING*!!!!!!! *Wanders off to TV free zone and tries desperately to re-align his brain with a good book* :D |

Good topic Mark. PS: I have no idea what party he is running on. Although, from the flavor of his ads, I'd guess he's an Independant. |
Nachtrafe you just had to do that baby back rib thing didnt you? I truly detest that ad lol
There was a hilarious one from last year for Miller Lite beer where this guys date had to use a portajon and he accidently knocked it down the hill with her in it! |
You have to admit that "can you hear me now?" and "dude, you're gettin' a Dell" are quickly becoming cutural fad icons, much like "where's the beef?" and "I've fallen, and I can't get up" were in years past.
You realize, of course, that commercials are supposed to be annoying, because it makes you pay attention more. Think of the commercial you hate the most. Now name the product. That commercial was a success. |

I agree that the "Dude, you're gettin' a Dell" ad is definitely becoming a cultural icon. It will be part of the 2000's time capsule, like "Where's the Beef" and "Spuds McKenzie" was for the 1980's, and the "Yo Quiero Taco Bell" chihuahua was for the 90's. Like all pop cultural icons, it will eventually fade away as well. Watching TV was a habit I gave up years ago. Somewhere between "American Gladiators", "Full House", and "Married with Children", I decided that TV had degenerated past the lowest common denominator of trash and turned it off. I watch maybe 1 hour of TV for every two weeks; predominantly "Weather Channel" and the "News" (most of which I get from the Internet anyway). I haven't missed it. So most of the ads you are mentioning I've never seen nor heard of. -Sazerac |

I agree that it may not make much sense, but most advertising doesn't make any sense anyway. |
