I'm much more careful now than I used to be, my hearing is precious to me. Music is the main driving force in my life I sometimes think (even tho I don't play much these days I still listen), and if I lost or damaged my hearing I would be devastated. |
around 130 decibel or something like that

I think that Yorick overreacted a bit just at one small joke. The thought of losing my hearing is for me definitely not pleasant either, I love music and I don't think that I'd want to live if I couldn't hear anything at all. But that doesn't mean that I don't take life a little lightly and joke a bit about serious things. As long as I'm not serious about the joking and don't care about exposing myself to levels of sound that'd damage my hearing I can't see how harmful it can be. |
Waaaaaaaaaaay more than loud enough, in addition to a huge stereo, we also have 6 Bosse surround sound and a huge base speaker! BOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!! I on;y love listening to songs I like loud though (and off the topic)..... I love dvds with surround!

A moderate volume, seriously I don't see what the big deal is with having music loud enough to make your ears bleed. This way I can enjoy the music at a reasonable level without disturbing anyone enough for them to complain.
Sometimes I raise the volume to a level where I can experience music in a better way (some rock songs from Creed and Linkin park have a lot of sounds you can't really appreciate on a volume other then very loud). Sometimes I'm walking down the street and I hear music being played from a building fairly far away clearly, whats the point in having it that loud? God I sound old :D but I'm serious. |
Depends really. When I'm in the boarding house, I've got a 5-point Altec Lansing speaker system that pisses off the roommates and has people in the other house banging on the walls begging for the hurting to stop :D :D
When I'm at home, we've got a Bose 6-point speaker surround system, so I just sit on the couch right in the middle of all the speakers and blast away till the walls shake. Its a different case when I'm playing with the PS2 because the constant repeating sounds get annoying, but when it comes to music, its up all the way. The thing about it is that its never really quite loud enough, but when you turn the music off and then on again, you'll realise quite how loud you already are.. |
I have speakers right under my feet, and four around me, plus a stereo right besides me head around my computer. Seriously, though, i can't play my music any louder than a bloody whisper or I have to have headphones because I live in a street which is all pensioners except me. So i can't boom Hole, or any of my other favourite bands, out anywhere near as loud as I like. However, using headphones means I'm cronically deaf... ;)

Whenever some idiot brags about "going deaf" or "making their ears bleed" as some have done here even AFTER my post, you know they are all talk and have done ZERO damage YET. Believe me, everyone I know who got ear damage from loud music got very serious about the issue. Do we joke about getting leperosy, losing our sense of smell/taste, or going blind? "Oh yeah man, I played Half life for two weeks straight without a break. I'm bind now but it was worth it!" Yeah right. These guys have no idea. NO IDEA. |
