I see it as a combined joke/eyeopener, it has a slight element of fun while also actually pointing out some things that one should think about a bit before one shouts: "Yay! To be fair Yorick Hitler was only the hundreth person (approximately) to join the Nazi party. It was set up by Anton Drexler in 1919 so yes, the Nazi's did exist without Hitler. What I can just feel is about to be written as a response is that he made them powerful. Once again that is not entirely true. You can see that even when Hitler was leader the Nazi's were completely ineffectual during the "Golden Years" of Weimar. The Munich Putsch failed drastically, as did Hitler's bid for the presidency. Hitler was not the factor that bought the Nazi's to power, a number of coinciding factors (mostly economical and social) bought them to power. Hitler was instrumental, don't get me wrong, but they would quite definately have been a force to be reckoned with even if he had never been born.
Islamic fundamentalist terrorism is not going to be solved by killing one man. Even if Osama bin Laden is completely wiped from people's brains it does not remove the incentive that some people have to do these actions. There is the simile here of the man buying goldfish. He puts the goldfish in the water, it dies. So he gets another one and puts it in, and that dies too. By the fifth goldfish he might try and check the water... I am not saying give in, I am just saying that we have been here before on a smaller scale and this approach hsan't worked. Anyway... sorry about the rant... |

Yorick is right, once again Silver Cheetah, I hope your post is a joke

The material was posted to provoke thought and discussion, rather than to merely provoke.... |

Anyway... sorry about the rant...

If I can butt in....ever read "Mein Kamph"? Hitler had a plan. He also bought his way into power in Germany in the fourth election of 1942. He only had 44% of the vote until money was doled out to 10% of the right wing, putting him into office. It was Hitler that took Nazi-ism into Germany and made something of it with Germany's constitutional law giving their president the power to call for martial law. He pulled their country out of an economic depression by putting people in the Army, into labor or into concentration camps. Then he set forth to complete his plan for Germany's world dominance. It is Bin-Laden doing the majority of the financing for the members of Al Quaeda and their agenda. Not much can be done to make a big statement when it is not being supported by big money. I happen to agree with Yorick on this one and on his dissection of the post that started all of this. Sensationalism has power, but common sense must prevail. Just my 2 cents.
