Sweaties, Taffs and Pom Poms must be local Aussie insults. Never heard of them before here in New England.

Taffs - Welsh

A while ago these labels were used as insults, now they're just used as friendly descriptives, much like the Kiwis call us shackledraggers and we call them sheepshaggers. People generally don't get offended by them, it's all to do with the tone and body language used, of course - however if anyone here does (I know we've a few Welshmen and Scots around the place), I'm happy to not use that terminology - it's all about respect and adapting one's behaviour to be more considerate to others, after all. ;)
