Talthy: In the Hackney council elections the Socialist Alliance (mostly Trots) got over 20% of the vote in several wards, and kept their deposit in every single seat where they had candidates - and the BNP (nazis) won 3 seats in Burnley - so we have the same polarization taking place in England.

Indeed, it'll be a sad day for the world if the BNP become the gov. in England. For those of you who don't know, the BNP is a "Send em back where they came from" party. While they have strong views on crime, they are extremely racist. The BNP is made up of criminals, and one was even photographed wearing a Nazi uniform.

What always amuses me about the BNP is that they favour a tough policy on crime, yet nearly all of the members have convictions for violence. They appear to be tough on the kind of crime committed by people the wrong colour, thats for certain. But it would just be stupid to say they were against a good old punch up...

Actually that makes them less scary to me... if their reputation's impeccable they are much harder to combat, and people will trust them sooner, thinking they can't be so bad, "they're just saying aloud what we're all thinking, they're not racist, just realistic...." etc.

Well, I was just pointing out an inconsistancy, thats all. Mind you, I don't think we need to spend too much time attacking their policies. They tend to fall apart if you even look at them too hard...

But yes, I totally agree. Respectability is a hell of a lot scarier than mindless thuggery. But quite a lot of them are now suited and booted, it looks like they might be able to bury an undesirable past at some point. But I sincerely hope not.

The British government shelved plans for Mayer elections in Bradford and other cities fearing BNP (british national parties) being elected.
