I'll toss some grammar your way, hopefully without giving away the translation.

illo -- correct analysis, though not necessarily "jener" in the sense of "the former"; a fair gloss is "that"
quod -- you're right, it's from qui, quae, quod; "which". Both times.
nec...nec -- if you see one nec, look for another. It's a popular correlative: "neither. . . nor"
eripi -- passive infinitive, like dari
proprium -- neuter accusative, I think, with quod.
