I can't believe no one offered this up:
MULTIPLAYER. Maybe it's not possible with the engine or something? (I don't know squat about programming and what not :/ ) When I first saw my LAN buddies getting addicted to ESIII:Morrowind, and played it myself for the first time... the lack of multiplayer almost made me cry. I realised this game would be unbelievable on LAN. The experience would be unmatched. Our characters, a Battlemage, a Barbarian, a Ranger, and my Templar Knight (the Ranger and Templar Knight custom classes, of course) roaming the land, looting bandits and exploring ruins. The Battlemage and Barbarian doing some bad stuff unbeknownst to the rest of the group; the Ranger helping every NPC lost in the wilderness; and the Templar Knight tolerating the others for the greater good. Going our seperate ways from time to time to tend to the needs of our different guilds (sometimes crossing paths at odds with each other... would our loyalty to our friends, or our loyalty to our guild be more important... haha who needs friends when I have a Lord's Mail waiting for mefriendship...). Meeting up to tackle the hard missions/ruins/etc, brag about our newfound gear, and whatnot else. I wouldn't care if it was like BGII where only 1 player was the main character, or if all of us were part of the story, or what. I could go on and on about how great this would be multiplayer, but it's 6 a.m. ... Maybe no one mentioned it cause there is a multiplayer mod or something? (please tell me there is! ...if there is, of course...). I heard there was a multiplayer mod in the works for the last few months, but this was from an EXTREMELY unreliable source. No one else feels the same? p.s. check out my post about getting rid of the glowy effect on enchanted items please... [ 09-09-2004, 05:56 AM: Message edited by: cav_again ] |
The are few issues about having multiplayer function in this game.
1. The graphic is too intensive, some places has fps shot up to the roof, ashstorm also one of the cause of major fps problem. If you get it into multiplayer the lag may be unbearable. 2. In single player the game is very unstable, CTD happens too often. Imagine how frustrate you are when suddenly your friend booted out of the multiplayer game because of CTD and you have to wait for him to log on. 3. The quests is the game is design to cater the need for one player only. what if one player done the quest and you cannot do it anymore? 4. What happen if some jerk go kill an improtant npc and it trigger the doom message? will it affect your game too? 5. How do you control what item the players have? I might as well create super duper godly item and use console command to add it to myself. I can also use the console command to make all my attribute, hp and mana sky rocket. With this I can PK every other player in the game. Who can stop me? The was one multiplayer mod released but it was full of bugs and it was taken off as soon as it was uploaded. LOL. |
RPG's have to be designed for multiplayer, single-player, or a mix. The TES games are single-player oriented, and if you tried to make it multi-player, it would destroy the universe in a massive death thing.
