The Hunter of Jahanna 05-08-2002 06:39 PM

"I guess that settles it then", Andrys said."Any idea where to start looking for this things lair?? Do you think we will be able to trace the beast back to its lair from where you picked up its trail last night, Sir Vennkor??"

"Well - it certainly wasn't hard to track this way - even in the dark - so I wouldn't imagine that there will be any trouble following it the other way during daylight"

The group followed the path of devastation left by the now deceased monstrousity as they tracked it back to its lair. It appeared to be just a normal looking cave, except that it was dark. They all dismounted as they reached the door to the cave. The cave was really nondescript except for a foul odor wafting out of the entrance of it. "Well it smells like this is the place to me." Dantes stated with his nose plugged. the hunter lights a torch and the group was just about to enter the cave when 3 more of the tentacled demonspawn charged forth from the darkness. Dantes was knocked down by the first one as it led the charge out of the cave. The others headed for each of his companions. The creature attacked with a fury as Dantes struggled to rise, scoring a few minor hits as Dantes rose to his feet. The creature back off as Dantes drew his blade. As soon as it was out of its sheath the creature charged again, but this time dantes was ready for it. Crimson Death whistled trhough the air in a deadly arc severing 3 tentacles as Dantes dodges deftly to the side to avoid the creatures quick attacks. Dantes then points to the creature and mutters the words of a spell as the creature approaches again. Dantes was too fast for it this time as a green ray of light shot forth from his finger and hit the creature. The creature then simply blinked out of existance, completely disintegrated. Dantes looked around to his companions to see if they needed help.

Thanks to his Helm of Infravision Sir Vennkor got a split-second warning before the creatures charged into the light. Although there was no time to cry a warning he managed to get in front of Andrys and get his weapons ready to meet their charge.

Still the foremost of the monsters managed to land several hits on him with its tentacles - only to reel back in pain as Sir Vennkors magical defenses hit back. He ceased the oppotunity to strike himself landing several blows with his sword - one of them severing a tentacle.
