Tell you what, I think the companies that produce computer games should stop thinking up 'games for girls/women' and realise that many women like similar games to men. I am sure that more women buy what are considered 'mens' games than the market researchers estimate...
I don't appreciate games which are badly thought out, patronising, and based on an assumption of what women would like. I like to see games with interesting and varied gameplay, well thought out plots, not too simple or easy - something a bit challenging. In other words, exactly the same as male strategy/RPG gamers look for! BGII meets all of these criteria, and IMHO I would not 'give it less marks' because there was only one romance for female PCs - but neither do I appreciate being considered a second class gamer because I have a pair of (censored) and no (censored).

YES!! Female gamers want all the things men want in a game! BUT we would also like to see BALANCE & EQUALITY! OK, BG makes no difference regarding abilities and all that stuff, but NOT in Romance opportunities! Granted it is a VERY minor point in the overall gameplay, but I DO hope it is addressed in the next episode! I am currently having fun with with a male Bard Leader and his Romances, but..... sigh. Ah, well, one just has to make do, lol!

I got into them with "Betrayal at Krondor". I had just finished reading Raymond E. Feists series that started with "The Magicians Apprentice", and it was wonderful to get to BE there!! I don't know how many times I replayed that one. It gave a lot of variety. (for the time)

Thanks, although I'm not sure how to start with her. She's very practical and doesn't see how these games could be any good. Gues I'll just have to play it by ear

well the simple solution is they can create 2 different exspansions 1 being rated mature the other rated teen the mature one can be a hard core porn game where the only objective is getting laid (just imagine that on the infinity engine) and the second can be the throne of bhaal. just imagine the role playing possabiltes

That's mature? Think you need to review the meaning of the term. Fun, yes. Mature, probably not. (Not that that would stop me buying it if one came out). Why not play the Leisure Suit Larry games or Leather Goddesses of Phobos? They ran along that theme

Hey, Lord Shield, do you get over to Bluewater shopping centre, near Gravesend, much at all?

Just curious

It's a matter of game balance. To make it much more interesting to be one class/race/gender than all the others limits the gaming options, like in BG1 where being a bard rather sucked. Also, Anomen is annoying as hell...why not Haer'dalis, or even (twisted) Edwin or Yoshimo? No options for evil chars.

Heh, just imagine the romance option with Edwin while doing the Nether Scrolls quest..now THAT could get...interesting. >=D
