Not just 2H swords, 2H WEAPONS. look at how many +4 halberds and 2H Swords there are. how many of you EVER used a halberd? bet u not one. None of the NPCs really can use one.

My next game, i will recruit Mazzy and get her to specialize in halberds. I find the idea of a three foot halfling wielding a 7 foot polearm interesting to say the least...

Actually is she three feet? or two feet? i thought maybe she was 1 foot tall...

The halberd can come handy when you want to whack an Adamantite golem without getting touched.

I've never understood the deal with bards and halberds. Doesn't really seem like a classical bard weapon to me, but anyway.
Halberds do as much base damage as two-handed swords, and they're certainly abundant around BG2. In fact the only real difference between a two-handed sword and a halberd is the speed factor, a base two-hander having one point lower than a base halberd.

The deal is you'd normally use a Bard in a missile/spells/song role away from the action so one slot goes to a Longbow or good crossbow. The Halberd is the best melee weapon a Bard can use. It's pointless using a shield because they can only use bucklers (there's an insulting rhyme in there somewhere.) Unless of course you have a Blade, in which case you may as well dual weild Bastards Swords or their ilk seeing as that's the whole point of a Blade.

I told you I was not an expert in Bards, that is why the image of a Bard entering a pub where he is going to entertain people holding a halberd struck me as pretty funny !

I've not considered it that way but ... I guess a Halberd +2 is an interesting weapon after all !
