Hello,
I am new to posting to this forum but I think I used the Wizards and Warrions, Baldur's Gate Forums but I cannot remember my login name. My name is Kermit and I live in Madison, Connecticut. I am 32 years old and started computer gaming with the original Pong system. I cannot remember what my first true CRPG was but I did play Wizardry I, Bard's Tale I and others. I love Wizardry 8 but unfortunately my multitude of other intersts do not let me play as much as I want. These other interests are Yoga, Whitewater Kayaking, Off-road motorcycling, Pottery, RPG and CCG games with friends, RPGA Living Greyhawk, ... I do play other PC games and I am fond of the turn based strategy games and Total Anihilation. Thats all for now. |
I am 32 years old, a male and also live in Nashville. Love all RPG's as well as FPS'ers and occasional strategy games. Family and career prevent me from playing as frequently as I would like
|
OK, my true name is Mark. I'm 41, and live in Rowville, Victoria, and am very happy married to a wife and a cat.
I work as a Quality System Auditor. ( ... and for a really weird coincidence, Davros's company supplies the raw materials that winds up as raw materials for where I work ) Played Dungeons and Dragons for about 10 years until I got bored with it. Current hobbies apart from CRPGs include learning music, ice skating, playing old pinball machines, and cooking. I also enjoy insulting dogs. The 1st CRPG I completed was Temple of Apshai, and the 75th CRPG I completed ( last week ) was Anachronox. Also an active member of "Aussies waiting for Wizardry 8". |
I'm 26, from Singapore. I remember my first Wiz game, more than a decade ago, when computers do not have any hard disks. Anyway I didnt finish the game - I was very high level (I think) and just learnt a new teleport spell and decided to try it out. I think I got myself teleported into a wall and killed my entire party. Anyway back then the game was sorta like the iron man mode in wiz 8, they save by themselves. Did try to raise the floppy drive lever though, but was too late. And I said to myself, I'm not going to go through that few months of hell again!!! =P

Hello Everyone! It is a pleasure meeting you all!
I am a forty-something female. A Registered Nurse by profession and single with 3 cats. Oh, gosh, am embarrassed to admit I got hooked on RPG's by playing Zelda on Nintendo! I played every "RPG" ever made for video games.......but Dragon Warrior, Wizardry 1, and Phantasy Star were my favorites! I think Pool of Radiance was my first RPG for the computer. I ask ya now, could life get any better than.....a purring kitten curled up in your lap, the computer speakers turned up high, a nice cup of hot peppermint tea.... while peering thru the darkness at a computer screen where your adventuring party has just rounded the bend and is looking at the entrance to a brand new town! Yay! We finally made it! Ok, now! You all will keep my little secret won't ya?? Come on, puhleeze? (I've been trying to convince my new bf what an active, outgoing person I am!) |
Hello, my name is Eric Housden, I'm 24 years old and I'm new to the Wizardy8 forum. I was one of the first trailblazers for Wizards&Warriors, and a contributor to the IronWorks forum and 'hints + tips' back in the day.
I'm a software engineer from Redmond, WA; and sometimes I wish that allowed /more/ time for CRPGs rather than less. :D I've been married for about 2 months now, and I own two cats (or rather they own my apartment). Some of the first CRPGs I can remember playing include Might+MagicII, Ultima:Exodus and Temple of Ashphai. The first rpgs I really fell in love with included Dragon Warrior, Final Fantasy and the "Shining In The Darkness" anthology from Sega's development side of the fence. The first Wizardry game I was able to enjoy was Wizardy 7: Crusaders of the Dark Savant. This was quite simply a /remarkable/ game; and the only single CRPG I played longer than Betrayal at Krondor before it was completed. I must have gone back over and over, recreating part after party for over an entire year! What an absolutely marvelous game Wizardy 7 was (W&W wasn't bad either, but it seemed very short in comparison). I really hate game-spoilers, and I appreciate the sensitive nature of the IronWorks forums. Hints and tips are great, but spoilers can really ruin the experience for anyone! Also, I'd like to add how impressed I am over the age spectrum for the posters here. It makes me feel priveledged to share in the community of such a diverse and widely spread forum (Australia?). Looking forward to staying for a while ... And mostly, I'm looking forward to the /entire/ experience of Wizardry8! Cheers! |
Ouch! I just pressed the wrong button and my posting went before I had finished. As I was trying to say:
My name is Steve and I live in Sydney Australia. I am turning 45 tomorrow. I am married with 2 daughters living with us and a son who has decided to make a go of it out on his own. My first taste of RPG's was Advanced Dungeons and Dragons on the Sega. I was totally hooked. We only had one tv at the time and I used to constantly fight everyone so I could play. We soon got our 2nd tv. I have recently been made redundant at work and I am slowly driving my wife insane. We dont have any cats but we do have a Jack Russel dog called Scotty. Oh and we have 2 budgies, 2 ring neck parrots, 2 Rozellas and about 20 goldfish at last count. I'm amazed at the average age of the ppl in the forum. I thought that at my age I must be rather weird to love CRPG's. Them again maybe we all are a bit on the strange side. But it is nice to know there are others out there with a similar passion. Well bye for now, I hope to be able to return often to see how you all are progressing with the game and maybe I will post a short note letting you know how my game is going........that is when I can get it. Oh Oh, the shakes are starting over again....gotta go and play the demo again. |
Heh... You know... I usually win those "who is the eldest here"
contests, but not this time. My name is Ulises Victoria (really!) aka as Ðrâktøn, and I'm 52. I live in Monterrey, Mexico, just a couple hours drive South of Texas. I'm surprised to see so many over 30 gamers here, which accounts in part to the level of the posts: intelligent and informative. My first crpg was Ultima Underworld The Stygian Abyss. At that time I had no idea I was playing a crpg. I didn't know what a rpg was. Only thing I knew was that game got me hooked to my computer for so many hours, and played it over and over again. I'm a big fan of first person crpgs: Daggerfall, the Might & Magics, Wizards & Warriors, Stonekeep, Anvil of Dawn. This is my first Wizardry. I only got it a couple hours ago. Greetings to everyone. |
Wow! It is so unusual to see a forum that has no profanity or racist crap on it. This is really great.
I am 60 today and played Wizardry 1 on my Apple back in the early 80's. In fact, I had problems with the game and called the company from California to New York. They said someone would get back to me but, since it was long distance, I didn't really believe anyone would. Well, I couldn't believe it when the creator of the game called me and talked to me for over an hour about it! Needless to say, you just don't find support like that everyday. So, I have played all the Wizardry games since then, but have never quite finished any of them. Always got too hard in the end and I refuse to cheat. As an oldtimer and a great fan of RPG's I have to say that Wizardry 8 is the all time best and I hope that everyone supports SirTech and keeps the pirates away. Thats the only way we can hope to see a sequel to a really fantastic game. I may actually finish this one! Gotta go and get my mage up a level.... |
It is really nice the way this thread is taking off!
Hopefully we'll just keep adding and adding Wizardry 8 players and addicts ;) KNIP AND JERSEY! Knip, We had ten really big goldfish in a pond out front...I killed them in a bizarre accident this summer...left the hose on overnight and overflowed the pond, washing railroad-tie-ick into the water...it was not pretty...and we still haven't told Grandpa that his fish are gone so mum's the word OK?! (Yeah, I'll admit to "strange" ;) :D |
