The other item is truly not attainable in any of the games (BG1, ToSC, SoA, or ToB) except off of the demonknight on the ground floor. However, it is also a cursed item, so you really would not use it (unless you want to have characters like Shar-Teel and Kivan together in the same party ;) ).

Umm....I don't know which website that was either, but whatever it was, it's dead wrong. All Otiluke's does is block all forms of physical attack or magic from entering or leaving the Sphere. So while the demonknight wouldn't be able to throw Fireballs, you wouldn't be able to hurt him--and the Sphere would not prevent him from Dimension Dooring away.
