Cool, thanks Six.

I'd be down with the Item Upgrades, because I'd have to pay for them.

I'll install Virtue as well, for the rest of my games. This will give me more of a 'roleplay' feel.

Q'alooaith 11-17-2004 06:08 PM

Six, your just talking nonsense now, everybody know's you use wing's for mage robes...

The neck is made up of thee same plate's as the back and belly, the back tending to have larger hard scales, the belly is covered with many smaller scales over a tough leathery hide, the wing's are a thick membrain with a thin leathery skin much like the ear of a human or elf.

Annnnnywayyyyy....back to the original topic of the thread

I'll update it when I finish with my Fighter. What class should I do next?

You can suggest a class or kit / race / alignment combination, and I'll see if I like it.

Nothing dumb, like Dwarf thieves. The race would have to be a common idea, like a Dwarf or Half-Orc Beserker, Halfling Thief, etc.

For the neck scales, I was thinking of the throat area, just behind the jaw. Those scales would have to offer a decent amount of protection (since they get pretty close to the enemy) yet would have to be light & flexible enough to let the Dragon use his teeth. Wing membrane is far too stiff to make Mage Robes from, it's almost as tough as leather.

I raise Dragons for a hobby, I should know.

Q'alooaith 11-18-2004 09:31 AM

Well you can't use it untreated, some craftsmen just slice the skin off the membrain and use that instead as there's where it get's it's protective quality's from..

The joy of scale's is they are rigid to strike's on their surface, but allow for a large ammount of flexing, take a good look at the fish you feed your young draco's (you do feed them fish, you know red meat can make their tummy's upset when they are young)

Dragon's devloped hard scales on their back's because it's an area they can't defend as easly, on their fron't they have huge claw's, head and as such breath and teeth to lend to the fray, meaning they don't need as much protechtion since nothing lasts very long in front of an angry dragon..

Back to the topic time I think..

I'd like to suggest a Half Orc, Barbarian, any evil alinment.. Explore the dark side.

Riftmaker 11-24-2004 05:10 PM

Okay Okay, I know it has been a long long long time since I've updated this.

I've caved in and changed my idea....again.

My party will now consist of three people.

PC
Romance Character
Yoshi->Imoen

I've made this change because I found it hard for myself to stick to my origanal idea, and because the game gets really easy really fast if I only have 2 people.

I also thought I'd try a class I've never used before...a Monk.

So my party right now is....

PC->Monk
Romance Character (Will be Anomen)
Yoshi/Imoen

I will take Q'alooaith's (couldn't you pik a name that's easier to spell?) suggestion and run an evil Barbarian next. His romance will obviously be Viconia. I think the two will go well together.

What weapon(s) should the Barbarian use? Because generally Barbarians like big weapons, I'm going to restrict it to:

Two Handed Swords
Halberds
Spears

Is it just me, or are there NO two handed blunt weapons. Should I take a staff just so I can kill Clay Golems?

Also, would as an evil character, should I play to gain the most EXP, or just play it evilly (no matter the EXP cost)...I'm thinking mostly in terms of the Stronghold.

Riftmaker 11-24-2004 06:09 PM

Addendum...

I will only run through the game as many times as there are romances. This includes all the mods.

So if someone *pokes Six and Cerek* would be so kind as to list ALL of the romancable characters including mods, that'd be cool.

These are the ones I know of, and what PC I'm going to play with them. Feel free to suggest others. The only restriction is that I refuse to play straight / specialist mages (with the exception of Wild Mage). Also, I will not play any kit more than once.

So far.

Aerie: None so far
Anomen: LG Monk
Imoen: None so far
Jaheira: None so far
Nalia: None so far
Viconia: NE Barb

I know there are other romances out there.

Also, please only suggest characters that the romance NPC would get along with. No good / evil conflicts please.

For example, I'd like to see Jaheira with a druid, Imoen with a Thief or Mage, etc.

Thanks in advance for your input.

For the record, SixofSpades knows more about the game and the Mods than I'll ever know. And jcompton has done extensive work on NPC Mods. He helped develop the Keto (female bard) NPC. It took over 2.5 years to finish her Mod, so they have put a LOT of work into her interactions, dialogue, etc. I don't know if she is a romance option, but she sounds like a worthy addition to your game anyway.

I used the Game Banshee site to get a feel for all the NPC's before I played the game for the first time. It gave me a good idea of which ones I would want in different parties.

All of the Mods I've installed came from Weimer's Site. I've installed Valen and Kelsey, but never tried Solufein. One last place to look for more Mods (including more NPC's you can romance) would be Pocket Plane. I believe they have ALL the Mods currently available for BG2 (and the other BioWare games as well)..including a HUGE list of NPC's. Here is a direct link to all the NPC's you can download from Pocket Plane --> More BG2 NPC's. I noticed that quite a few of these offer optional romances for the PC.

So here is an update to your NPC list along with some suggestions of what PC *I* would most likely choose for the romance option.

Aerie - elven Ranger (straight or Archer kit). I don't really care for the Beast Master kit, but Aerie might.
Anomen - LG monk (sounds good to me. I chose a LG Undead Hunter for him myself).
Imoen - CG Swashbuckler (perhaps half-elven). Or maybe the Wild Mage option you mentioned earlier.
Jaheira - Human druid (Avenger kit).
Nalia - Wizard Slayer kit (mainly because it is one of my favorite kits - but should also appeal to Nalia, who is looking for a strong fighter-type to take charge of the keep. Could also install Ease-of-Use Mod (for multiple strongholds) and try a paladin (I think the cavalier kit would really appeal to Nalia).
Viconia - NE Barbarian (works for me. Barbarian was my FAVORITE class from 1st edition AD&D. I had a 25+ level Barbarian that kicked butt on everybody he met and had god-like hit points...and his name was Cerek too. ;) ). As for the "blunt weapon" choice, don't insult your barbarian with a staff (those are used by wimpy mages). No sir, give him a big, heavy warhammer and he will be a happy head-smasher. :D (and he should definitely take a 2-hand sword as his primary weapon ).

Now for other romanceable NPCs....

Kelsey (human male sorcerer) - I created an NG female kensai and had planned to dual her over to mage. But I may just leave her as a kensai since I plan for her to romance Kelsey.
Solaufein (drow fighter/mage) - CG elven Blade or CN bounty hunter.
Chloe (female kensai demigoddes - SOA only) - will romance female PC or Imoen. Perhaps a female cleric of Helm.
Kiara (female monk) - She might be a good match for a human or elven Inquisitor.
Tsujatha (male elven necromancer) - female elven assassin (NE or LE).

These are the only NPC's with a listed romance option. As I said earlier, I would LOVE to have a Mazzy Romance Mod...and I created a halfling Bounty Hunter to be her suitor.

So those are the options that I can find. Hope that helps.

Riftmaker 11-27-2004 02:07 PM

Thanks Cerek....I will take those under consideration.

I agree, Mazzy is HAWT! :D

Hell, I contend that all NPCs that don't have previous attachments should be romancable. In my perfect world anyway.

So this would include:

Mazzy
Minsc
Valygar (isn't there a Valygar romance mod?)
Cernd (although he may be dull to romance)
Edwin (debatable if he would even romance)
Haer'Dalis
Korgan
Yoshi (should be able to resserect him with his heart)

:D :D :D :D :D

Anyway, I'm sure I'll have fun with all these romances...I'll let you guys know what I decide to use for everybody.

rily83 11-27-2004 02:26 PM

There is an Edwin romance somewhere I heard. Haer'Dalis likes Aerie, and Korgan likes Mazzy(if you dont believe me put them together). Bioware didnt explore these relationships much but its all sort of interesting anyway. Minsc and Cernd would be weird romance choices, they're both better off as the kooky singles of the game. Actually Minsc does have Boo, and Cernd well, he can become a werewolf and you know, do stuff with other werewolves when your party is camping outdoors. Jan does like someone but she married someone else, in a very Shakespearean tragedy way.
