Personally, I would prefer that Malchor be with Drizzt's party, so that you fight them all at once--and that NONE OF THEM CHEAT. Just how hacked is Drizzt, anyway? (And edit Cattie so that she's not duplicating a supposedly-unique Bow, and Regis so that he's using a weapon he can actually Backstab with.)

Oh, and *cough* a Reputation penalty for whacking somebody this respected.

Howsabout instant infamy and rep 1 for having killed a legend so important that he has books and even a short paragraph in the BG2 manual written about him?

Change all dialogues to "You killed Drizzt - I dont like you anymore" for nice people, or "Congrats on killing Drizzt" for nasty types.

And have the entire Amnish army attack and incarcerate you. And have all your items stolen, and level drain cast on you until you are level -64 with 1 in every stat, so that Boo kills you with his petrifying gaze!

And change all the flamingoes to purple ballooons! And dancing chinchillas! And a vast array of floral tribute to the death of captain Birdseye! Mwahahahahaaaaaaaa!!

Lets be fair, the entire reputation system in BG is rubbish anyway.

Oh great, you kill a commoner... -8 to your rep.

Amazing, you saved the town and the innocent kittens... +1 to your rep.

You travel 3 days across the continent... oh look, they know about you here as well. Well I'll be damned if that isnt a fluke.

Oh, my rep is low. Time to bribe some evil priests of Talos to spread the word about how good I am. Great, rep is up again :D

Oh look, my personality and charisma has less affect on a shopkeeper than some psuedomythic reputation score.

Yip de dip, I just killed Drizzt and his party of cheating mongoloid heroes and NOBODY was around to witness it. Yet, lets penalize my reputation for killing him and let everyone else know my reputation score.

It is a FLAWED concept. Badly flawed :(

Agreed. Why can't you be a bad guy, and do enough good deeds (for reward, of course. ;) ) to have a good rep? Sarevok did just that in BG1 (start tensions between two groups, then play himself off as the savior to one of them, just so he could start a war that would allow him to achieve his goal). I liked the system in PS:T better (your actions slowly change your alignment along the way; they also instituted this in NwN, but they only did Good-Evil, not Law-Chaos). You steal from someone? Points towards Chaos. You kill a peasant? Points towards Evil. You could still have reputation, but it would be harder for someone evil to get the higher rep (not impossible, just harder, since many of the actions to get higher rep would be considered good acts, thereby affecting alignment).
