Advantage to the fiddling style of nesting it into the elbow!

Actually, that's quite a difficult style, normally only used for playing simple parts while singing. Doug Kershaw was an exception.

So... does anyone here play bagpipes?

I tried the bagpipes, once. :) I made a horrible squeak and that was that. Even though I played a reed instrument for years, the double reed is a bit difficult to get the hang of. When I win the lottery though, I'm going to buy my own set and take a lesson or two and then annoy the hell out of the neighbors. :ninjas:

I tried to play on my father's shawm some weeks ago, but since I am not trained with reed instruments at all, I had no chance. If it was a bagpipe with recorder-like embouchure, I would give it a try... :D

The fingering for the bagpipe is the same as the recorder (and clarinet and saxophone) but it's like playing an oboe. Until you get used to it, I'm told it hurts your cheeks just to get your mouth in the right position.

Just out of curiosity, how many folks have considered adding "voice over" work to their designs - not necessarily all of them but at least to part of one of them?

I know this isn't music, but it uses the same kind of files. :D

I plan to do that for Friedrich's Quest and Helmetlands, as mentioned in other threads, but it will take some time... :)

Re: Music?

I was playing Warcraft II, and thinking about this every time I clicked on a grunt and heard them say "hello" (or some variation).

I've also thought it might be fun to do all the voices for smaller sized design myself - go all Monty Python and do the female voices to. It might sound horrible, but it would be fun to do. If I write a humorous design, I am sure that I will try this.
It would be nice to have a network of voice actors for doing voice-over work for designs. I've done stuff like this for other games. It was a lot of fun to do.
