Re: Has there been a question thread before?

Have you read your question to verify exactly what you're asking? Or are you trying to run for US President so you can have a discussion about what the meaning of "is" is...?

what is?

Is that the is that is or the is that isn't?

Didn't you notice that although I didn't use an interrogative, as you so rightly point out, I did use an adverb of certainty, which was obviously used to express my conviction of the validity of the mooted point whilst the question mark showed my preference for corroboration of the same?

:D

But since you're using an adverb of certainty (surely, in this case), doesn't that then indicate that there *is* no question? Or else the adverb of certainty would certainly no longer apply, would it?

Did Bungleau just top one over ungie again? :D

Re: Has there been a question thread before?

Surely you realise that the use of "surely" in this instance, although mid-way and not simply at the start of a sentence, nor used in the standard position before any auxilary verbs or, for that matter, as a discourse connective, is one where the use of an adverb of certainty predefines the interrogative intent?

Must you post questions more than a line long this often? :P Heh

Can I answer "yes" whilst pretending it's a question?

Don't they arrest bad guys and then lock them in small dirty dank little rooms with a man named Bubba?

Can't you just read the entire thread to find out whether I'm telling the truth? I thought you'd finished your finished exams, so what else have you got to do with your time?

Wouldn't she have *always* finished her finished exams? Except for those in Finnish... is it truly possible to finish your Finnish exams? Or is it to Finnish your finished exams?

Doesn't everyone? I mean, is it that much different from the "going to work in your pajamas (or lack thereof) dreams?
