Yup, I always thought we Baptists had the edge on potlucks. ..not much chicken though.
Funny, 3 of the 4 items on my plate yesterday were pasta. I did to the table late though.. |
Theft!
I've been a victim of a crime!
Someone have stolen one of my frozen pizzas from a freezer in my student hall. I talked to this Canadian guy who lives here as well and he's missing a pizza too. What is the world coming to? |

I have no choice, those are the only freezers.

Re: Cloudy or Cloudy's Cafe, the quickstop verison! Oct 1, 2008
Hmm reminds me of a camp trip I went with my church's youth group on once. Kid ordered pizzas for himself and a bunch of others, and while he was at it, tacked on a delivery expense of his own (legit, but not really right IMO) He recieved the pizzas and went to deliver them, but his customers weren't at their rooms, so he left the boxes in front of their doors, guys get back to their rooms and no pizzas (so they say, they could have eaten them then claimed they never got them...) He ended up having to pay them back. Due to some serious miscalculations he came up short and had to pay back out of pocket otherwise they were threatening to mob him. On his part though it was just sheer stupidity.
As you said Stratos, you had little choice in this situation. Don't suppose you forsee having enough to by a small personal freezer for your room with a pad-lock on it? |
Re: Cloudy or Cloudy's Cafe, the quickstop verison! Oct 1, 2008
Nah, not much would fit into a small freezer.
BTW, is it possible to lace a pizza with castor oil? |
Re: Cloudy or Cloudy's Cafe, the quickstop verison! Oct 1, 2008
Perhaps, but you'd have to make sure you know which one it is so you don't accidentally eat it yourself, and there's the difficulty of making sure no one can tell the box has been tampered with. Not sure what Castor oil does particularly, but you could try exlax or some similar product for more amusing results.
Hehe, just did some looking up, stick with the Castor Oil, Stratos. |
Re: Cloudy or Cloudy's Cafe, the quickstop verison! Oct 1, 2008
You sure could.... pick up a syringe, fill it with castor oil, poke it through the packaging, and no one will be the wiser... until later....

Re: Cloudy or Cloudy's Cafe, the quickstop verison! Oct 1, 2008
Hey all, I haven't been here for a little while. I've been busy with uni stuff.
By which I mean, drinking more than I probably should and watching the Warrior King. |
Re: Cloudy or Cloudy's Cafe, the quickstop verison! Oct 1, 2008
I was wondering where you were... hadn't seen you in a bit. I think UV had a question for you about something... ;)
Aside from the alcohol-blood level, how's uni going? |
Re: Cloudy or Cloudy's Cafe, the quickstop verison! Oct 1, 2008
Heh, it's been fun. Except last night one of my friends fell asleep on my bed, woke up, ran into the bathroom and was violently sick in my sink. I was rather worried about him.
And aim UV my way, I'll answer whatever he wants to ask. |
Re: Cloudy or Cloudy's Cafe, the quickstop verison! Oct 1, 2008
*rummages behind the counter for a spare UV, loads, and points*
LOL! The true measure of friendship is whether you cleaned up after him, or forced him to clean it up himself. As a parent, I can tell you that the true measure of love is when you reach out your hands to catch it before it hits the floor... few people *really* qualify at that level :nono: |
Re: Cloudy or Cloudy's Cafe, the quickstop verison! Oct 1, 2008
What about if your more likely to join them in the puking, upon the site/smell of them puking?
|
Re: Cloudy or Cloudy's Cafe, the quickstop verison! Oct 1, 2008
That's why it's a true measure of friendship and love. If you're willing to risk that... you're more than just an average friend.

I don't drink at all. And I'm almost guarenteed to start puking along side them, if I see them puking.
Some things that bother others, don't bother me. Puking isn't one of those things. Now then, perhaps we should switch to a more appetizing topic? :D |

My sink is still blocked. Anyway, how is everyone? |
Re: Cloudy or Cloudy's Cafe, the quickstop verison! Oct 1, 2008
True friendship indeed...
Anyway, on a brighter topic, let's head to the bathroom, shall we? I mentioned earlier this week that the *simple* project of painting the bathroom this past weekend grew a bit out of control. What with needing to replace drywall, yanking up old bits of shower door frame that were <strike>welded</strike> attached to the tub, it grew beyond the initial two hour estimate I had. It's almost done, and the first showers were held in there this morning :thewave: Note to self: next time you decide to cover medium- to dark-blue walls with yellow paint, put on some primer first... that way, you won't have to put on 3-4 coats of paint... and counting... On the bright side (and boy, is that room bright!), I shouldn't have to touch that bathroom for several years. At least, once I finish putting up the shelves, the towel bars, the new toilet paper holder, and touch up the rest of the spots where the blue paint is pushing through. Anyone else have more bright and cheery things, to get us away from the whole :puke: thing? |
Re: Cloudy or Cloudy's Cafe, the quickstop verison! Oct 1, 2008
Couldn't just use a heat gun to remove the existing dark paint? Or does that only work for certain paints?
|
Re: Cloudy or Cloudy's Cafe, the quickstop verison! Oct 1, 2008
Can you use a heatgun on drywall? It seems like it would be too hot...
|
Re: Cloudy or Cloudy's Cafe, the quickstop verison! Oct 1, 2008
Perhaps, never tried it. To be honest, the last time I saw someone remove paint with a heat gun was when my dad repainted our porch, when I lived up in Pennsylvania, when I was like 5-6 yrs old. Soo, umm close to 20 years ago.
Not to turn this into a political discussion, but I just saw an Obama ad that amused me greatly. He essentially promised to improve education by boosting funding and approving more teachers. Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't that out of the Fed's jurisdiction? I was under the impression that it was a state controlled process. |
Re: Cloudy or Cloudy's Cafe, the quickstop verison! Oct 1, 2008
Well, I don't know if a heat gun would work on drywall or not. I suspect not, since the paint impregnates into the paper that wraps the drywall.
Plus, the thought of spending *hours* with a high-powered hairdryer, trying to remove paint, is not the kind of thing I'd like to repeat ;) I'm also no professional painter, who might be motivated to do things like that. I'm a "paint over it, who'll know?" kind of guy... :heee: Gonna have to take another look in there today to see how it's holding up. I *think* I probably just have to do another coat around the trim, which shouldn't take long. And I have to patch up all the places where the #$%^@!#$^ paint came off along with the masking tape... :madhell: Never got around to stripping and recaulking the sink. Maybe next time... |
Re: Cloudy or Cloudy's Cafe, the quickstop verison! Oct 1, 2008
Ugh...home improvement...thankfully, I think that kind of thing will tend to be the kind of thing Elizabeth gives me direction on, and only really makes me do the complicated parts of...so, plumbing, yeah. Replacing sinks, absolutely. Painting? She'd ask me to help, but I wouldn't be working on it alone....
Well, I assume not, anyway...not that we live together (waiting for marriage for that one). |
Re: Cloudy or Cloudy's Cafe, the quickstop verison! Oct 1, 2008
Ah, yes... you don't know what debt is until you have a mortgage, and you don't know what free time is until you have a house :) I should be done with this bathroom in another day... at least, for the stuff I'm finishing :D
I thought I detected some new words in there, Ilander! So... young lady in your life, making significant inroads... sounds like life is moving along swimmingly! What else is happening? |
Re: Cloudy or Cloudy's Cafe, the quickstop verison! Oct 1, 2008
Yup, ..spent the day out doing stuff yesterday again. Stared at 9am went till about 4:30pm with a quick lunch in there. I ache all the way down to my tail-bone. (actually, I'd like to know what I did to it)
The weather was actually good yesterday; maybe 50-60ish. |
Re: Cloudy or Cloudy's Cafe, the quickstop verison! Oct 1, 2008
Eurgh. You know a few days ago I said my drunk friend threw up in my sink? I kinda repayed the favour.
Never do seven vodka shots at five am, and then try and wake up at eight. Definatly learnt my lesson. |
Re: Cloudy or Cloudy's Cafe, the quickstop verison! Oct 1, 2008
Well that's obvious :P - if you do seven vodka shots at 5am you should never, ever try to sleep - you just stay awake through it and wait 'til 8am arrives*.
Also note that if you do seven vodka shots at 5am you should not top it off with five at 7am. Does this mean things are looking up for you and you are partying 'til late, or that they are still going downhill and you're drinking yourself into oblivion**? *Work is the curse of the drinking classes - Oscar Wilde **it's kind of hard to tell the difference between these two unless you're the one doing it, in which case it's impossible. |
Re: Cloudy or Cloudy's Cafe, the quickstop verison! Oct 1, 2008
Hey UV, I was told you wanted to ask me something a while ago? Any truth in that?
And they're looking up, I think I'm still working well, but I am going out drinking. And getting drunk fast, cos I'm rather short and light, and have never really drunk before I came to uni. Don't worry, I'm not planning on screwing up my liver. |

Looking up!?!?!!
Sounds like she's been looking at the sink, or toilet bowl, or whatever. ;) |
Re: Cloudy or Cloudy's Cafe, the quickstop verison! Oct 1, 2008
Hah, well that day was pretty rough. But hey, learning limits and all.
And also learning I can cope with tequila shots better than vodka shots. :P |
