Hello, everyone. Hope that all is well with you all.

Cloudbringer 02-28-2007 09:43 PM

Going off to bed soon, have the end of a headache that's been with me for 4 days now. Hoping it totally vanishes by tomorrow!

And you midwesterners in the US can keep all the snow you're sending our way! We're expecting about 5 inches tomorrow!

wellard 03-01-2007 12:38 AM

BAck ... you all missed me huh?

Bloody lightning strike zapped the computer, all the m-board USB ports are fried and the modem cable. Oh joy trying to work that problem out. I was just about to go to the shops to buy a new modem when Carolyn changed the cable and hey presto!

johnny 03-01-2007 12:58 AM

Your wife is a genius Wellard, she just saved you some money, which you will most likely now spend on alcohol, you should thank her. :D

And welcome back Attalus, good to see you posting in the Cafe again.

bubbe 03-02-2007 06:04 PM

going home to my parents for a week, haven't been there since Christmas/new year so I kinda miss them right now... and of course I going to meet my friends that I known for a few years... missing them too!

A few of them have moved but just a few miles so I'm going to visit them at their new homes and see how they lives and what they doing in school.
Never been driving in such big city(where they moved)so I'm a bit nervous but I hope it will go just fine!

and yeah... we started with opengl in school two weeks ago and I hate it. stupid matrix and such you need to know to ******* rotate and translate and scale and such... got bored pretty fast.
The next three weeks we are going to procedure a demo using opengl with features like landscapes, solar systems and such. Don't looking forward to it! blah!

NOTE: -OK, watch the language, bubbe, that one's not ok on this family site!- Cloudy

*looks at bubbe's language and faints* Think of the children!

Life is good!

I just got a new phone - Sony Ericsson W880i. It's bloody lovely!

College is going alright...my friends rock and lessons aren't too bad right now. It's fairly enjoyable!

Driving is going great, got my theory booked in for just under 3 weeks away, and hopefully my practical test will follow suit soon after!

I fancy the pants off this girl at college and am trying my damn hardest to pull her ;) !

I'm going to Newcastle (Geordie Scum) v Boro (Finest team in football, the world has ever seen) away so that should be fun indeed!

Anyway :D How about you all? I hope you're feeling as spiffing as I am :D

[Add] Never seen that message before - you have used too many smilies [/Add]

DrowArchmage 03-03-2007 06:12 PM

OMG!!! I hate snow! its like three foot!! I just want to shoot it all with a giant fireball so it will melt.

Sever 03-05-2007 10:22 PM

Wouldn't mind me a bit of snow just now. Damn it's hot!

*happywave* to all. I've finally been able to set up an internet account in my not-so-new apartment. It's been bloody ages since i've had a regular connection (november) and i'm keen to catch up on stuff. Firstly, i'm needing a new free anti-virus soft since AVG no longer come to the party. Anyone know of a decent one?

Got made redundant at my last workplace about a month ago (i knew i was working too fast!) and am just about on the bones of my ass. Got picked up twice for driving whilst on fines suspension and got myself an extra $1000 worth of fines. (There's a pattern that's gonna be tricky to break!) Have got some really well-paid job offers for mines out in the centre of WA but need a police clearance in order to take them. Went to the cop shop this morning for the clearance but was told they don't issue them to people under fines suspension! *mad* Catch 22 anyone? Will have to ponder the situation over drinks, methinks. ;)

A couple of guys were stabbed in the face by a screwdriver wielding maniac in my suburb last night and one of them drove to the hospital with the screwdriver hanging out of his cheek. Whilst i was walking into the police station this morning, a rather annoying channel 9 camera crew insisted on filming my every step! I figured what they were doing but couldn't muster the courage to ask 'em if they'd seen my screwdriver..

Bungleau 03-06-2007 12:50 AM

AVG's still free, Sever... take a look here.

LOL! Good way to get on the evening news with the screwdriver question

Sever 03-06-2007 01:11 AM

So it is... Ta B.

The thought of being on the 6pm news is precisely why i bit my tongue. Bad hair, stubble, shirt, jeans and shoe day. ;)

Bungleau 03-06-2007 09:07 AM

You'd fit the role perfectly!!!

Cloudbringer 03-06-2007 06:53 PM

Ivellis, you cracked me up with this comment :

Somehow my mind just could not get out of the gutter on that one! ;)

Howdy all, dropping in to change the coffee pots out and offer you all some fresh gingerbread! About to go play some Sacred with friends! :D

Ivelliis 03-07-2007 02:19 AM

Glad I raised a smile Cloudy I thought it was a more polite way to say it ;)

Sever 03-09-2007 03:02 AM

What a productive day i had today. Passed a drug/alcohol test, got a job, fixed my car, paid my fines and got my license back. If i didn't have to start work at 6am tomorrow, i'd be hitting the town tonight!

Cloudbringer 03-09-2007 11:07 AM

Argh, my productive days include doing the work that three people used to do but unfortunately two have left and that leaves....moi! Yesterday was a 10.5 hr work day although I was in the office for about 11 hrs... can't count my 20 min taken to scarf a sandwich and soda, I guess, though.

Ladyzekke 03-09-2007 12:45 PM

Yikes, sounds like you have a lot of work on your hands Sis! I bet you are glad it's Friday! :D I hope the workload slows down soon, wish I could help out (boring world over here)!

Walked over to the 7-11 across from work this morning. It's owned by a middle eastern man and his family. While I was waiting in line, one of his daughters, who is behind the counter, motions me to come on up to have my items rung up. Well, there was another middle eastern man standing there near the lottery machine. He apparently already bought some stuff but wanted a pack of matches. The girl who was ringing me up asks him how many packs he wants and he rudely says "just one!" She gives it to him and he starts muttering insults to her under his breath. She ignores him and continues to ring my items up. The guy then starts getting louder and he's asking for the manager now, who is standing nearby. He then starts insulting the owner for no apparent reason, calling him "nothing but a shoemaker!" The owner then gets into his face and the two of them exchange insults. The owner tells him he OWNS the store, but he is not impressing the other guy who still insists he's a shoemaker or something or other (the accents got hard to understand at this point). Finally the owner tells him to Get Out Of My Store! Before the guy leaves he tells the owner he better watch out.

Was totally weird because nobody did anything to this man that I could see. The owner was just minding his own business when this guy confronts him and insults him.

What was funny to me about the entire thing, was this guy who was insulting the owner was holding a recently purchased 7-11 wrinkled sweaty nasty Hotdog. LOL, it's like, dude, i.e., Mr. High and Mighty, who are you to talk, holding your Hotdog for breakfast! That ain't no gourmet breakfast you are holding! And what the heck is wrong with being a shoemaker? Oh, and the guy had a headset on the entire time, I'd bet he's a High and Mighty...cab driver. Funny as hell

bubbe 03-10-2007 06:39 PM

been home at my parents house for a week now, it has been a good week and yesterday we celebrated a friends birthday... it was real fun and we did alot of dancing... "wow, the geeks danced with girls! Ò_ó"
and today I had to pick up my drunk parents with the car... they couldn't make it to the bus! Haha

I have meet all but a few of my friends that I wanted to meet.

back to school and the reality soon... blah! I really don't want to go to school this week. :(

hope you all doing fine and that you all had a wonderful weekend.
bye

SomeGuy 03-10-2007 08:34 PM

Hi folks. .

How's everyone doing?

wellard 03-10-2007 09:40 PM

Are shoes / feet considered dirty in islamic countries LadyZ? maybe someone can enlighten us.

Well if it aint Someguy, recovering from your birthday celebrations from last week? (happy birthday btw) now get back to work with that broom and dont expect adult wages from the boss either

Ladyzekke 03-10-2007 10:39 PM

Sounds like you had fun Bubbe LOL. :D

Someguy, whassap? How's life going this weekend?

Wellard, no idea re the shoe thing, I'm curious myself about it!

Wow what a nice day today was. Not cold at all, around 60F. Such a nice change from the icing we've had the past few weeks.

Guess I should set my clock up an hour soon, which will feel weird cause it's a few weeks earlier than the norm. I don't mind though, I hate it when wintertime comes and it gets dark so early. I much prefer longer daylight time in the evening, makes me feel awake and active more.

Bungleau 03-10-2007 11:32 PM

I believe it's the soles of the feet or shoes which are considered dirty, and showing them to someone can be offensive. Saw that in a video on cultural differences in a class once...

Beauty day here as well... supposed to hit the 50s this week, I think!

Too bad I'll be in Charlotte and miss it... :(

SomeGuy 03-10-2007 11:47 PM

I'm doing pretty good, my birthday went over well. I got a new guitar and some clothes we're still currently looking for a truck. Being 16 is not much different than 15, I guess it'd be more exciting if I hadn't waited so to get my permit! I can't get my license until July now!

And Lady Z, not much is up, yo! Things have been a bit up and down here with my girlfriend and I, but things are looking much more up. I'm leaving for Mexico on my mission trip next Friday, all through Spring Break, and I'm pretty excited. Overall things are great. . What about in your world?

Kakero 03-10-2007 11:50 PM

Great! It's sunday. And I'm suppose to be resting after 6 days of work right? Nope! Genius father had to call the contractor to do a maintenance job on the house and I have to supervise it!

Great! My sunday is ruined!

Mack_Attack 03-11-2007 12:57 AM

Good night her at work. Only 11 hours of it. Gotta love spring ahead when working. ;)

Rest after work. Never heard of that. ;)

Cloudbringer 03-11-2007 08:47 PM

LadyZ, I'd love the help! At least I know you'd work on things unlike the former co-worker who read the paper and planned her retirement all day! :D Very weird encounter you saw at that store! I'd guess the hot dog guy was just in a bad mood or has chemical unbalance issues, myself. :D Hope he finds another store to shop in!

SomeCutie! HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY! I'm glad you are busy, keeps you out of trouble, hehe Have a great trip down to Mexico!

Well, forgot to change our clocks over last night so we were running late before we even got up this morning. Been one of those days! LOL

Hubby put together another storage cabinet, though and this one's destined for his study. I am thoroughly impressed...he's cleaned about a 1/3 of the room in order to put it there! WHOOHOOO! I can see the floor ...well, some of it, anyway! :D :D :D

Ladyzekke 03-13-2007 11:07 PM

LOL, sorry Mack Attack that you got adversely affected by that extra hour when the time changed last Saturday! I bet a lot of people who worked certain shifts got screwed as well!

Big warm front coming through this week. Will be in the 70s tomorrow! Such a nice change from all the ice finally.

Unfortunately with the warmer weather I'm reminded that I need to fix my window(s) on my car so I can get them down when summer comes. Apparently they don't sell the parts anymore though except for the one window right next to the driver (guess it's a law). $250 Chevy dealership said to buy it, but again, the other windows no longer are being manufactured or sold, so I'm still gonna sweat it out yet another year even when I fix the thing. It's the regulator for the electric window that needs to be replaced, not the entire motor or anything. Blah...What's the chances you get a car that all the regulators for the windows die out within a 3 year timeline? Thing is, besides the windows problem, my car is still good to go for a few more years, the engine is solid, Chevy makes good cars dangit. Sucks to think about ditching a car that works just fine because of stupid window malfunctions that cannot be fixed. Living in the city, there aren't any junkyards about to go look through for possible parts.

Not a fan of electric windows on cars anymore LOL. I mean hey, I got no problem hand cranking a window down using a lever like everyone did 30 years ago. Electric windows are just a convenience, not a necessity. And apparently after 20 years of owning a car, you are possibly screwed re finding certain parts for it. Wonder if that is some incentive to make a person just go ahead and buy a new car rather than keep the old one?

Hope everyone is having a nice evening. Gonna be a nice weather situation in the eastern U.S. tomorrow, looking forward to it.

Sir Goulum 03-13-2007 11:09 PM

Feb 2nd and this Cafe is only at 5 pages? So long gone are the days of having 1 Cafe/day. :(

wellard 03-14-2007 04:18 PM

Lady Z have you tried a car junk yard / second hand parts dealer? I would be amazed if you could not get the parts you need online.

Yes, i seem to have lost my ultimate spamming abilities. In the old days i could conjure up like 200 posts per day, and they were all quality posts too. :D Now i barely manage to post 10 times per week, what an ocean of difference that is.

wellard 03-14-2007 09:13 PM

Well Johnny if ya stopped drinking Kryptonite brand beer and went back to Amstel instead you would be spamming at full power in no time at all

Bungleau 03-14-2007 10:30 PM

And to follow on Wellard's thoughts, Lady Z, have you checked eBay? A friend of mine got a replacement trunk for his car... and a search for "window regulator" proved somewhat fruitful ;)

Ladyzekke 03-14-2007 10:43 PM

I'll see what I can find online Bungleau, although I'm hesitant cause I'd hate to get ripped off. Either way, I'll give it a shot re searching and see what results I get.

It's a windows-open beautiful weather night tonight

SomeGuy 03-15-2007 01:08 AM

It's a few minutes past midnight, I just got off the phone with my girlfriend, and I'm extremly happy.

Gnight folks.

Ivelliis 03-15-2007 04:48 PM

What better way to bump the Café than to talk about me :D /sarcasm

Got guitar for FREE :D

Still wooing the girl (got a house party to go to in a few weeks, so she is getting invited :D )

Kicked ass in my AS modules - B,A,A,A

Done 21hours of driving and have my theory next week, then not long till my practical exam *crosses fingers*

Gonna try and get some tickets for Leeds festival.

And found out Middlesbrough Music Live (festival in the city centre with 7-10 stages where up-and-coming bands play...we've had Kaisers, Fratelli's, Little Man Tate, Paulo Nutini, Razorlight...no one you guys will have heard of but are big in my eyes :D ) is early June...not long.

And I'm off college in a few weeks for two weeks.

:D

How are the rest of you?

Sir Goulum 03-15-2007 05:41 PM

However, just like the old days, I'm still as ignored as ever. Sucks not being in the clique, eh?

wellard 03-15-2007 06:50 PM

Who was that last poster?

Kaiser cheifs ... yep i like them Ivelliis, why not take her to see the Boro' they got a couple of good aussies playing every week

johnny 03-15-2007 07:48 PM

I know the Fratelli's, their song is becoming quite the hype around the local footballstadiums. :D

Ladyzekke 03-15-2007 10:46 PM

Sir G, why are you saying you are being ignored when you got quoted and replied to on this very page? How many posts by others do you reply to? Nobody's your enemy here beebs. ;)

Well our warm front has blown away now It's 40F now and will stay that way tomorrow and this weekend.

Was also busy as hell today at work so I didn't get a chance to look online for my window regulator, blah. Maybe tomorrow!

Wishing everyone a good evening, time for me to bounce! :D

No, you can't be an enemy if you're ignored and brushed under the carpet. I've got other issues, but I won't share them... I still value my membership here.

wellard 03-16-2007 02:36 AM

Manly hugs for the Goulum

BTW why are you not doing the ironworks quiz? after all it was you who started it
