Ok I will give you some of the general things (I am not telling all my "Secrets" ;) )

*Pick up lines can be dangerous in the right hands.
I personnally love using them :D there is nothing better then making a girl laugh when first meeting her. I STRONGLY suggest certain precautions that i have learned first.
- Make sure her boyfriend is no-where near (look i didn't know she was taken ok)
- Stand far enough away that she has to take a couple of steps before crippling you, that will usually give you enough warning.

*Use bribes
If you know her friends consider paying them to talk about what a great guy you are... Sounds lame i know but very affective

Well I'm still working on the getting to know her part.... You know making idle conversation. I'm finding the difficulty of this to vary from girl to girl. *shrugs*

Funny I can't remember any good lines. Works best when guys have just acted natural. Also, ask the person your interested in, what their interests are.

Just a few things.

In my opinion, courtesy has nothing to do with charisma. You can hold a door open as often as you like, but it doesn't up you on her social calander.

Make her friends your friends. This may seem shallow, but how can you imagine going out with her while her friends can't stand you being around? I think this helps to put you in a state of mind, as well as making you more comfortable to be around her.

Like stated earlier, become friends first. In my experience, it's harder to become friends let alone date. And, being more comfortable around her will make you, in turn, more comfortable to ask.

I don't boast all this massive experience, as I have little, but I hope this helps.
